With the prices for HB, last year I paid around £190 for HB premium, and now its gone up to £244, DLP must be taking the Mickey here because how the hell is that saving me any money

I'm pretty much thinking about not getting HB vouchers now if thats the way they want to play. I'll give my money to the chaps at Mcdonalds instead.

:mad::mad:

Sorry for the vent but right now my eyes are popping out my head.

I know what you mean Emma, the HB prices have shot up (in sterling anyway) in the last year or so. I honestly don't think its worth getting them now.

Hmm, it's just the nature of inflation I suppose. It's the same at WDW: the cost of the (standard) Disney Dining Plan has gone up considerably. Last year, it was £19.99 (per person, per day), now it is £26.99!

How can they justify increasing them so much?

I'm so angry about it esp as I had planned where I was going to eat, I thought they might be £10 more than last time but to jump up another £60 is disgusting.

At least with the dining plan you get lunch and dinner and a snack, which to me is good value for money.

But a extra £60 just for dinner/lunch vouchers is not good value for money.

Looks like we will not be going BBWWS unless I win the lottery.

I agree, the plans offered at WDW are much better value. You've got an AP haven't you? I thought AP holders got quite a good discount on BBWWS?

Last year we paid £756.00 for four of us on half board plus, this year it's priced at £936.00, a price increase of £180!
In fact yesterday I was pricing up going again during the summer, last year 3157.80 (including half board plus and insurance) this year 4240.00, again a price increase of over £1000. Disney are pricing their flights at £588 whereas Air France are giving me the price of £500.
I'm hoping for a good offer to come along or we'll be leaving it for this year.

No I don't have a AP, I'm not planning on getting one either lol.

I dread to imagine what they will charge next year.

It certainly isn't inflation....we've had very low inflation. More like DLRP still making a loss and looking to claw it back somewhere.
Still, with Greece destroying the euro we might at least get a good exchange rate there......

Nope, never had a AP.... I may consider it once they start offering good AP deals again.

I've only ever used my AP once for a hotel discount! :sad2: The 20% off merchandise and 10% off in restaurants is pretty good though.

I got quoted (no joke) over £320 for Premium which is why we left it and decided we'll just pay when there...

I think everywhere for holidays has increased so much for 2010. Not just Disney. I daren't even look for our trip yet this year.

I know this is off topic but our Portaventura holiday in Spain has gone up by more than £1,500 for this year. Needles to say we aren't going.

I would take my chances at the actual restaurant prices with the shareholder discount rather than buying vouchers. Doesnt look like you will be saving a great deal and at least you can then please yourself.

to be honest i was amazed at what the prices for the vouchers were last year in sterling vs in euro. the truth is half board vouchers are not good value at all. you are only saving up to 15 percent and on the irish website its up to ten emphasis on the up to in many places you are saving next to nothing. i think they have brought them into line with the euro prices this year as well as the price increase of a couple of euros so now they seem outrageous.

The problem is mainly due to the change in exchange rate from € -> £.

When we were all buying the half board vouchers because they were so cheap, the reason they were cheap is because the price was set when £1 bought you a good amount of €.

Unfortunately, Disney then adjusted their prices in £ to match this rate, making them far more expensive for us.

Just a quickie as people are complaining about the food price increases, but does the Mcdonalds on-site do a breakfast menu...?. I would be quite happy to eat there rather then pay the seriously inflated food prices but would be a bit hesitant if they don't do breakfasts.

I have no had breakfast there but my Brother did in 2008 and he had a Mcdonalds breakfast but he said they are not what they sell here in the UK.

McDonalds in the Village does do an egg and bacon mcmuffin for 95 cents(bargain) - it was just like the one they do over here - they only had bacon on offer though no sausage or big breakfast, I missed my breakfast slot last week and was starving by 9am so popped in to see what was on offer, it was very nice - you could add a hot drink and the price was 2.15 euros.

Sorry Im confused - why would them not having a breakfast menu put you off eating there. Breakfast is included in most hotels - even the offsite ones so its the cost of other meals (and in particular the vouchers) thats really risen and is really annoying

It was Yummy popcorn:: - I usually go for a sausage & egg but I was so hungry that I didn't care - 95 cents was a bargain too, cheaper than here:thumbsup2

I've decided not to buy the vouchers this time, I'm convinced that I'm better off using my shareholders card to get my 15% discount. The biggest problem we had with the vouchers was that in some restaurants you had to order a 3 course meal when sometimes we only wanted 1 or 2. Combined with DD being ill we really didn't get our moneys worth from them in the buffet restaurants either which was a shame.

I'm really enjoying looking at all the different restaurants rather than just the ones on our "meal plan" too - will certainly be a different experience this time.

As Ukstitch says its the lag time that is causing the price difference. It is the same with $/£ when booking WDW.

Also with all the discounted rates DLRP have been giving on hotels I am guessing they are trying to recoop some of the money through increasing dining costs.

As always its swings and roundabouts - sometimes you benefit sometimes you dont :upsidedow

I really like the vouchers, to me it made my life easier with having pre-paid for them and then we had fun deciding where we wanted to eat and booking in the hotel that morning, it was only a couple of times that we put extra money to them and we still got our shareholders discount. They probably weren't good value for money but the above reasons made them that way for me.
Yes I know I could have put the money to one side and then divided into the days we were there but I'm lazy that way!! Lols

I'm the same as you Diane, I liked having my food paid for before i go. Its also easier for me to budget that way lol.

Not sure what we are going to do now.

If we decide to stay on-site were going to get them, Because they are pre-paid we know we will eat in decent restraunts like walts, the steakhouse or the buffets. lasttime we said we would ,but ended up eating in mcdonalds alot because we hated using so much of our spending money on food:headache: Also as we are going to lanzarote a few wks after we get back i still want to be able to fit into my bikini and i dont think i will if i eat burgers for 6days:rotfl2: It also helps with budgeting as well:thumbsup2

I liked the vochures last January as I didn't have to worry about money and it was good knowing they were all paid for however at Walts they wouldn't let me order from the HB Plus menu with the premium vochures which is why I am not getting them again as I want to order what I want!!
