I think the biggest pro is that it is one of the very few vacations that the entire family can enjoy together. Pregnant moms, babies, toddlers, kids, teens, adults, and grandparents can all go and see and do so much together. Most every other vacation spot focuses on one particular age group. I know a lady who doesn't enjoy Disney, they prefer high adventure white water rapids and hiking and stuff. She and her husband are in good health and they have two teen boys, you can't do a vacation like that with babies or grandmas or people with limited mobility, etc.
Con......too far away :(

Pro- it can appeal to all types of family members regardless of age, mobility, sex, etc. Great memory maker.
Cons- It is unlike a traditional vacation in that you really need to be engaged and plan in advance to get the most out of it. (It's not like going to the beach for a week and working on your tan and a book)

Planning--sort of hard to do spur of the moment like you can do at other theme parks.

We have made many spur of the moment trips.
October 2008. Thursday night, southwest ding to orlando for 49, Friday at noon, im in disney. But that falls into the cons because it gets very addicting. LOL

Pros: my son with severe food allergies can safely eat like a king! Although we've been numerous times, we still haven't even tried to do it all. There is something new and different every time, yet we also go back to our favorite attractions, rekindling our love of the whole Disney parks! The atmosphere is very family oriented, from babies to grandparents (we didn't find that at Universal on our one trip there).
Cons: leaving. Oh, and now that my kids are older, we are staying off site for the first time, as we got a Marriott Grande Vista 2br condo for a week (II getaway, $440 total) for about what we were going to pay per night in a one br condo at the BWV. So, we may be staying off site more now, as with the 4 of us, we'd like more space. Two rooms at Disney is pricey. I guess the price of the resorts can be a con, but still we love it.

Pro: When you visit WDW, your real life is on hold and the Disney experience envelops you and your family. Some people visit WDW. But for others, you become the experience.:wizard:
Con: Knowing there is a whole world to travel though and yet you still want to go back to THE world!

Con: You can be very unhappy if you don't know what you are doing (try to walk in to a sit down restaurant without reservations, for example).

Pros: EVERYTHING! What's there not to love
Cons: +1 on leaving. It's horrible and somewhat depressing. The withdrawls! Oh, and BAD planning. Dinner reservations are #1 example of bad planning if not made in advance.

Pros: Planning your trip is half the fun. (where to eat, when to go, what to do, what to take) Then the actual WDW experience. I LOVE IT!!! Would go every year if I could afford to.:cheer2:
Cons: Leaving :sad2: And my husband doesn't like going so on most trips he stays at home. So I do miss him (some).:rotfl:

Pro's: Everyone can enjoy the trip; each trip can involve something new; usually warm weather; expectations for good service, cleanliness and fun are met
Con's: Sometimes you see people at their worst when it is supposed to be such a happy place--tired children with comando parents

This is just my personal input ...
Pros: We stay on site now and use DDP or DxDP, so our trip is essentially prepaid. That, in combination to figuring out which park we should go on which day and which restaurant we should eat at, make the vacation virtually stress-free. We were able to savor living "in the moment," kwim? There's just something about being at the Happiest Place on Earth that makes you forget about the world back home. If you're stressed out, it's a much welcomed break.
Visiting World Showcase. Although dh is military, we haven't really seen the world (only Portugal, Italy, and France). The World Showcase is wonderful in that it can give you a sampling of other countries. Sure, they might be a bit watered-down, but they're still pretty neat.
Cons: Disney is addictive. And it is expensive. But if you make your ressies early, you can make payments towards your vacation until it's paid for, so it doesn't seem so bad.
Like I said, Disney is addictive. Every time we leave, I want to go back. Sadly, this might be our last trip, as we're set to head West and I don't like planes. Our Dec 09 trip was nice, but I spent so much time planning (we took my mil and her dh for their first time, and I was so concerned about her having a good time) that I wasn't able to enjoy the trip myself. My dh said that this upcoming trip is for me. It's my do-over trip. He is so laid back that he really doesn't care where we stay, so he told me to pick my dream. We're staying Poly CL this year. I sent them my ADR requests, and we'll see what happens. Those are pretty much the only plans we have. We'll hit the parks at rope drop, have our ADR lunch, and wing the afternoon/evening. I'm usually obsessive about planning our days, but I think I'm really going to enjoy this experience. It's half-and-half to me. I plan half the day and wing the rest. Life can't get much better! ;)
Sorry ... Didn't want to ramble. In a nutshell, Disney has many more pros than cons. I understand it's not for everyone. We've gone to Sea World and a couple of other attractions several years ago and enjoyed it immensely. A vacation is meant to be enjoyed, not stressed out over; otherwise, it's not a vacation. One year we hit the national parks in Utah. What an exceptional experience! Sure, it wasn't Disney, but we bonded and grew as a family. And we all were able to just relax and breathe and forget the stresses of everyday life. What can be better than that?

Pros: It's the best time you will ever have.
Cons: I can't think of any. You can find good deals to make it affordable.
