Hi everyone,
I was just wondering how late I can add the dining plan to my package...I'll be arriving May 6 and my package has to be paid off by March 22 (I think, somewhere around there!) and I was wondering if I could add it after I pay off my package? Like if I wanted to add it a few days before I get there, is that allowed? I'd like to do the dining plan, I just can't afford to add it now!
Thanks! :)

Hi, you have three days before you arrive to add the dining plan when you have a room reservation. I'm not sure about if you have a package. We did that for our trip in March but we are taking advantage of the military discounts. :)

According to my '08 Passporter Guide book you must add 5 day prior to your arrival!:thumbsup2 Of coure that might have changed in two years time, but you can still add it after your March payoff date!:woohoo:

To my knowledge the deadline has always been 3 days/72 hours. However I would not wait till the last minute to add it.

Thank you! I thought it was 3 days before you arrive, but for some reason, I couldn't find that info anywhere and I thought I was just making that up in my own mind or something! :) That's very helpful, at least it gives me time to decide if I want to add the plan or not!
Thanks again!

That's what I remember hearing. I think someone tried to add it 3 days before arrival but less than the 72 hrs and they couldn't add it.

As of right now you can book the dining plan, but you don't have to pay for it till you arriive!! That's suppose to change but your good for now!!!

If they have a WDTC package, they would have to pay for anything they add on if it is less than 45 days before arrival. Rescuetink is probably thinking of DVC members staying on points.
I had always heard 3 days/72 hours. However I never heard when the 72 hours began. 72 hours from 3 or 4 pm check in? :confused3 That's why I would not cut it short.
In addition I have read where some could not add on a DDP 5 - 7 days before their arrival due to booking through a TA.
I think that is where some of the confusion comes in too. My guess is anything beyond the 3 days is the TA policy, not Disney's. But that is just a guess on my part.

I have a question along the same lines. I am still unsure about adding the dining plan. I have to make my ADR's tomorrow. If I have to put deposits or pay for some tomorrow, will they credit that back to me if I decide to add the plan later?

Most if not all places that charge for the meal upfront will have to be cancelled and then re-booked when you switch it to a DDP reservation (if you want your CC refunded before going to WDW). If it's just a credit card hold then you don't have to do anything. You can show up at the restaurant and then tell them you are on the DDP.
