UPDATE
Well today was supposed to be looking at more houses but when we went in I told her we were very very interested in this one. Well we were sent to a local conventional mortgage company and were approved for the house in under an hour through Trustmark. Well now it is simply putting pen to paper. The interest rate did go up .50 points today so our interest would be 7.25 on 30 years. So what it looks like now is that we are going to talk very very seriously tonight...again this is something we planned on doing in the months to come not something that was supposed to happen overnight. Anyway where it stands is we are either going to make an offer on the house tomorrow or we are going to decide to see if we can find something a little cheaper. I personally think that this is the house we will end up with because it is perfect. I don't see a problem with affording the payments but we will see later after our discussion.
Okay moving to Florida, we probably won't. John was offered way too much money to stay here and it would just not be very smart to move. Even though I would LOVE LOVE to he just couldn't hope to have the money there that he is getting here now. It shouldn't have any effect whatsoever on our Orlando trips. As a matter of fact in the long and short run we will save a good bit of money. You have to realize that right now, John and I own a home and are making payments (and utilities), my mom owns a home making utility payments and my grandmother has an apartment and pays $500 in rent and more in utility payments....So we are taking 3 households and combining them into one. My mom owns her house and is planning on putting it on the market soon. As for our house we are simply asking for $2,000 equity and assume the mortgage payment. We really just want to walk away from it since its a mobile home and they are hard to sell. Okay thats long enough..LOL!

Looks good, Beth. I am coming to Mississippi. That house here would be about $450,000!!!
Beauty
07-29-2002, 10:44 PM
LOL Dan! A 450,000 dollar home here would be a mansion!!! I don't think there are hardly any over say $350000 and those are HUGE HUGE!! I wish I could show you all pictures of the inside. The first thing out of my mom's mouth was OH MY....what does this remind you of? The Wilderness Lodge! Its all in deep dark wood and the den has huge ceilings and you walk up the stairs to a living room that overlooks the den. They had a sitting room and sure enough you looked down and it was like the 2nd floor of WL....Plus across the back of the den is all glass! Its very very open....If everything works out for us I will definatly get inside pictures and post them for you all. We are so excited...mom just called me talking about where we would put what furniture...I've never seen her this excited.

What a beautiful home! I hope everything works out for you!
Its exactly the style I love but would never afford here in NJ. Theres no way a big beautriful home like that would be in the 200,000 range around here!
Good luck!

With all that glass, I'd be considering a storm cellar.
Beauty
07-29-2002, 10:59 PM
LOL! I would consider a storm cellar anywhere!! It kind of neat you can't tell in the picture but the front yard is built up on a small hill and then you walk down to the house. Its so so nice! Like I said we NEVER imagined walking into just exactly what we were looking for. I'm off to bed, up again early in the morning to talk financing, offers....all this stuff I have no idea about...LOL! Thanks for the luck everyone.

Wow, what a pretty house. And so huge. I could only dream of finding a house that size in this area for anywhere close to that price.
It sounds like you had a real good realtor and it's super that such a house just happened to be listed. Maybe it was meant to be. :D
Good luck!

nice house!
We did the same thing when we were looking - the first weekend we looked at about 3 houses, all of them blah - the next weekend we found our house and put an offer on it even before it went on the market. We live in it now!!!
Dan - you should move up here to Milwaukee, a house like that would only cost you $200,000 here, and you could hang that Packer flag out in front!

Will you be able to sell your house? Whats this going to do to your plans on moving to FL in the future? IS that on hold? Will your mom be able to sell her house too? Will this put a damper on future fl trips now? Do the animals get their own room too? These and many more questions await you Beth!

I was going to say the same thing as Dan! I can't believe how low your taxes are there! Ours just went up again and we are paying more than double that for a slightly smaller house!
It's a really pretty house, Beth. I hope it all works out for you.

What a great house!!! We've been passively looking for a bigger house for the last 3 or 4 years , so I know how excited you must be to find exactly what you want so quikly! Good luck with everything:Pinkbounc
Very nice.
Here are some practical questions, not show stoppers but things to ask so if they give the wrong answere you can bring it up at price time:
1) How old is the heater / Air system. How often was in maintained and what does it use for energy?
2) How old is the roof?
3) How about the hot water heater?
4) Doest the in-law suite have it's own heat/ac/hot water?
5) Any Bugs?
Now this is real improtant - does the area have cable modem or DSL so you can DIS fast? LOL
Bennet / Zurg
Good luck..I hope everything works out for you. The house is beautiful!! :) :)

Awesome update, Beth! I'm sure all the practical answers will come up in the inspection!
I'm seriously considering moving my parents in with me and my sister and moving to Fla. It would be the best for all of us overall. If I can only talk them out of Chattanooga!
It will save you all money. If my parents and my sister and my family moved in together we could stop paying a combination of $2200!

LOL Bennett, I already know the answers to most of your questions,
1. 4 years old, they were all replaced when the current owner moved in.
2. The roof was redone in 1997
3. I honestly don't remember about the water heater although I know I saw that I just don't recall.
4. Yep the mother-in-law suite has its own unit. There are 3 total units in the home....Electricity runs on average (12 months of paying the same exact bill each month....$170)
5. Nope no bugs. That has to be thouroughly checked and documented before any home can be sold in the state of Mississippi....which I think is WONDERFUL!!! You have to have the certificate that is no older than 30 days at the time of sale.

The house looks beautiful! How great that you found something you like so quickly. And it sounds like your Mom likes it too! I hope all goes well with it.
I'm also sick to stomach thinking about how much house you can get for $225,000. Prices around here are just out of control.

I was just wondering if you had tried several different mortgage companies or banks? Some are a little tougher than others but I would think you would be able to get a little better than 7.25%, Hec the rate my even decrease by Friday...
Crossing my fingers that you get what you desire... good luck!

And also my first thought was wow look at those taxes, so low. Here is a link to what you could get here for $340,000, but check out the taxes!

Those are both really nice houses....Pam you live close to WWE headquarters...ROTFLOL...Okay forget wrestling (just for a moment..lol) I was actually pretty "house buying" stupid. I thought taxes were all paid in one lump sum at the end of the year. I had no idea they were added into your house payment. I much much prefer it this way.
Robin I agree.....my mom is just really scared right now because it all happened so quickly. Together we pay right at $2,000 per month not to mention that my light bill was $300 moms was $300 and my grandmother's was $180....Okay this will save so so much. Food for one family, less eating out because my grandmother and mom both love to cook just never had a family to cook for. Why Chattanooga? Not that I don't like it there, its very pretty especially Rock City!! But Florida, WOW that is still my dream but we have to look at promotions and what John has here.....so we'll just have to visit more:)

Wow, Beauty! That's a nice house! I was surprised by the price - here you'd pay atleast $400,000 for something like that (or, in the really nice neighborhoods, $600,000+!).

you live close to WWE headquarters
ROFL! Maybe that's why the prices are so much higher than where you are.
Beauty.....I know where the headquarters is located. They fly a giant flag. The best thing about the XFL ending was they took down the very scary huge black flag that used to fly over the headquarters. Now, the studios are a secret....but I'm pretty sure I know where they are if you want to do some stalking. ;)
Beauty
07-30-2002, 09:27 PM
LOL Pam! DH wouldn't let me do any stalking, drooling is too much for him....LOL!!! I would love to see Stamford though! I can only imagine the house Vince McMahon has....or Shane McMahon for that matter. I read on a wrestling board today that they just bought a new vacation home in Boca Raton for the LOW LOW price of only 14 million!!
