Hello All!

I'm trying to figure out my disney math. So using tip amount as "x" since we can't talk about it...would the following be correct in order to figure out the DDP cost vs OOP? (I'm doing this in excel)

Total=(Entree+Desert+Drink+tax+x)

So what is the tax amount? Does the the total on the receipt on the dining plan include tax, or is that included in the price you pre-pay for?

The Tip is not included in the DP and I'm not sure if the tax would be included
in the % for the tip amount? That's a good question.

I go by the total of all items and figure out my % I would like to give.
I don't remember but I think that whenever you get your bill it
will give you a suggested tip amount for 18% but you don't have
to give that amount (you can give more or less).

Tax is included in the price of the dining plan. All you'd pay extra would be table service tips (and any off-plan items you order)

Right, all taxes are included in the cost of the DDP itself. So to compare prices vs. OOP, add tax (6.5% in most cases) to the OOP menu price to compare to the DDP price.

Presuming you'd order the same things with or without the plan (not an entirely safe assumption), the "x" factor you mention would be a wash, as it would be the same either way.

Okay I think I got it. For all my math (I have to see it written out) it would be
(entree+drink+desert+x) vs. (entree+drink+desert+tax+x)

I know the x seems like it shouldn't matter in the math, but I'm also trying to budget that amount for the trip.

Thanks everyone!! :goodvibes

I love your solution to discuss "the forbidden subject" without actually mentioning "the forbidden subject." I feel sneaky and a bit dirty, but quite happy.

It seems so, adult film, to discuss the X factor.

And this one is closed too. For questions on "Factor X" there is the tipping information thread at
