when you need to rent points, do you always find them??

I would need 8 points to do 3 nights at VWL after our cruise. Our stay would be 4th of July weekend, so I don't know if it would open up at the 7 month window. Should I go ahead and book 3 nights at BWV and hope to switch with rented points later, or go ahead and book 7/3 and 7/4 later this week and hope someone rents me 8 points SOON so I can book 7/5??

Are you looking to have those 8 points transfered into your account? If so, you may have a problem. Or are you looking for the owner to make a reservation for you?

I'd be looking to have them transferred--I would have 67 points left and need 8--why is that a problem? I suppose I could transfer the 67 to someone else but that seems silly. Forgive me if this sounds ignorant but I've never done this.

Robin, I ended up needing 9 points for our upcoming January trip and I found them from someone on the Rent/Trade board. The only problem is a member can only transfer points once.

If you're lucky, and if you haven't transferred points to anyoone else, you could find someone here that has the points and you can transfer your points to them to make the ressie.

Is that once EVER or once a year? I have never transferred points--I tried to transfer 10 extra 2002 points but I had banked them so I couldn't and they'll just die in Feb.
I have EMails out to several people on the rent board about VWL points, but right now I think I'll have to go ahead and make the BWV ressie--unless I settle for a 1BR, which is a whole other debate!!:rolleyes:

What you may have a lot more luck with is renting the total you need for one night from someone and have them make the whole reservation. Then you can save your own points. It may be tough to find someone willing to transfer only 8 points.
