Hi!

I'm level 42 and love Farmville!

So what to you think about the new trees they added? The carnival tree is weird.

Dodie

Great idea, Jen!

I'm level 35. I love it and am probably just slightly "addicted," but my goal is to have a beautiful farm. I don't think I really play to "win." I usually advance by accident and only plant crops that need to be harvested every couple of days.

I am proud of DodieVille though. ;)

At the time I'm not harvesting anything (I'm preparing for two exams), but I still help friends, and expand chicken coops. I love farmville and when it seems it's getting boring they manage to do something new and the excitement starts all over again!

What new trees?? Omg I leave my computer for 8 hours and the chicken coop expansion happens, paint colors for the barn are offered, and now new trees?

Btw, level 48 and LOVIN it!

Hi Lauren - I do the EXACT same thing. Usually right after I drop off the kids at school around 8:30, I make some coffee and check my emails, the DIS, and Farmville.

By the way, right now I'm level 38, I wasn't the best at keeping my crops up, but, now I'm doing better.

This is a great idea Jenn. I'm on level 43 and I am fully addicted. I have it open all day at work, and now that I've bought my self a lap top, I can have it open at home while I watch TV. The new trees are very different. I love the chicken coop expension. Happy Farming.

Before Christmas I promised myself I would stop by the first of the new year.

Look at my farm now, it has an huge Vanentine box! Guess I didn't manage to quit.

I do not have an especially addictive personality. I am not hooked on coffee or drink or gambling. But I find Farmville way too addictive. I do it it in the morning and it sometimes makes me late in leaving for work. I sneak into the farm during work. I harvest crops when I should be sleeping at night.

I really am trying to get out! Like many farms, my farm is being taken over by houses. I now have a housing developement on my farm. 23 houses!!!

Soon there will be so many houses, there will be no place to farm. Then I can get some sleep and get some work done.

I am level 33. How high does it go? I hope I never reach it!

I'd probably like it more if I had more friends to interact with. Currently I have five friends that play, but I can't figure out how to add them as neighbors, plus I think I'll need lots more than that for a successful farm!
Also, what do ppl do when they go on vacation? I am going to Australia for three weeks in March, and I probably won't have my computer, but will have my iPhone. Any suggestions?

I'm also stuck on Petville with the same problems. Coins I got, but now to advance and buy new rooms for the house you gotta have friends and no one I know plays Petville. and if I don't feed Dinah daily she goes off to the pound which is an expensive boo-boo.

I did a little digging and you can now find farmhands when harvesting the stable like eggs in the coop. These farmhands are consumable buffs....think they could have found a better name. Talk about demoralizing you workforce.

How do you get the farm hands?

Collecting from your stable gives the opportunity to get "consumable buffs" (arborist and farmhand which count towards the new ribbon). Similar to golden eggs from the chicken coop.

There is no crop you can plant that will last 3 weeks, so I suggest just plowing your field so your friends can fertilize it for you.

At this point level 70 is the highest but it's been rumored that will change.

How do you get fv cash after level 70? I've been wondering about that? :scratchin

You don't earn any FV Cash when you are unable to level up. :(

If anyone wants more neighbors, feel free to send me a friend request. Just the other day I went through and removed the neighbors I had that were no longer playing...so if you were my neighbor and decide to start playing again, be sure and send a new request. :thumbsup2

I am level 38 or 39, finally got enough coins to buy pretty much everything I wanted. So this week I rearranged my farm, put most everything out and really downsized my fields so it won't take up so much of my time. I still get on it a few times a day, but now it doesn't take up so much time.

They added another ribbon? Sometimes I get annoyed when they add ribbons just when I feel like I can one day actually complete farmville they add ribbons. which is great because it will never get old but the obsessive compulsive in me wants to be able to say one day I completed it....if that makes any sense :rotfl:

This is a loaded question, to say the least, but I figure I'll answer. Those of you who know me on Facebook have probably seen my opinions in some form or another in my posts or comments, but I can offer a bit more elaboration here.

I think, first and foremost, that the game is a lot of fun. A lot of different ways to play, and there's something in it for everyone. I left for a long while, and recently came back to the game (in a somewhat more limited fashion) because I do think it's that interesting. I don't actively play right now, just occasionally, and mostly for the sake of exchanging items with friends, seeing how others' farms are doing, things like that. I like the interactive and friendly aspect of the game, for sure.

That said, here are some of the things I don't like so much.

* The company that produces the game, Zynga, engaged or even currently engages in some borderline shady practices to make money. If you've played the game you know that many elements of it require "farm$", which are only provided in-game in very limited fashion. Obtaining more requires completing special offers (which in themselves involve installation of spyware, signing up for mailing lists, or other similar deceptive and annoying things) or paying actual money. Not sure how many people here have actually paid cash, but even just doing that a few times can rack up a considerable cost. I would never do so, nor recommend it, but as addicting as the game is, some people might be willing to do so. I don't have the link handy at the moment, but there was a great video interview with the CEO of Zynga where he talked about the spyware, etc, basically laughed it off, and was pretty arrogant about it. Left a bad taste in my mouth.

* The game directly/indirectly generates way too many notifications in the facebook news feed. Right now, I say that I play in a somewhat limited fashion. As part of that, I still have the app notification hidden. When I view a news feed and 50+% of the posts are about farmville, it was just too much. I'm perfectly happy for those who want that level of interactivity and involvement, but I'm just as happy that I can turn it off, too.

* It's just a game. I think some people take it a little too seriously. Not pointing a finger at anyone in particular, or necessarily even anyone in this group, but I've definitely noticed it. "If this group gets 100,000 people then we'll all get ___" or "sign this petition because we want free farm$ for doing ___". In recent times, some of these things have been real, from what I hear, but for a while they were hoaxes and/or complete time wasters, and I'm sure some still are. Either way, though, the fact that I see people going to such lengths over what is, at the end of the day, just a game, seemed a bit much.

* I'd rather spend the time on facebook interacting with people in other ways. Similar to the qualm about notifications, but in a different way, and kind of just empirical. One of the things I've loved about Facebook, and especially friending DISers, is hearing about the seemingly mundane updates, seeing pics, and feeling like I'm getting to know some of my fellow Disney fans (dare I even say, friends) a little better. Again, this is purely empirical and possibly speculative, but I have noticed that as some individuals have become very active with farmville updates, I don't see much in the way of "classical" social networking from some of these same folks. Again, not necessarily thinking any specific person, more just a general observation.

* Lastly, and most importantly, I think Farmville qualifies as an addiciton. Maybe not in the strict clinical sense (though Dr Phil did discuss it in an episode, for whatever that's worth), but no different than the colloquial television or video game addiction that is sometimes cited as an issue in whomever. To the PP who mentioned "I can't read I have to plow", I commend you for having the presence of mind to notice so easily that it was an issue at that point. While I don't think it's necessarily too frequent for people to be sucked into the game to that extent, it's certainly not unheard of either. Even in this thread, a few tongue-in-cheek comments have been made about "my husband asks when we can go because I'm busy farming" or "I don't know what I'm going to do when I go away for two weeks", etc. The comments themselves are presumably in jest, of course, but they are only funny because there is indeed at least some bit of truth to the statements.

Let me step back a moment and just reiterate that I don't mean any of this to offend anyone, and hope that the most pointed of my statements are taken in the same way... that I'm only trying to make crystal clear why I'm coming to some of my opinions. I certainly am not suggesting that everyone stop playing, or even anything close. In fact, I'm glad I came back, and found a way to do so that it can still be fun, without being overwhelming or addicting. :)

Tim, I was :rotfl: when I saw you starting to play again after you left for such a long time.

That said, here are some of the things I don't like so much.

If you've played the game you know that many elements of it require "farm$", which are only provided in-game in very limited fashion. Yes, many decorations and some animals require FarmCash, which you can get for free each time you level up or in a mystery box. The "special offers" were removed for a very long time after they had complaints. I've done a few of them and have had no issues. I chose ones that worked for me. Haven't cost me a penny and didn't have to download anything for it.

* The game directly/indirectly generates way too many notifications in the facebook news feed. Right now, I say that I play in a somewhat limited fashion. I agree there are too many notifications with this game, but I have had a lot of fun sharing items needed for collections, valentines, christmas, etc. Luckily the ability to hide these is simple.

Either way, though, the fact that I see people going to such lengths over what is, at the end of the day, just a game, seemed a bit much.

I find it terribly frustrating when I see my friends join those scam groups. You get nothing in return, and you've allowed them access to your profile. I hope they delete them.

* I'd rather spend the time on facebook interacting with people in other ways. Similar to the qualm about notifications, but in a different way, and kind of just empirical. I love seeing when and where my friends are traveling, what's new in their lives. It makes the distance of being apart a bit easier

As far as addiction, Facebook in general is one, not only FarmVille.

And that woman on Dr. Phil was an idiot.

I just started Farmville the day after I got sick of seeing all the notifications and blocked them. I thought I'd see what it was all about. I like video games. James hates them. But, I do enjoy them and what I enjoy most about them is accomplishing things. So, I like to level up and have a lot of crops and get the collections. Like any other game that I play, I will tire of it after awhile.

So, for the "consumable buffs" -- I wonder if more can be earned by leaving all your horses outside the stable and then putting them in one at a time to harvest? Probably not, but I might give it a try!

Enjoyed reading this thread. I've trashed all my FB games though. Got really high in Fashion Wars and mastered all the original tiers of Mafia Wars but it was a struggle to maintain my interest. Ultimately I just pulled out of all of them and un-friended a bunch of people game-only friends.

I play FB games!
Farmtown I am at the highest level and so I just check in twice a week with that.
Farmville I am at level 44 and it is something I go into a few times a day, but not for long. It's losing it's interest for me as I am having trouble completing some collections, but I do want to get to level 70 so will not give up altogether.
Zooworld I check each morning and spend about 30 minutes.
Tiki Farm i am playing, but just don't know what to think of this game yet.
Country life is one that I am always checking on, I find it interesting as is is about the economics. there are no villas or homes ect. in this game.
Now for the ones I gave up.
Fashion wars
Mafia wars
Vampire wars
Mob wars
Sorority life
Castle age
School of wizardary
and there are probably a few others in there as well.

Now having said this I do not let this control my life.
I still go to the gym everyday.
I still help my little one with reading and homework.
I still plan dinners.
I still take the 2 hours in the car once a week to have my older son privately tutored, along with a whole host of other things.
Do I think I have a problem no, but I came home from a vacation and was very depressed and disillusioned with things. Now my hubby on the other hand hates that I play these games. This is me being me.
I still interact on FB with friends other than games.
Sorry for being longwinded! :)

I just found this out (DS told me, of course). If you open the market and go to Acorn Squash, put your cursor on the little line under the picture it shows how many you still need. Actually, it shows how many you have planted, like 100/500. Means that you still need to plant 400 more squares to get that level of mastery.

Acorn squash is 1,500 for level 1...1,500 for level 2 and 7,000 for level 3. You definately have lots of work to do.

Wow this makes so make sense now why I keep planting and planting and never mastered it yet. I guess some crops take longer to master than other. You'll find the crops that require LOTS and LOTS of harvesting have a short growth periods while other crops take longer to grow don't require as many harvests. I'm starting pineapples tonight which takes two days instead of the eight hours was spending with these silly tomatoes.

Those items are still coming. If it follows the Valentine's Day pattern, the most expensive item was 150 (valentines, gold, whatever). So, if you want a sheep, chances are you can buy one and still have more than enough gold by the time this ends to buy other things as well.

I know after I got my Eiffel Tower during Valentines, I still bought 3 sheep, and a Kissing Ducks bench, and still had a few leftover. :goodvibes

I don't even try to collect from the feed anymore except for coins.

I have found it faster if I right click on the picture of the item on the feed and select "open link in new window". Then after I collect I can close the new window that popped up and don't lose my place on the feed.

Also, FV Bonus Checker is a great app for collecting from your friends posts. It gathers them and you just click on the ones you want to claim. A new window pops with the item you collected, and close the window and repeat.

A new window pops with the item you collected, and close the window and repeat.

thanks for the tips

do you happen to have a link for the FV bonus checker i can't seem to find it.

Farmville is a very addictive and fun game. I normally play to reach all masteries :)

Hooray for Disers on Farmville!!

Has anyone started building the botanical garden yet? I pretty much just finished the nursery barn, and now I'm building something new. *sigh*. Oh, and I'm pretty sure they are using emotional manipulation so I can pay actual money to both feed and retrieve my puppies. The picture in the corner with the puppy in the cage? Ick.

Anyway, if anyone would like more neighbors, just friend me below and join the fun. I pretty much have all the neighbors I need, but there is always room for more. :)

I started building the botanical garden yesterday. I have been sending gifts to friends for it, but not getting many back

If anyone would like to be neighbors, pm me.

I finished the garden last night. I think it's cute, but really large, so I have it in storage.

I had just about enough supplies in my gift box to complete the botanical garden -- but then decided not to as it takes up so much room! My storage is also tapped out, so that's not an option right now.

Can I just say how much I hate the co-ops? It's hard to plan them just right and most of the time I have to go several hours without planting anything if I want to join another co-op as soon as my current one is complete...not liking that feature very much! :(

I agree I am not a fan of the co-ops as well. and I find myself getting annoyed with the people who turn out to be ? marks, they almost always never harvest their crops in time.

I only am interested in the prizes for the co-ops, and then one is enough (except I like the grape sheep and need 2 more).

Finally got the red ribbon for the consumables award today. Stable stuffing is getting me there faster. I've also been trying to breed the rare foals in between stable stuffing. Did you know you can stuff the stable with a horse that is only 33% or more ready? So I can stuff about 12 times a day.

Lisa, did you see storage has been increased to 200? Just do some more barn raising.

Yes, it has been quite slow lately! This is due to all the recent changes Zynga has made to enhance gameplay. They are still working on things like the co-op and new gifting options to speed everything up again.
