anyone ever go to the beaches ALONE?

I may be able to get DH & DS to the beach at Castaway Cay (when they are not snorkeling) but should I make an attempt to get to the beach on St Marten if it was only me going? Or would I look too out of place? Would it be safe enough?

I think that you should be able to take the water taxi to the shopping area in St. Marteen and do the beach that is within site of the ship. I think it is either Great Bay or Magens beach. Check Dave's site for the info.

I don't think you should worry about being feeling out of place and I also think you would be very safe. The people of the caribbean islands are very aware that tourism is their number one industry and supplies jobs for many of them. The government and island people are also very aware that if tourist don't feel comfortable and safe while visiting their island it could have a devistating effect on their economy so they are very careful to make sure tourist are safe and happy. As long as you stay in the tourist areas you will have no problems.
