(Adding chapter links to the bottom of this post!)

Hello and welcome to my CRAZY Trip Report!! For more of an explanation on the title of this TR plus more Character introductions please visit my PTR here: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2329123 I think you'll find that this trip of Dis meets is just as crazy as some of my childhood vacations. :thumbsup2 I wouldn't have it any other way.

This trip we got to meet up with a bunch of other crazy Diser's!!! We were lucky enough to get to spend time with Jordan and his family and friends....Wendy & Derek and their cute kiddo's, and Kim & Alan. We also got to spend time with Winkers (Cherie) and DJay and also Rosie!!! We even met a NEW Diser one morning at DHS....."Mytallula". She was very sweet and she informed us that she saw mine and Winkers "dance pictures" on Jordan's PTR. I think I felt myself blush a little. :rotfl2:

Our trip started on February 5th with an un-eventful drive to Tallahassee. Thank goodness for that "un-eventful" part. If you've read my PTR you know that we weren't sure if our brand new Yukon would make it there or not. Yes, we are owners of a big fat black lemon!!......But hopefully not for long.

Anyway, on to happier things! We stopped at the Welcome Center when we got to Florida because it's tradition. We love stopping here and looking at the brochures, stretching our legs, and getting that tiny shot of OJ.

I have taken a picture of DS next to these posts every year we've gone to Disney. I think for his first trip (Feb 2007) when he was about 2 weeks away from being 3 years old, he was only up to the third line from the bottom....if that much. Look how much he's grown!!!

Getting closer.....

I did not do the online check in but for the first time EVER, our room was ready when we got there!! (about 10:00am) We had room #1524 which is toward the front where we like to be. Not too far from the main house. The view this year was terrible! There was nothing but a tall wall of bamboo off our balcony. The golf course was right behind us but we couldn't see it at all. This was the worst view we've ever had at OKW. This time I put the reservations under DH's name for the first time ever. I wonder if this had anything to do with it?? Anyway, it was just a thought. I don't really care about the view......well, I didn't care about it on THIS trip. First we were too busy to enjoy the balcony, and second it was WAAAY TOO COLD to sit out there! :scared1: Yes, you read that right. It was FREEZING during our trip! The temps were in the 30's-40's but the wind was 25-30mph the entire trip. I kept getting wind advisories on my phone every day. We eventually got tired of being beat up by the wind. It really wears you out! Of course we soldiered on!! I mean come on........IT'S DISNEY WORLD!!! :woohoo:

Our first stop after checking in and unloading the bags in the room was.........EPCOT!!!

Our first order of business was to get a fast pass for Soarin'. By this time it was around 11am. We were behind the game as far as fastpasses go! Once we secured that, we let DS choose what he wanted to ride first. Surprisingly he chose.......

After this we decided to eat lunch. So we headed over to the Electric Umbrella. You may remember that we have found that DS has severe food allergies. He is allergic to peanuts and green peas (legumes). We have to carry an epi-pen. We found all of this out last summer. This is our first trip to WDW knowing about his allergies. I contacted WDW before our trip and filled out some forms at their request and sent them back. They put this information on our reservation as well as all of our ADR's. Then they sent me many .pdf files of what snacks were safe around WDW along with counter service items that should be safe too. They always say to check with a chef before ordering and that's just what I did. This did take some time and held up the line a bit. I'm not happy to report that I felt extremely uncomfortable doing that and what made it worse was all the snickering and "sigh's" coming from the people behind me.

If any of those people are reading my TR, I'd like to pause and take this moment to tell you to shove it where the sun doesn't shine!!! GET IN ANOTHER LINE!!!! THIS IS MY CHILD WE'RE TALKING ABOUT!! GET A GRIP ON YOURSELVES!!!

Ok, I'm back now......;) Seriously, I couldn't believe the rudeness. And they KNEW what we were doing because the chef and manager came out with a binder full of food labels for me to read through. Let's now look at this from my perspective minus the people behind me...... I'm having to figure out what item DS wants to eat, then get told that he may not be able to have the cheese burger because of the bread. I have to look through the ingredients list for the chicken nuggets, then approve it. The cashier has to get approval from the manager. SEVERAL people checked and re-checked our order before I finally got our food. I left the counter with a tray full of food and a nervous stomach and wasn't sure if I even wanted to feed DS what was there. Good news is that he ate and was fine. The bad news is that I have at this moment realized that the 10 pages of files that Disney sent me for counter service and snacks that I printed out and made into a BOOK, were OUTDATED!!!! :headache: There was nothing at Electric umbrella that was on the papers. They have since switched brands and items and basically, the 10 pages were of no use to me AT ALL. :scared1: All I can think at this moment is....... "OMG, I've got 7 days of this". " I'm going to have a heart attack every time we go to eat and will be bald by the time we leave this place!!"

More on the food allergy situation later! Does it get better or more confusing?? :rolleyes1

Once lunch was over and my blood pressure and heart rate was back to normal, we headed over to Ellen's Energy Adventure. It was about this time that I sent a Text to Jordan because I knew he, Winkers, & DJay were in Epcot that day.

DS about to see some dinosaurs!!!
http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4049/4371625080_39db520723.jpg

This was DS's first time to ride EEA. He wanted to see the dinosaurs because he was thinking about riding the ride "Dinosaur" in Animal Kingdom for the first time this trip. He thought this would be a good way to build up to that.

When we left EEA, it was time for our Soarin' fastpass. I forgot to check my phone and didn't realize that Jordan sent me a text back. They were sitting outside of EEA and we totally missed each other!!! I got the text as we were about to get on Soarin'.

I'll stop here for now. Did we get to Soar over California??? Did we ever get to meet up with Jordan, Winkers, & DJay??? Stay tuned!!! popcorn::

1st page? Maybe? I will be more active and less lurky this time around :)

I will have to show DD-almost 6 the pic of your son in his car seat. She is also still in a 5 point harness since she is under 4olb. 45 inches but 38lb. 80% of her friends are in a booster. She thinks she is moving at 4olb but her seat harnesses to 60lb. All it took was watching that video on YouTube.
Avery's best friend also has a severe tree nut allergy-also has the epi. I would watch her at my house and took her out a few times-it was gut wrenching. I was a wreck. Those rude people can-well ya know. HELLO, have YOU HEARD of ANAPHLACTIC REACTION??? This is LIFE or DEATH people not a PICKY kid. Acck, people are so stupid. I have a walnut allergy which was noted on our ressie and the people at the restraunt would always let me know if something contained them. I hope it got easier!

Great start on the trip report. Sorry to hear about the food situation.
I guess the good news is as you go more often, :thumbsup2 you will get better at knowing what is OK and what is potentially a problem.

I'm in for the ride!!!! Followed you over from Jordan's PTR.

My SIL cannot eat gluten so she and my brother have to check ingredients before they order. One good thing is that it seems that more people are eating gluten free food and it is becoming more common. They had good experiences eating in WDW. Sorry you had to go through that with your son... but you are right- his health is most important. Who cares about a bunch of people you don't know standing behind you! pirate:

I am here. Your son has gotten so big. I am glad to see he is in a 5 point harness seat. We are keeping my dd in one until she is not able to fit in it any more. It will be a while hers is good to 60 lbs. My friends keep telling me to switch her but I keep saying nope not going to happen. She is safer in that seat and she still like sit because it lifts her up so she can see out the windows. My friend thinks I am nuts even though she has seen what can happen to a child not in a 5 point harness seat. I can't wait to read about the reat of your trip.

Hi! I'm joining in... I've read some of your previous reports but it's been a while. I've been following Jordan so I thought it would be fun to follow along with you too.

We were dealing with food allergies (actually more intolerances in DS9's case) back during our 2006 & 2007 trips & WDW was fantastic about it! I think TS meals worked out better than CS meals though for the reasons you mentioned at Electric Umbrella. I'm sorry your information was outdated - we had up to date information so it made it a lot easier. We ordered, then the chef met us outside of the line so nobody was held up. There were several times that the chesf made special gluten free chicken nuggets for DS. :thumbsup2 I hope the food situation improved for you guys!

I'm pretty sure he can be in a booster but the 5 point harness is much more safe. They say if they are still within the height/weight bracket for it and they will sit in it, to keep them there as long as you can. He doesn't complain about it so it works for us. That is a brand new seat. It's a high back booster that sort of grows taller. We will see how long before he starts wanting to do the seatbelt. ;)

Yeah the food allergies are very nerve wracking. Last year there was a boy in DS's class that had the peanut allergy. I got used to reading labels for cookies and cupcakes for school but sadly not every parent does. Most of the time they go with the attitude of "mine doesn't have it, so why should i bother". :sad2:

On board! :D

Yeah, I really wanted to tell them that. But I tried to stay focused. I knew it was going to be a long 7 days as far as food was concerned.

Great start on the trip report. Sorry to hear about the food situation.
I guess the good news is as you go more often, :thumbsup2 you will get better at knowing what is OK and what is potentially a problem.

:welcome:

Yes, it is all a major learning process. The foods that are ok over here where we live are not the same at WDW. They do seem to use many more products that have seeds, nuts, nut flour, etc in them. A lot of times it's hidden which makes it even more difficult.

I'm in for the ride!!!! Followed you over from Jordan's PTR.

My SIL cannot eat gluten so she and my brother have to check ingredients before they order. One day when I was ordering at Columbia Harbor House there was a man next to me that had to order gluten free. He had to do the whole binder thing like I did. It's crazy but I'm not sure how else they could/would do it.

Hi Tracy!!
I plan on sending an email, I just haven't had time yet. Besides the outdated information, I also need to gather all of my thoughts about the entire experience before I start. While their system is fairly good, there is still much room for improvement.

The meets were AWESOME!! :)

I agree about the seat. I plan on keeping him in there as long as I can. He doesn't complain about it so that makes it much easier. My friends look at me weird and ask why he's still in there too. I don't care. They can do their thing and I will do mine. :confused3

I must say it feels awesome to be "in the club". Hopefully we will get our 1st trip booked soon. I'm waiting for our package to arrive to get all the technical stuff done but I think we may be going back this summer. We will get to try out our home resort at AKV with a savannah view! Congratulations!!!!!!!!!! That is so exciting!

Keep them in the seat as long as you can, we certainly did it longer than most around here. 6 and 60 used to be the law but now it's 8 and 80! However the state also factors in height and provides some good tools to help you determine at what point switching makes sense.

Our 2 younger ones JUST hit 60 pounds and they are 10.5 and 9.5 so we really had to look at height, where the belt hits them, etc and it is different by car so we had different seat rules for the different cars.

I am so sorry you had to deal with impatient people, I can only imagine how difficult it must be. I really hope it got better! It is hard. Eric has a classmate with severe allergies and my nephew just went gluten free, it is so much work to be on top of the labels.

Heck I just found out my cat is allergic to wheat and that's a pain.

I think DS is tall enough for the booster seat but everything says it's safer to keep him in the seat longer. So that's what I shall do! :thumbsup2

It really is a lot of work to have to remember to read every single label. I mean, you even have to read seasoning labels. Until it happened to us, I never would have thought of that.

seasonings, I wouldn't have thought of it either!

Oh the cat thing is a mini nightmare and I feel horrible that we didn't catch it earlier. He's a picky eater, has been on the same food forever. About a week ago I noticed he was losing fur. A couple of other things had been happening so I decided to take him in.

He's been chewing it off! He hadn't lost weight like we thought, just enough fur chewed off to make him look a lot smaller than he is. Apparently either due to some skin irritation, most likely an allergy or it's psychological (which we don't think it is). Vet thought it was definitely an allergy of some sort. Vet asked about diet changes right away and I'm like, no, none.

Got home realized they'd changed the packaging on his food 2 months ago. Sure enough, "new" formula has wheat and soy, old one did not.

If your DS still fits in the seat then go for it, we did as long as we could. We had one of the boosters that had a back on it and had the back on for a long time before we went to just the booster.

So I've been boning up on cat food all week and testing grain free options.

:rotfl2: I've been talking on and off to my DH about it for about 3 years. I couldn't really make the numbers work for us but that's also because we were taking 2 large vacations a year. The cost of dues/taxes plus food, plane tickets, etc just didn't add up to the amount of points we could afford to buy. I finally had to realize that we don't NEED to take 2 WDW trips a year. If it happens then that's WONDERFUL but I need to be more realistic. So when I ran the numbers past him it changed things quite a bit. PLUS, we took the tour this trip. I think the tour is what REALLY got DH on board. He really liked seeing all the rooms at the different resorts. I think seeing it all in person really helped. GOOD LUCK!! :wizard:

We were also there from Feb 6-13th. I wish our trip down was uneventful. we almost did not make it due to all the snow in the ohio area. My brother and his family were supposed to fly out of Pittsburg on the 6th and thurs night their flight down was canceled. I got them on our flight out of Columbus, Ohio on the 6th. We were all going down the 5th to spend the night in Columbus and then fly out on early on the 6th. We both had just gotten into our vehicles to go to Columbus early on the 5th when southwest called to tell us our flights were cancelled for the 6th. Long story short...we ended up getting flights out of Detriot on Delta for late the 5th into Tampa and we ended up renting a van in Tampa and drove to ORlando on the 6th. We made it but barely! And it was soo cold the whole time. There was a lot we did not get to do in the MK even with 2 full days there but we just could not go to the EMH because it was too cold on Sunday night and it was way too cold Thursday morning for two kids under 3.

Congrats on DVC! I too want to make the purchase in a couple of years but I know I cannot get DH to go more than every 3 years so I do not want to buy a whole lot of points. Course this trip with a one year old and DH having to carry him all the time and it being so cold was not the Disney wake up call i wanted for him. Was the price difference enough to go through disney instead of resale? I have been looking a lot at the resales so I can decide where i want to be and I think in a couple of years BLT will be good for us. BUt who knows...a lot could change by then! LOL!

Can;t wait to see what someone else was doing at WDW the same time we were there!

Oh wow!! So we could have crossed paths many times and not even realize it! :rotfl: I agree, it was super cold!!! We are sort of glad that we won't be doing February trips much anymore. This is the 2nd year in a row where it was freezing!

The incentives that Disney has right now made it a better choice than going resale. Plus, you get your points immediately, where as if you do resale you have to wait until closing....however long that takes. We would have done it if it was the better deal, though.

Im here to join in on the fun...great TR so far
Hi there and :welcome: So glad to see so many newbies!!! FUN!!! :yay:

I forgot to mention about the way disney handles food illnesses. Both of my cousins daughters have celiac disease and she said disney was awesome at accomdating the girls when they were there in december.

yeah my husband says we are not going again in Feb! LOL! We are thinking Oct sometime especially when the food and wine festival is going on!

I KNEW THERE WAS PEOPLE ON HERE GOING IN JUNE!!!!!! :yay: Everything has just been so crazy I couldn't remember who's PTR's I had read it on. That's awesome!! We are going to book June 13-19! So we will be there the same time as your family and Fauntleroy's family. Oh I wish we could do the Yehaa Bob Jackson show with you guys. But our arrival day is the 13th. We've wanted to catch this show ever since we caught the last 2 minutes of it on our last night at POR in 2008.

That is great! Are you planning to be at AKL the 13-19th? We'll be at Coronado Springs until Wednesday the 16th, then switching to Kidani for the rest of the trip. We definitely need to meet up.

Yes, we will be there for the entire trip. I'm going to request Kidani too. :woohoo: I'm calling my guide tomorrow. He said he will assist me in getting in since it's sort of short notice. A one time perk kind of thing. Then I also need to bank the rest of those extra points. We will be stretching our extra years points over this trip and one next year too. We are hoping next year some family will come with us and we may get a 2 bedroom at OKW. If no one comes with us then we will see if we have enough points left to try out the Beach Club. I am LOVING the extra points thing. By 2012 I will have been spoiled and we will be back to our regular 160. Not sure what to do then. :rotfl2:

I've been reading your PTR but can't remember if I've ever even posted on it. If not......SORRY!! :guilty: I love the stuff your wife sells. I have these pitchers that have sort of a plunger thing in the middle to mix things up with. They are some of my favorites!!

While we are going to get tickets to the parks and go a little, I'm glad we had the trip in Feb so that we can do just what you said on the trip in June! I'm ready to relax and really check out everything they have to offer there at the resort.

we stayed at a studio at the beach club this trip! Loved it! thats why I think we need to buy DVC...it will make the deluxe's more affordable and you can;t go wrong with the extra space (well when staying in a one bedroom or more) unfortunately the studio is not any bigger than a regular room but it did have the little kitchenette that we hardly used...LOL! and the drawer space was pittiful. we used 2 drawers of DS's clothes and he is 16 mos old...so we could fit all of his clothes but we knew not much of ours would fit in there! Hopefully the other bigger villas have more space! DH and I had to live out of oursuitcases and then keep them zipped so DS did not throw clothes all over the place!

You'll be so spoiled, you'll have to add-on. I'm sure that has occurred to the folks at DVC. I'm jealous of your extra points though. We have 200 and still had to borrow some from this year's allotment for last year's trip. This year we won't be at Kidani too long, so that will help replenish the points.

Good luck on getting the reservation you want. Those guides can pull some strings. :wizard:

Hello again, I just caught up and am excited for you on your DVC purchase. AKL is so neat, I hope you have many years of wonderful family vacations there. I own a barbeque restaurant and am always glad to help people with their allergy questions. Mostly they are cylliacs (sp?) related, but anyone who works with food should know what is in the food and know how to relate the ingredients to their customers, sorry for all your trouble. My family is going to the world in June, but we will be traveling June 7th to June 13th so we will just miss you-bummer! We are then going to the beach for my daughters graduation trip because I won't let her go to senior week. She was glad for the compromise though because we are taking her friend with us. My children are 19, 17, 15 , and I am so excited that they all are excited to go on this trip since they are older and cooler! Ha ha! The last time we all went was in 2006, and usually I go in October for a week with my boyfriend of 12 years. So I love reading all these trip reports to get tips for our trip. Thanks again for sharing your family's experiences.popcorn::

i think the 16th is our MK day when we might meet upwith glenn again there.
:rotfl2: Just points, huh? I've actually thought about it since we have extra points but the main plan was to bank those extras so we have extras next summer when we might be bringing family. We should have just enough to do a 2 bedroom at OKW in June 2011. :woohoo:

I haven't even begun to start planning our days out yet. I officially got us booked today! I think we were going to do 4 days at WDW and 2 at Universal. (but stay at AKV the entire 6) Anyway, I'm sure I can tweak our schedule for a meet!

I saw your link over on Rosie's trip report and thought I'd come over for a read! Now, I gotta go back and read all the details.
Hi there and :welcome:

That's the funniest thing I've read in a long time! :lmao:

But yeah, what about it Blue?
:rotfl2: See above.

We just got back last night. I'm all caught up on your TR. I loved the picture of the bridge. If you're ever in town we have to meet.

I'm so sorry you had so much trouble with food. I hope things got better as the trip went on.

Congrats on DVC. I'm so jealous! First you get to see Drew Brees and then you buy into DVC.

OMG, I can't believe you're back already!!!! Good grief has it been that long since I was there??? :confused3

The food issue is an ongoing thing. I think I need to think outside the box for our next trip.

Thanks about DVC!! At least the Drew Brees thing was free!! :lmao:

I'm finally get caught up on TRs I have been meaning to read...here I am.

I'm glad the chefs took ti seriously but jeez I can't believe they sent you outdated stuff. I hope it doesn't become too dramatic!

KAT!!!! Glad you're here!
Yeah, I really need to start typing that letter about the outdated info.

I came over to keep up with ya and see how your trip was! Can't wait to hear all about it!
And Congrats on the DVC!!!

:welcome: Thanks for coming over.
Thanks about DVC!

Thanks so much! We're still cautiously optimistic, but very excited.

Well I will be sending lots of prayers, positive thoughts, and pixie dust your way!! :lovestruc

Blue I am official an ESCORT!!! Now before anyone has any weird ideas ( as on Jordan's thread:lmao:) I will be ESCORTING people with Disabilities on vactions !! Many of which are DISNEY!!! Yes I get to go to Disney for FREE!! :cloud9:That is my pay!!! When I get definated dates I will posr !! But right now it looks like a Pennsylavania Dutch Vacation in May and a DISNEY trip in October !!!:):)
:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: Rosie's an Escort!!!! That just sounds hilarious.
I'm so excited for you! That's wonderful news. They will be lucky to have you as a tour guide!! :wizard:

That's hilarious!

:rotfl2: In June when we meet, you should mess up your hair and put some of those gross "billy bob" teeth in before you meet my DH. That'll teach him!!

Just made it in under the wire!!! Great start cannot wait for more.

Looks like ya'll are in the Baton Rouge area, what was your total driving time from there to Tallehassee?

:welcome: Thanks for coming!

It takes us about 9 hours to get to Tallahassee. We just take it slow since all we are going to do when we get there is eat dinner and sleep.

Alright I started my own, 2nd ever trip report. However, I put a link in my signature, but it's an ugly url how do I change it to a title like yours instead of an URL? I looked around FAQ's and such quickly but figured I'd ask someone who's done it.

TIA

Ooops never mind I finally found it on the Tech Board, I was missing a bracket.
:yay::yay::yay: I'm on my way over now!!!

Those darn brackets!! :headache:

That is too funny!! Yes, I was a little shocked that I was recognized. I've been on the Dis for a few years and have never been recognized until now. But then again......I've never posted pictures of myself doing the Q-tip dance before either. :rolleyes1 It was fun to meet you. Wish we could have visted a little longer in a less crowded spot! There was a man that kept pushing his way in between me and DH. I thought he was strange. Anyway, I was sort of keeping an eye on him out of the corner of my eye and I totally forgot to get a picture of you with all of us with MY camera!! :sad2: So if you have one, feel free to share!!

We encountered the weirdest people who would try to push their way between the 3 of us this trip. I was going through a turnstile with DD behind me and DH behind her. This 50's something man comes up and tries to push between me and DD! I had to reach back and grab her and pull her through behind me! I was like WTH buddy??? :confused3

I do have a couple pictures, of you guys, I was uploading to photobucket before I left my office for the day, and it was taking sooooooooo long I gave up on it. I think somebody took one with us and Jordan, with Jordan's camera maybe?? It's already starting to blur in my head. :lmao:

I wish we'd had time to sit down and enjoy a :drinking1 and some conversation!! Next time ;)

We actually have that happen to us a lot. I don't know what people are thinking. :confused3 People will also look right at DS and walk right over him like he's not even there. And that is while I'm holding his hand! Makes me so mad.

At the moment we are re-thinking our June plans. We were to do 4 at WDW and 2 at US/IOA. However, that would actually cost us more than doing a 6 night MYW ticket w/hoppers + 1 day ticket to waterpark. Soooo, I think we are going to save US/IOA for next year. Since we've already gone on a vacation once this year(out of pocket), we need to keep the costs down on this one. :thumbsup2 Now I get to start re-figuring our day to day plans.

When I left you we were about to ride Soarin' with our fastpasses from earlier. We head down the line and only had about a 5-10 minute wait. Did I mention that the park was CROWDED this day?? It wasn't at summer time capacity but to me it was close. Definitely not like the usual February crowds.

Anyway, it is almost our turn. We have our "line number" and we are waiting and watching the pre-video. The mom in front of me turns to me and asks if we've ridden this before. She asks if it's scary and if her kids will freak out. I give her a quick run down on it and tell her the lies that I told my son when we first rode it......"it just FEELS like you are up high but your really not" ( :rolleyes1 ) We have a quick giggle and now it's time to board. We head to our row (ROW 1, BY THE WAY!!! SCORE!!!). We are strapping the kids in and realize there are 2 of us standing there and only one seat left. :confused3 Ok, so the CM mis-counted for the line. Another CM came over to see why we weren't seated yet. They see what the problem is and since myself, DH and DS are the last 3 on the row they apologize and ask us if we would please wait for the next ride. We say "sure, no problem" and I start to unbuckle DS from the seat. That's when I hear the lady who was so sweet and nice to me in the line only 2 minutes ago say "WELL SHE SHOULD LEAVE BECAUSE THEY HAVE RIDDEN IT BEFORE!!!" Her husband tells her to quiet down and she say's "I DON'T CARE". I just look over my shoulder at her and smile as I walked away. She knew she made an idiot of herself. I didn't have to say a word. Besides, yes we've ridden the ride before and yes, we are WDW veterans. You know what that means?? That means that I KNOW that we are going to receive a little pixie dust for the mistake. ;) And in true Disney style that's EXACTLY what happened. When it was our turn to ride, we got front row again (of course) and we were also given a fast pass voucher to any ride in the park that we wanted to use it on!! :woohoo: This means that we WOULD get to ride DS's favorite ride at Epcot......TEST TRACK before dinner! :yay: We were beginning to think that wasn't going to happen.

Fast pass voucher! Sorry it's blurry. I was trying to walk and take a pic at the same time.
http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2709/4392735604_b23775c963.jpg

As we were leaving Soarin' I got a text from Jordan saying they had just found Nemo! We started to walk out of the land pavillion and who should we run right into?? JORDAN, WINKERS & DJAY!!!!! :dance3: We had a nice chat and shared some laughs. I told them about what had just happened on Soarin' and showed them our handy dandy voucher. Why we didn't take any pictures during this time is beyond me. I was so excited to see everyone again the thought didn't even cross my mind. :rolleyes1 Besides, this night was to be our dinner at The Wave anyway. We knew we were all meeting up in a few short hours. :thumbsup2

When we left the group we headed over to Test Track and got our first ride on!! It was a ton of fun as usual. Here is our photo pass picture. (quick comment about the photo pass CD. I wasn't going to get one this trip but I finally caved after receiving the email coupon after our trip!)

I wonder if one of the guys in the back seat could pass for Rosie's "hot italian".

DS in front of "Bumblebee" as he calls it. (he loves Transformers!)

After Test Track we left Epcot and headed back to OKW to freshen up and get ready for dinner at The Wave! I had brought gifts for everyone and had to gather them all up before we left. I gave each person a pretty Disney ink pen and also a "themed" gift. I based each theme off of the contents of their PTR's. :rolleyes1

At about 5:30 we arrived at The Wave inside the Contemporary resort.
http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4034/4370893425_c35bb6d1a8.jpg
It was a really nice restaurant. The first person to arrive was Rosie!! :yay: We gave each other a big hug and sat in the waiting area for about 2 minutes when our buzzer went off. Our table was ready!!! WOW, that was FAST!! I sent out a text to Winkers and Jordan (i think) telling them that we already have a table. I think they grabbed a cab to get there a little faster. Jordan said that his cousin Wendy (WendyO from his TR's) and her family had arrived! :cool1: They were actually staying at The Contemporary in Bay Lake Tower! As they got settled into the room, we had dinner. Here is a picture of the gang! Sorry mine is a little blurry. I brought my little point and shoot to dinner rather than lugging the bigger camera. I never learn! :sad2: Anyway, our poor server actually stood there and took a picture with each of our cameras!! :rotfl: She was a really good sport.
http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4026/4371641546_cab16edc12.jpg

We started by catching up a bit and letting everyone get their drink orders in. Then it was time to exchange some gifts!! I have been debating on whether I should post about the gifts that I got each of them or just let them do it. I have decided that I can post about it and when they post on their TR's they can let us in on what they were thinking when they got the gifts. :lmao:

As I mentioned before, I themed the gifts from their own PTR's. Let me first apologize for not having taken ANY photo's of them actually receiving their gifts!! I know, I know....BAD DISER!!

So, let's start with Rosie.....I knew she was on the hunt for that HOT ITALIAN so I told her that I found something that might help her out.....
http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4035/4391931755_cc64b18b2e.jpg

Then we moved on to Jordan. I remember him posting about how he admired this guy he saw on one of his previous trips that was wearing a kilt! :rolleyes1 As much as I would have LOVED to buy this man a kilt, I had no idea how expensive those things were until I started scouring the internet!! :scared1: So, I got the next best thing...... A Kilt coozie for his drink. :lmao:
http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2566/4392702086_ff48d66123.jpg

Last but not least was Winkers (Cherie')! I knew from reading her last TR and her PTR that she'd been having some "issues" with MIL. I told her that I had brought her a gift straight from Louisiana to help her out. Sometimes you just need a little New Orleans voodoo! So I brought her a MIL voodoo doll....:lmao:
http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4032/4392702100_c1d3afd250_o.jpg

I'm still wondering if she's been putting that thing to use. Her kitchen does seem to be coming along a lot faster since she's gotten home from the trip. I'm just sayin'. :rolleyes1

Winkers and DJay told us that they had something for us too but that it was too big to bring to dinner. :scared1: Ok, now I"m skeered!! :rotfl2:

Rosie gave us a goodie bag filled with stuff!
http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4059/4392736016_bb28603de6.jpg
Inside, I found a magnet from Niagra Falls where she lives, a yummy chocolate caramel heart candy, some wet wipes (thanks to Jordan's PTR):lmao:, and a ziplock bag with two types of toilet paper.....one "folded" and one "scrunched". :lmao::lmao::lmao: (You would have had to read Jordan and Winkers PTR's to get that one. ) She also included an English silver three penny bit!! They do not make these anymore. I thought that was very nice of her to include.
http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4034/4391965725_1ecd313fc1.jpg
Thank you, Rosie!!

Here is a pic of my new magnet on my fridge along with my other Disney magnets! I try to get one from each trip.

Now on to dinner.........

This was our first table meal so I wasn't sure exactly how the food allergy thing would work just yet. I'm happy to say that I didn't even have to ask for the Chef. He was at our table right after we were seated!! :cloud9: At this particular meal, we were told that he was concerned about the bread in the buns for the hamburgers. I can't for the life of me remember what he said about the pasta marinara or if he said anything about it. He said that the cheese pizza will be okay and so that's what we got for DS. He also got the carrot sticks and the strawberry yogurt without the granola on top. This meal turned out to be very stress free for us. It was fantastic!!! :wizard:

Now to remember what myself and DH got.....let me check the menu.....

Ah yes, I had the beef tenderloin but with the fingerling potato salad and avacado mousse on the side. Those didn't come with the beef tenderloin, they actually came with another dish (i think the flat iron steak) but they said I could mix it up like that so I did. :thumbsup2 I wanted to try the beef but I was intrigued by the sound of the avacado mousse.
http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2690/4371639828_f2d4149a4b.jpg
The meal was good but not overly impressive. I am partial to my DH's steaks, though! What can I say... the man can GRILL!! :goodvibes I'm happy to say that the avacado mousse was a nice treat. I really enjoyed it.

I believe DH got the beef tenderloin too but had different sides. He didn't really care for his. I don't know why he continues to order grilled anything when he KNOWS he won't like it as well as his own. I keep telling him to branch out more. :rotfl:

Fun and giggles at dinner....
http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2692/4371651198_6a85fd666f.jpg

Now, time for desert!! I think most of us ordered the same thing. :rotfl2: We'll have to wait and see on everyone else's TR's. Here is the description:
Creamy Indulgence - Cheesecake with Raspberry Coulis, Coconut Panna Cotta with Passion Fruit Drizzle, Chocolate-Passion Fruit Mousse with Pecan-Olive Brittle
http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4048/4370892315_300a134dca.jpg

It was pretty good. The one in the middle was better if you sort of scraped some of the fruit juice from the top and ate the desert at the bottom.

This dinner was GREAT!! It was a wonderful restaurant at a wonderful resort at a table filled with wonderful friends and family! At one moment I thought to myself.....I WISH EVERY TRIP WAS LIKE THIS. We really loved being able to meet up with some friends on this trip.

Next up.........Wendy & Derek are semi-settled into their villa in Bay Lake Tower. Should we take a peek???

Gag gifts are fun. I was cracking up every day while shopping around pre-trip.

Hi there! I have seen you over on Jordan's TR & jumped over here. I'm excited to get to read about your trip from different perspectives. Your first day sounds amazing!! How fun to get to have a Dis meet on your first night at a good restaurant. Is there anything better than that?

On a side note, I might have missed this info....how did you figure out your son's food allergies? My son is almost 2 1/2 & we have been fortunate to not have any allergies yet. I thought we were in the clear. Did you have any indications when he was younger, or did it just start all of a sudden? I can imagine how scary it must have been to order at all of the different restaurants. I can't believe how rude people can be, especially when it seems like it would be obvious what you were looking for!!

First off :welcome: Thanks for coming over!!

As far as the peanut allergy we had no idea or indication. I can't remember what the age was that you are supposed to wait to introduce peanuts or peanut butter but I waited another year and a half. I was paranoid. But when introduced, nothing happened. He never was a big peanut or peanut butter eater but he has had it a few times a year. Last August he ate a peanut butter and jelly sandwich for lunch (at my suggestion because he never eats that) and he just started getting welts all over around his mouth and chin. I knew this was an allergic reaction because he had the same reaction years earlier to green peas. He was never "formally" diagnosed as being allergic to the sweet peas. The pediatrician just said to wait another year then try them again. Needless to say after the peanut reaction last August I went to an allergist to have him tested. He is allergic to pea's and peanuts which are both legumes. We have to be very careful with legumes. I'm still learning all the beans and peas that are considered legumes. It is hard and confusing. There are some that he is not allergic to like soy. And that just makes it even more complicated when you are trying to explain it to someone on the spot who is preparing his food. It's a mess, I tell ya! I think I will be cooking in the room for our June trip. :rolleyes1

Can't wait to hear all about your meets and see pictures of the fun times! Sure hope I can participate in one of these DisMeet extravaganzas sometime!

If you've read my PTR you know that we weren't sure if our brand new Yukon would make it there or not.

 Don't you LOVE that feeling!? I always have all of my fingers and toes crossed that our room will be ready so we can unload the car before heading to the parks. Sometimes, it actually works!

This time I put the reservations under DH's name for the first time ever. I wonder if this had anything to do with it??
Well, OF COURSE it did!! You know the wife's golden rule: It's ALWAYS the husband's fault!
;)

We eventually got tired of being beat up by the wind. It really wears you out! Of course we soldiered on!! I mean come on........IT'S DISNEY WORLD!!! :woohoo:
I don't know what's worse... being exhausted by cold and wind, or heat and humidity!:confused3

You may remember that we have found that DS has severe food allergies. He is allergic to peanuts and green peas (legumes). We have to carry an epi-pen.
Wow... I sure hope this doesn't become a source of drama for the whole trip. I hope Disney was able to make this a non-issue most of the time!

This was DS's first time to ride EEA. He wanted to see the dinosaurs because he was thinking about riding the ride "Dinosaur" in Animal Kingdom for the first time this trip. He thought this would be a good way to build up to that.
What did he think of it? Tyson was bored to tears. After the initial "oooooo" of the dinosaur scene... it was "is this almost over?" after that! Just wondering what your little guy thought.

They were sitting outside of EEA and we totally missed each other!!!

I have to check it out. We have kilts (and yes, it's like buying a tux...not a suit but a tux!), but no kilt kozy. Did you just search "kilt" and it came up?

That would be the bomb for fathers day....

Here is a link to the person I bought it from:

Can't wait to hear all about your meets and see pictures of the fun times! Sure hope I can participate in one of these DisMeet extravaganzas sometime!

So glad you made it there safely and that the lemon lasted for the trip!

Great idea!:thumbsup2
Oh my gosh... I can smell the Disney air when I see this! LOVE Old Key West! Just LOVE it!!

I hope we get to meet you sometime too!!
I'm so glad the car lasted.
I love OKW too. We are excited to get to try out AKV but OKW feels like home to us because we've been there every trip since 2007.

It wasn't at summer time capacity but to me it was close. Definitely not like the usual February crowds.
Whoever is marketing the 'off' seasons is doing a dang fine job! We went in November during an 'off' season and it was SO crowded, too! What gives?!:confused3

That's when I hear the lady who was so sweet and nice to me in the line only 2 minutes ago say "WELL SHE SHOULD LEAVE BECAUSE THEY HAVE RIDDEN IT BEFORE!!!"
What the?!?:sad2: Ridiculous!

When it was our turn to ride, we got front row again (of course) and we were also given a fast pass voucher to any ride in the park that we wanted to use it on!! :woohoo: This means that we WOULD get to ride DS's favorite ride at Epcot......TEST TRACK before dinner! :yay:
Ah... sweet vengance!

I had brought gifts for everyone and had to gather them all up before we left.
And you did this on top of all of the stuff you were doing for DS's school and teachers?!?! :worship: You are awesome!

:rolleyes1

Thank you for the info. I think that I have gotten a little forgetful about allergies since we haven't had to deal with them yet. My son eats peanut butter all the time and we have had no problems (thank goodness!), but I guess I didn't realize that other things can pop up later in life. Thanks again.

This made me think of a great scene in the Charlie Chaplin move "The Great Dictator". In the scene he's a jew in one of the slums and they need a volunteer for a suicide mission. They give each man a pudding and announce that one of them has a coin in it and whoever gets the coin is the person for the mission. Well, somewhere back in the baking of the puddings, all of them got a coin put in them. While they're eating there's a bunch of switching puddings when people aren't looking and Charlie ends up swallowing a bunch of coins rather than announce he has the coin. When he finally gets up he rattles with all of the change in his stomach. :rotfl:

At the moment we are re-thinking our June plans. We were to do 4 at WDW and 2 at US/IOA. Since we've already gone on a vacation once this year(out of pocket), we need to keep the costs down on this one. :thumbsup2 Now I get to start re-figuring our day to day plans.

Great update Blue! Loved the gifts! Jordan's koozie was cracking me up! The rude woman in Soarin was totally  but at least you got some nifty consolation prizes. The Wave looked aewsome. And I loved the "Behind the scense of Jordan's TR" photo! Can't wait to hear all about your encounter with Wendy and crew.

Thanks! :goodvibes
The koozie made me laugh out loud when I first saw it. I knew I had to get it.
I love consolation prizes! :thumbsup2
Hopefully I will get an update done in the near future!

I have to koozie right next to me right now.

:rotfl2: Awesome!!

Tate would love a stylin' one like that!!! :rolleyes1

Blue--

See? I tease you about an update, then I can't even respond until 2 days later!! Ah well...

I'd take a FiP for a rude comment. ;)

Glad you had such a wonderful time at dinner. You gifts had me stifling loud snort laughing tonight! Too hilarious!

:rotfl2: Hey at least you're here right??
Yeah, I thought I came out ahead in that whole ordeal.

The scrunched and folded TP was the best.

:rotfl2: TRUE!

That was pretty funny. Hopefully you didn't require it during the trip.

:lmao::lmao:
I am all caught up here too. My stupid computer broke. Now I am back on Disboards. I am loving your report so far. The gifts were so funny. It looks like you had a good first day.

LAURA!!!! So glad you are here.

I totally hate rude people like the lady at Soarin and the ones at the restaurants that I know you endured...but it sounds like this trip was
a good one especially getting to meet all of your DIS friends! The more the merrier right!

Hi there!!
Yes, the trip was GREAT!!!!! It was so much fun having a group there.

Hey girl!!

I am all caught up now!!

Okay, that lady at Soarin......oooh!! I am so proud of you for just smiling your cute smile and walking away!! That would have made me so mad!! Ugh!!!

LOL!! Those gifts were too cute!!!!! Now, about that MIL voodoo doll.....:rolleyes1 I seriously need one of those!

HEATHER!!!
How are you feeling??? Hope all is well in baby-making land! :rotfl:
It didn't make me mad really. I knew she was an idiot when she started yelling that out. Now, another lady about 2 days later......that's a different story. This was was nothing compared to THAT ONE!! Just wait. :rolleyes1

:lmao::lmao: OMG, that is too funny!! Yes, you MAY need one of those dolls for WWOTW.

Great gifts! How creative you are :thumbsup2

What a bizarre woman at Soarin'! Strange, rude, and entirely unnecessary comment as you were getting up anyway. Whatever!

The dessert at the Wave looked really good. I love little samplers like that. I'm always torn between several different desserts and that solves the dilemma.

Thanks!
Yeah she was unnecessary for sure.
I like the samplers too!! YUMMY!!! :goodvibes

I was looking for mini chonies but couldn't find any or a Pole for Cherie to dance around !!:lmao:

2012 is gonna be easy with thwe special celebrations !!!;)
:rotfl2:

No girl, all you need is a set of them fine purty teeth and then you won't be bothered no mo!

:rotfl:

Blue, your a sweet lady, and there are just nasty people out in the world looking out for them and them only, don't even give those rude people a second thought. :goodvibes
When your heart is golden, you end up getting the blessings. Stay true. :thumbsup2

OMGosh I just laughed so loud that DH came running in!!! :rotfl2::rotfl2: My teeth are purty fine, huh??

I try. Really I do. But, the next lady I encountered didn't get a sweet smile from me. I can assure you. :guilty: I did stop while I was ahead so that's good I suppose. You'll see what I mean when I get to day 3.

The food looks soo good!

Also great gift ideas!

Thanks!
Yep, Pixie Dust came our way!!
Dinner was great.

sheesh, can't a woman take a little nyquil and not be 6 pages behind when she wakes up?;)

Seeing all the pictures of me is encouraging me to diet....I'm tired of playing count the chins when I see me in a picture.

The crazy lady at soarin just blows my mind...I don't understand people like that.
:rotfl2: Were you asleep for several days?? Mine is not nearly as fast as Jordans!

Girl, you need to stop!! You are BEAUTIFUL!! Look at your wonderful smile in those pictures. :goodvibes

Crazy lady was crazy but not as crazy as crazy lady on parade day. :rolleyes1
Hi Blue!!

Hi Rosie!!

If so, I'm sure we'll hear all about it! :rotfl2:

QUICK UPDATE ON "REAL" LIFE....
I've been planning and shopping and cleaning for DS's b-day party this Saturday!! That's why I haven't been around much. SORRY!! I'm sure once the party is done, I will be able to get an update in. I thought maybe Saturday night but now I've been invited to this new thing here in town called "painting with a twist". You gather some friends and go to this place with your own wine and/or appetizers and they provide everything else to teach you how to draw and paint the painting of the night. It's laid back with plenty of time for socializing. Sounds like a lot of fun so I said "I'm in!!" I will have to post pictures from that when it's all done. Soooo, please forgive me for not being here much the past few days. I promise to be back to posting soon!

WE ARE NOW DVC OWNERS!!!!!!!:woohoo::yay::dance3::cheer2::cool1:: banana:

After much thought, we decided to buy 160 points at Animal Kingdom Villas.

(Thanks to WendyO & glennbo for the helpful info!!)

We may add more points later. But for now they matched our points for this year and we also got $15 off per point. It was a deal we just couldn't pass up. I must say it feels awesome to be "in the club". Hopefully we will get our 1st trip booked soon. I'm waiting for our package to arrive to get all the technical stuff done but I think we may be going back this summer. We will get to try out our home resort at AKV with a savannah view! Soooo.....who else is going in June????

awesome!!!!!! congrats! that's so exciting! we really want to do this one day but i need to pay off some student loans and credit cards first.

:rolleyes1

what a nightmare! :scared1: i'm really curious how this plays out because my best friend's little boy has severe peanut allergies. he's 3 now and i'm sure they will go back to WDW in the next few years. they went when he was like 9 months old but back then they didn't know about his allergies and of course he wasn't eating a whole lot of disney food anyway, mostly baby food and breast milk. anyway, can't wait to see if it gets better!

:yay: We were beginning to think that wasn't going to happen.

what the french, toast???? :sad2: people never cease to amaze me.

Why we didn't take any pictures during this time is beyond me. I was so excited to see everyone again the thought didn't even cross my mind. :rolleyes1

this happened to me the first time i met winkers! we were at casey's and randomly ran into each other. then after we talked and each went and ate with our families/friends, i went back out to where they were sitting and told her i had totally forgotten to get a picture and she said she had, too! i think it's just the excitement of seeing friends that makes us forget about getting that ever-important kodak moment!

your gifts for everyone were PERFECT!!!! :thumbsup2 well done, and how thoughtful!

I am partial to my DH's steaks, though! What can I say... the man can GRILL!! :goodvibes

we have this problem, too! not that it's really a problem. but there have been very few places that we've found better steaks than ray can make himself. including le cellier. i'm not saying it was bad, but his are better. people think i'm crazy when i don't want to eat there but i'd rather try something i can't get at home!
