I was a bit worried about the birdlings today, as NJ is experiencing a heat wave starting today and lasting through at least Friday. It didn't seem to affect the birdlings beyond being a bit more lethargic than usual. But being lethargic isn't always bad! As you can see, I was able to snap some wonderful pics of the little ones! :)

I opened my door this morning, worried about the condition of the little birdies in the extreme heat and humidity to find Sleepyhead greeting me! I was so excited! The birds are getting so big they're starting to "hang over" the edge of the nest!

And aren't these two adorable? :)

If I'm not mistaken, you can see the "ear" of one of the birds at the top of the picture, and the position of the bird on the right can't be comfy! LOL!

As you can see, the birds - or Mom and Dad Bird - have been "decorating" their home in lieu of seeking a "port-a-potty", but it doesn't seem to be bothering the little ones! :)

Kara that first photo needs to be in a photo contest. It is the perfect pic of a baby bird.

That first picture is a classic. You HAVE to print these out and make a scrapbook when they're grown. Or maybe you could write a book? The pictures are priceless!

The birdlings are getting soooo big!! It's amazing how fast they grow. Sleepyhead looks so funny in that first picture--what an expression on his/her face. I hope the birdlings aren;t too uncomfortable in this heat.

MerryPoppins had a good idea--You've always wanted to write a children's book--maybe this could be the subject of your first effort. "The Arrival of Sleepyhead and Fro" followed by the "Adventures of Sleepyhead and Fro" You have all the illustrations to go along with it.

Oh WOW! I just saw this "story" for the first time, and all the other pages...just so wonderful. Thank you Kara, I love the close-ups and your comments. The babies seem so vulnerable, and so cozy and cared for in the little nest. I LOVE the children's book idea...may I order a copy as well for my nephews? :)

LOL! I've enjoyed your pictures and bird stories soooo much!:)

We had a robin start to build her nest and spent weeks on it. It was in the lilac bush right outside our bedroom window and we had a perfect view, but she tried twice to get "ready" to start her family (with daddy robin twittering on the fence) BUT we have a bunch of kids next door that swim in their 3 foot blow up pool (ughhhh....but that's another thread:mad: ) and they scared her off.....I felt so bad as she actually came back a week after and tried to sit again but the noise was awful and she left.... I guess to build a whole new nest. I'm glad you've had some great experiences with these little ones and some really great pictures too! Thanks so much for making my day!:sunny:
