8x8 Autograph Book Pages

I’m attempting to make my first autograph book for DD. I have my heart set on a bound book from Shutterfly since I’ve ordered them in the past and love them.:lovestruc I also, have my heart set on a hard cover book (Yes, I know I’m being picky). :rolleyes1 The smallest size I can get with a hard cover is 8x8. So…I’m attempting to design my own 8x8 pages. :scared1::laughing:

I have a few questions before I spend anymore time on the book:

Is 8x8 too big? I figured multiple characters could sign on each page if they are from the same movie. For example, Jasmine, Aladdin and Genie could all sign an Aladdin page.

If multiple characters can sign on each page, how many blank pages should I add?

Will Shutterfly print something with Disney clip art on it?

Is there something obvious I am not thinking about? I hate to waste time or money. :confused3

I don't think 8x8 is too big...the hard cover one on disneystore.com says it measures 6.75 x 7.25. More than one autograph on a page is always an option, but our experience was the more room they had to write, the bigger the signature was. We took an autograph photo mat thing to Chef Mickeys and the five characters filled that thing up :lmao:

Several years ago I did a 8x8 creative memories autograph book for DD and DS first trip. It was not to big but as the above poster stated they filled each page with their signature, leaving very little room for any other. But it still looked good with just one signature per page you just may need to add more pages.:idea:

Depending on how long you are staying and what parks you are going to...plan to have at least 50 pages. No joke! You'd be surprised how many you see. And the characters with the "heads" can't see well so they won't sign on the same page. Buzz and Woody are a good example. They are almost always together but will sign separate pages.

LOVE the covers!!!! Just make sure that they are laminated or you have a ziplock bag "autograph book poncho" so that those gorgeous pics won't be ruined in a sudden rain.

We always have ziplock bags on hand at WDW. They come in handy to keep lots of things dry when those soaking rainstorms come without warning (cell phones, wallets, autograph books, and big one...cameras!!!)

Second, winkflash.com is having a "flat rate" sale right now...I have never used them but basically you pay a flat rate for the photobook and it doesn't matter how many pages you add...so you could have one for each character if you wanted...I think the price for a custom cover 8x8 is around $25....if you go through winkflash and have to have 50 pages you may be paying alot. If you want to do this you should move fast because I think the deal ends on Feb. 17th....Good luck and make sure to post pics!

Thank you. I am more than happy to share anything I have but I'm new to this and not sure how it works. I have a photobucket account. The files I uploaded should have a high enough resolution if you would like to download them. They are JPEGs though, do you need PNGs? I can also redo them in 4x6 or 5x7 pretty quickly. I'm hardly a graphic designer :rolleyes1 attempting to use Photoshop is a hobby of mine.

I'm going to check out winkflash. Thanks for the info. It sounds like a much better deal but I don't think at this rate I will be done by Feb 17th. :scared1: Who knows they may have the sale again this spring though. I've ordered both photobooks and calendars from shutterfly and I have always been very happy with their products. They run 20% off sales and free shipping on occassion. Hopefully, I can get a discount when I'm ready to order.

Another tip...Monster Inc characters do not sign. They have a stamp machine (looks like a time card machine). Make sure to leave enough room on the bottom (non-bound side) so the CM can slip it into the machine.

Here are my continued tips

Make 3 copies of that page for UP. They usually have all 3 of them out together.

Make 3 of Pinocchio too. Jimminy Cricket and Gepetto are often out with him.

Terrance also meets at Pixie Hollow so my vote would be for the pages that just say "Pixie Hollow"

And as I mentioned before, make duplicate pages for any characters that are in full costume (not their real faces showing). They can only do one signature per page.

okay but i must add that when we met baloo and king loiue we were told that king doesnt sign, only baloo, the boys liked that because we havent done any king louie page

and another thing maybe you should consider doing another page for incredibles, like you did for UP if youre aiming Mr and Mrs Incredible and also Frozone. My boys always enjoy Frozone ;)

now my interest is piqued, i was searching for something different, i have done the creating memories one once and already have the books that are available in the park from last year, how do you print the pages for an 8x8 album? sorry so dumb, i am so computer challenged.

Baloo signed for King Louie when we saw them last. I'm not sure if they are always together though.

Another good option is to print the autograph pages on cardstock (8.5 x 11) using your home computer and then trim the pages to make them 8x8. You can get the pages spiral bound at office depot or staples. Just make sure your prints are photo quality.

If you sign up for Artscow, you get TONS of free books, magnets, prints, etc. They don't tell you until you sign up but there's ton's....I cant' remember if there's an 8x8 book or not...there shipping is a little high, but not so bad when you consider the product was free.

I'm about to place an order for 100 prints and 3 photo books...did 7 x 5 ones for the current product though...haven't looked at 8x8

:scared1:Shutterfly books are really expensive. I'm concerned about the cost and currently looking at other options. But....I have gotten Shutterfly books before and they were beautiful.

Thanks for the info on the other website, I will sign up!I was concerned about the cost of shutterfly, and started a book on my own, printing pages and got an acrylic mickey 8x8 cover, I am going to put rings to hold it together and put ribbon on it, and seems like its adding up to be way more than shutterfly would have been, lolol. Are you using Internet Explorer? If so, at the toolbar at the top click on file, then page set-up. Where it says header or footer it should have something like this "&w&bPage &p of &P". Delete the text so that the header and footer field is blank.

Also, after you hit "print picture" and the print window opens. Click on printer preferences and make sure you are printing at the best quality possible (probably 600dpi or it may say something like "photo quality").

If that doesn't help, give me some more details.

Shutterfly's 8x8 covers are not actually 8x8 (makes sense, right? :rotfl:). According to their website, the hard covers are 8.35 x 9.7. So that's what size I made it but I didn't test it. If it doesn't fit, please let me know and I will make the adjustments. Also, you will need a back cover as well. I made a pink one but it's kinda boring. Do you have any better ideas?

LOVE your DISigns.. that are AMAZING! I was wondering... do you have them saved to a sharing site? Like Photobucket or 4shared??? When we click on the smaller versions of your 8x8's they pop up as very little thumbnail sizes and those won't work when saving and placing to an artscow book or any other type of book. If you do have them saved to a site.. do you mind sharing the web addy to it? Thanks!!!!

I tried uploading a few and creating a book. The sides of all the designs will be cut off so I would say that it would not work. They do offer a 5x7 soft cover book. I know there are a lot of 5x7 designs on this board.

I used Artscow to print my book. When you sign up, you get a free 20 page 8x8 hard cover book. Each page you add is fifty cents. My book was 60 pages so it cost $20 plus shipping. I thought it was a good value considering that the same book from shutterfly cost about $70. Shutterfly does run specials though.

Thanks for responding. I am actually heading to Disney tomorrow. I totally thought I would purchase autograph books until I found this thread, and saw how beautiful the books were.
