Oceaneers Club - Questions!

Our daughter will be 4 on our planned cruise next year. The Oceaneers Club sounds like a great resource, and I'd love her to take advantage of it.

A couple of questions, though:

Can parents sit in on any of the activities? Our daughter is pretty independent, but for the first day or so, I know she'd feel better if I were there at least for part of the session.

Is it possible to dip in and out of the programs? For example, can she go for an hour or so at story or dance time, but then come out to eat or play or swim with us and then back in again?

Is there a limit on the number of kids - that is, is it possible to be turned down for registration for all or part of the cruise?

And one question that isn't directly related: I hear there's a height minimum for the slide at the children's pool - anyone recall what it is? Our daughter is a big slide fan, and I can't imagine having to deny her the pleasure of that great long slide!

That's all for starters, though I'm sure I'll have more questions.

From what I've read on these boards, here's a few answers for you:

Parents are welcome in the club with their child. I may be taking advantage of this if my just-turned-3 isn't able to handle the potty all by herself.

Your child can enter and exit the club to take part in specific activities, there is no minimum amount of time that she would have to stay, you can even pick her up in the middle of an activity if she is not having fun. The only time that they do not let kids enter or leave is when they are "in transit" to another part of the ship.

There will be a place for your child in the Club so you will not be turned away. DCL limits the number of children on board so if you are onboard, they have room for your child in the Club.

There's been several posts about the height limits for the Mickey slide. I don't remember the requirements. . .

The Mickey Slide is restricted to kids between 38 and 64 inches between the ages of 4 and 14.

Great info - thanks. But what do you mean "DCL limits the number of kids on board"? Is it possible that the limit would be reached even with cabins available? We've already sent in our details, including birthdates, so I assume that means we're "ok", but we're hoping some friends will join us. They'll only sign up later, though. Is there a chance that the limit would be reached? Has that happened before?!

Thanks, also, Dave, for the slide info - our daughter is tall (already 36 inches), so by next fall she should "slide" ride in!

Karen, yes, once DCL has reached the limit of the number of children they allow onboard (so that they can guarantee all children a place in the programming) they no longer book anyone traveling with with children. If you've already booked you're fine, your kids are definitely guaranteed space in the clubs. However, it IS possible that your friends may not be able to book with kids if they wait. It does happen.

We were at the Radisson for our 7/6 Western cruise. They hava a great pool and our room was very clean. We were very happy with the hotel. We left our Chevy Tahoe there for the week and had no problem. We moved our car up as close to the front of the building as possible and looked for a spot under a light. Our only concern was we left 2 full sets of golf clubs in the back for my husband and brother-in-law that they were going to use at Disney after the cruise. Everything was fine when we got back. We also left our car at the hotel 2 years ago and had no problem. The lots are not really what I would call secure, you do park and your own risk, so I think you need to do what you are most comfortable with.
