We are about ready to rent some points, but we have one small question. If I rent points, and a member makes my reservation, do I have to pay tax on the points at the resort, or is that not an issue because I am renting real estate from an owner? Sorry if it is a silly question.
Thanks in advance for your help!

You will not owe any tax- part of what makes renting such a good deal!

As DVC owners we don't pay the 11% hotel tax, so using someone's DVC points (by renting them) I can't imagine you would either.

Noy having to pay that 11% tax is one of the best and most often overlooked deal about DVC.

You will not have to pay the hotel tax. we did not pay any hotel taxes using points we rented this past Jan.
I agree that the tax savings can add up. I have a simple spreadsheet that shows our savings being DVC members. and at first I didn't have the taxes figured in for the cost of the room for our trip this coming Jan, when I added on the 11% that was a couple hundred dollars a trip. close to the cost of a park pass. so I agree that it is another savings that helps.
