I just read that Vanguard Airlines, a low cost airline out of Kansas City, just filed bankruptcy and will cease operations. I am so lucky. I almost booked our airfare to Orlando for our cruise on Vanguard, because the fares were so cheap.

I ended up leaving my airfare with Disney, because I knew if something like this happened, it would be their problem to solve, not mine. I was pretty irritated because the airfares dropped significantly the day after I paid off my cruise, but now I am glad, because I'm not scrambling to find a new airline. Paying a little extra has it's rewards.

Just a side note, my wife still has useless Braniff tickets from when they went under. I guess we just got lucky this time.

Interesting, my mom used to fly Vanguard to L.A. as well. I actually thought they went bankrupt a while back, I guess they were still operating while trying to reorganize and it didn't work.

Glad you're okay with your air! :D

I was surprised to hear the news this morning.

This means about 5,000 people outta work overnight. Not to mention those holding Vanguard tickets. Good to hear you went thru Disney

Vanguard served Atlanta although it was a drop in the bucket compared to Delta's and AirTran's operation here. Fortunately, for travelers stranded in Delta markets, Delta is honoring Vanguard tickets.
