Last night we were thinking on our drive back to Vegas we could stop at a beach and take the kids for a little walk.. Are there any nice beaches near Disney?

Huntington Beach and New Port come to mind.
From Disney, Huntington is about 19 miles away according to Google

Huntington beach is pretty close and a very nice beach. People watching would be Venice or Santa Monica.

If youre taking the kids out for some beach time my vote is for Huntington Beach. Not to far away and very nice.

My favorite is Laguna Beach. It's beautiful and they have a playground on the main beach.

If you don't want the crowds of Huntington you can also drive about 5-7 miles north (towards Long Beach) and there is a lovely quiet beach called Seal Beach not far up PCH (pacific coast hwy)

Your drive to Vegas will take you to the 5, 91, and 15 freeways (or Katella to the 57 north, 91 east, 15 north, none of which are near the beaches, so you'll be doing a bit of backtracking.
Probably the closest beaches to Disney would be Newport & Huntington. Either one would be good to visit, though my preference is Newport Beach (milder waves). Take the 5 south to the 55 west & that will take you right to Newport Beach.

Newport Beach!!!! If you head down the Newport peninsula, you'll find the fun zone, Ruby's restaurant on the pier, great beaches, and a ferry over to Balboa island (shops and restaurants on Marine Avenue.) There is a playground at the elementary school right on the beach with a beautiful view of the ocean near 13th street, and the Stuft Surfer is a tiny burger place with picnic tables on the sand at 15th Street. (Fry's market on 15th also sells little beach toys, etc.) I loved it as a child, and our boys love it now!
