Help with board terminology please?

I've been on the boards for a while and I have come across 'Tag." I did a search on tags and I'm still a little unclear on what a tag is. It is the Welcomed Guest or Dis Veteran under a name, the phrases under a name, or both? Do you add it yourself? Thanks for your help and I'm sorry if this has been addressed before.

You can edit your tag by clicking on user cp and then edit profile.

If you're really good and truly believe in the tag fairies, some day, when you're not looking you may find a "tag" under your user name.

It helps if you click your heels three times while saying, "I believe in the tag fairies, I believe in the tag fairies."

A tag fairy is hard to describe. There are many of them floating around the different boards. They watch and they listen and then they pluck something from one of your posts and "tag" you.

I think mine keeps everybody wondering what I've been up to.....

You must believe with all your heart that the fairies exist. :cool:

cinmell, as olena said, you can change your tag yourself, but only the Tag Fairies can use colors. Batting big Bambi eyes sometimes helps to get their attention. ;)

And once you're blessed with a TF tag, if you want to change it in any way ask for TF assistance (or ask on the Tech Support board). If you try to change it yourself you'll lose the colors.:(

I just came back to check the boards and I was lucky enough to be tagged! Now I know what it is. Thank you Tag Fairy and Thanks to everyone for your responses to my question.
