View Full Version : Should I wait for DC discount when I have AAA?

I am both a DC and AAA member. I have already booked our POR room for next April with my TA, with no discount, we have been waiting for the DC discounts to come out. Since AAA rates are now out, can I call CRO and get my AAA discount on that existing ressie? It doesn't make sense to me to wait for the DC rates to come out when they are essentially the same. Thoughts?

I have heard that if the room was booked by a TA only the TA can make changes to the reservation. You may need to call your TA and have her ask about a AAA discount.

Actually, your TA will have to make the call for you, but yes, it's a good idea to get the AAA rate through CRO. The Disney Club rates are usually identical and they have to be booked through Walt Disney Travel Company, which requires you to pay the entire cost in advance, unlike CRO. Also, if a code discount comes out later, you'd probably have to transfer or rebook your reservation into CRO. It's all much less complicated if you have a booking with AAA.

So if the AAA and DC discounts are the same, why not wait till the DC one comes out (I have an existing basic pkg. plan booked for next April)? Is there any rhyme or reason to it? Should I have the TA go to all the trouble to transfer the ressie now over to AAA? The only glich I can think of is the basic pkg. is more than just a room ressie without the discount...175.00 more, maybe for the luggage tags and mini golf attached to the pkg. plan? I sure do like those tags! But its probably not worth 175.00! What should I do? Should I hassle my TA about this and switch to AAA?

I would call up your TA and have her change the ressie to a AAA discount (if available). Look at it this way, it is her job to do these things, if noone used her services, she would be out of a job. :D

I would apply a "code discount" which would be better than AAA or DC!

But donnamerry codes are not available for April yet. I would have the TA apply the AAA discount now. And when / if a code becomes available, have the TA change it again.
I changed to a code last Monday and then changed to a AP discount on Sunday. It is not that difficult and only takes a few minutes.
