I call her MOM!
I reported some time ago that I had to admit my Dad into the hospital because he had a mild stroke. He's 83 and it scared most of us to death. A week later my Mom had to be admitted because of her hip.
They were in two different hospitals but could speak to each other by phone. Then some genius transferred my Mom to a LifeCare facility to convalesce. She had no phone and no TV! For a sharp person like my mother it was a nightmare. The worse part, she couldn't talk to my Dad.
Every weekend I'd make the 2 hour drive to Chattanooga to connect them by cell phone. My Mother was beside herself worrying about my Dad. He was not doing well and she was having bad dreams about him... :(
Well, to make a very LOOOOOONG story short, my sister pulled LOTS of strings and got my Mom transferred not only to my Dad's hospital, but across the hall from him!! This was a week ago.
In a weeks time my Dad has gained weight, is able to get around on his own and this morning when I called my Mom's number HE answered it!! He told me he was watching her sleep...
They have been married for 60 years. To keep them apart was cruelty. The nurses laugh about how they have to keep these two "lovers" apart ;) ....
This past weekend was the first time I realized how strong a bond they have. And I now see that they really live up to the vow "Till death do us part...."
:D

Yes, they are! Before she was in Red Bank so you see what a nightmare that was going back and forth! It's a blessing to all of us!

I think Atlanta is safer to drive through than Red Bank sometimes. There's some crazy drivers in Red Bank. I can't think of a hospital over there. Unless it's North Park.

It was actually a "nursing home", LCCRB, Life Care Centers of Red Bank. My sister works at the Post Office over there. What was funny was that she walked in there and saw all of her old customers that she was missing! "There's Miss Smith and there's Miss Carter! I was WONDERING what happened to them?"

Robin the only thing better would be having them in the same room. Glad your parents are together again and I hope they are soon out and home.

It was my MOM'S idea not to have them in the same room together! LOL! My Mom likes the Lifetime network, day in and day out and all my Dad watches are sports! They would NEVER stay in the same room together at home unless they were asleep!
Thanks everyone! My Dad may be coming home next week, thank the Lord! I will be staying with him a week, then we'll have to get a home health person in for awhile until my Mom comes home.
And C.Ann with all you've been through I feel so blessed to see you on my thread! We've all been praying for you, too!

That is really good news. I'm glad they are doing better. I'm sure that was so hard for them to be separated like that after being together for 60 years. Praying they continue to get better!
