I was surprised to learn that my grown nieces had never seen the "Man in the Moon". Surprised because their mother and I used to sit outside (when we lived in Phoenix) and gaze upon a full moon for hours. Sometimes we would sing "I'm in love with the Man in the Moon" and we would just sit and watch the moon for hours. We always saw the "man in the moon". My son can see him and so can my dh. How about you? Using photographs isn't as good as the real thing, I don't think the man in the moon is as easy to see in a photograph:

Sure Kan!! It's great! I love star-gazing :) Yer right, the photos don't portrait it as well as laying on yer back on a mild summer night watching it! :)

I don't see it either. No matter how hard I look, I never see a man. I've always seen a bunny. It may sound weird, but that's what I see, a bunny. I think I almost saw the man once but the harder I look the more I can't see him. It's like those pictures that you're suppose to stare at and relax the eyes and see something in it...I can never see those either :(

Yes Katholyn, I do;)
We are having trouble explaining it to our 3 yo DD tho, but I think she will come around!
I must admit Kath, that I had never seen it, til you showed it to me a few weeks ago. I had heard people talk about it, but had no clue to what it meant. I saw two of the three faces you pointed out...It is way cool though. I showed my girls it!

Princess Aurora, apparently others see a bunny on the moon too. I found this:

Jules, if I'm ever in Houston during a full moon, I'm taking you moon watching. Does this photo and drawing help at all? I think it makes the man in the moon very unattractive but perhaps it will help you find the face. It's best to go looking for the man in the moon when the moon is full :)

Reminds me of the Torkelsons, when Dorthy-Jane would talk to him!

I know, Julie, I can see 3 different faces, one of them reminds me of the Gerber baby :)

<font color=navy>I can see him, and so can the rascals, but I've only noticed one face on a full moon, and one on the crescent moon.... we'll just have to study it more. :)

I've never seen him. No matter how hard I look, it just doesn't jump out at me! I need directions!

nativetxn, its good to know that others see a bunny. Every time I tell someone thats what I see they think I'm crazy! And I have a hard time seeing one man, I had no idea there were 3!!!

I see it. :)
Do you all find shapes in the clouds too? One time I saw a bear sort of reclining on his back with a popscicle in his hand. The popscicle was one of those two handled ones.
It was very detailed and even my dh saw it.

Grew up observing and talking about (sometimes talking to) the man in the moon. DD finally "saw" him about a year ago. We live in the country FAR from any lights - making our back patio a wonderful place to sit and watch the moon and stars.

Yup, as a kid, I always saw the rabbit!
In Japanese, the moon is called Chibi (I think).. meaning rabbit! :)

I can see it. As kids we use to sing a song about the man in the moon. If memory serves me correctly it went like this:
I see the moon and the moon sees me
over and under the apple tree.
There is probably more to the song, but that is all I can remember. My dad use to sing it to me when I was a little girl and we would sit outside at night.
