I missed the blooming last year and I'm really looking forward to seeing (and smelling) it this year. It's growing 3-4 inches per day!

Oh yeah! That's the stinky flower that bloomed in Great Britain this year. It drew crowds.

I could get whiffs of it. It smells like dead rotting fish. Yum. One of the grad students said that the stench from last year's plant was "eye buring". I might go back today, but if it's that stinky I don't think my 2 year old DD would appreciate it :).

PS: What does your shirt say... "Beatnik", or sumpin' ??? Certain that SSB is wrong, but can't tell...

My t-shirt says "Be Alert for Foul Balls". It's a Chicago Cubs t-shirt :).

Here are 2 photos that I took of the plant:

The second are the little baby Titan Arums. The plant from last year was hand polinated. These are it's little seedlings :). The plant flowers at about 7-8 years of age.

BTW, the latin name for this plant is Amorphophallus titanum. I wonder why ;).

GREAT pictures... and funny about the name... could have tranlated that one without my stinkin' 6 years of studying Latin... LOL!

Good advice... was once hit in the neck by a Wade Boggs foul ball at Comiskey.... OUCH!!!!! :*(
