Can anyone provide me additional information on the American Express White Glove Treatment?
When I made my reservations for this December at AKL and used my American Express Card, they told me that using this card entitled me to the White Glove Treatment, but I am unsure of what this all entails.
Is this White Glove Treatment really worth it or would it have been better to use another card that, for example would have given me airline miles.

We paid for our vacation in May with AMEX. We got two AMEX pin lanyards, 2 AMEX pins (I guess for trading?) and a discount book. There are discounts (10% I believe) at DTD stores and discounts on tours if you charge them to your AMEX card or on your room (if it's connected to your AMEX).
I don't carry a card for airline miles, so for us, it was worth it. But for what you get, it may be better to use a card where you get airline miles.

I am also a Disney Club holder and one member of our party is an annual pass holder, so it is sounding like I should use my card that gives me airline miles, instead of using my American Express card and receiving this white glove treatment.

if you go to the website www.wdwig.com it lists the benefits of the White Glove Treatment.

Just wanted to make sure you were aware the preferred card is changing. During a recent trip to the Beach Club (July 12-21). I was told during check - in "The white glove benefits are no longer available" Quote "We do not need American Express" I did receive the lanyards (only after I requested). The lanyards package comes with two lanyards and two white glove pins. There were no coupon books available. So.... I would suggest you go for the miles!!!

We were at WDW in early July and they gave us the lanyards and pins, but that was it. They also told us that AMEX would no longer be the official card of Disney World in the very near future.. As such, they didn't have any of the Disney Dining Guides as those were sponsored by Amex, and they had run out and no more were being printed......
Disney recently stuck up a deal with FirstCard and I assume that they may end up doing something as the 'new' official card....

The only thing we got when we checked into FW on 7/14/02 was a small coloring book and a pack of four crayons for each of my 3 kids. Not really what I thought of as "White Glove"!! I'm not a pin trader but wouldn't have minded the lanyards.

We also were not offered anything for using Amex...I asked & then was given the dining discount book, but the only place that worked for us was Rain Forest Cafe...and I think the shopping discount was a small % off a $50 purchase. I'd go for the miles next time too!

We used this in early June.
There is an "unofficial" Amex deal that we used in DTD.
If you have a "Disney" resort key (not including Swan or Dolphin) and show it and use your Amex card for a minimum $50 purchase, you get 15% off of your total purchase.
We were shopping anyway, and it was nothing to sneeze at- so we used it!!
I heard that there would be a "Disney" VISA card coming after the new year.

We used the Amex cards last week at the Broadwalk and they gave us only the lanyards and pins and nothing else.

I believe you get 15% off when using Amex at World of Disney if you are staying on site (but don't think you need to have charged your stay to Amex).

What about discounted admission to Disney Quest - that is also posted as a benefit.

The discount has been 15% on purchases of $25.00 or more at select DTD store (primarily those owned by Disney, restaurants and nightclubs are an exception). You are supposed to use the card to charge your room stay; they don't ask for proof, but they do ask for to see your room key.
If so inclined to use another card at this point, I would wait untill arrival and change it then. If you change now, CRO will probably cancel the original reservation and issue another. This may or may not affect the room rate and it may mean that you get a refund to your Amex for the deposit and get charged for the new deposit on the new card. Then you would have two deposits tied up untill your Amex bill comes and then you would have a credit not actual cash.

Just returned - It's 15% on $50.00 or more, and 10% on $25.00. As well, they do ask to see your resort key and AMEX card, as we saw people who didn't have one or the other, and were told to come back with proper id in order to get discount. Cast member told us that they had problems with people passing cards around to others for discounts, and so that is why they require id. We as well received the lanyards and pins. You get a brochure (there is one in each room as well), listing all of the White Glove benefits. I wore my lanyard, as did many others so that it identified us as White Glove members at the checkouts - this made it a lot easier when presenting id as well, as some people just borrowed other people's lanyards in order to try and secure the discounts.

Wow! What lengths some people won't go to to save a buck. I would have never thought of asking someone to let me borrow their room key to get a discount. What does one do, stand at the door and ask everyone who comes in if he/she can borrow their room key?
