I got a new breadmaker (Kenwood 250 - excellent!) and at the weekend, once I'd made a quick load (58 mins and tasted amazing) I decided to try cake. I've never done cake before as all the recipes I had started "remove paddle and line with baking paper" (in other words, make a cake as usual and bake in the breadmaker - and the point of that is:confused3). But the booklet came with a recipe for marmalade cake, where the machine does the mixing after a little initial melting of butter etc. on the stove. well, this cake was brilliant! (It would have been even better if I hadn't shaken the pan so hard to get it out:rolleyes1:rotfl2:).

Does anyone have any tried and tested recipes for cake in a breadmaker? TIA

Although I have not made them, my bread machine book has 3 recipes for cakes and they all use cake mixes with ingredients to add.
Lemon Poppy Seed Cake
Chocolate Cake
Black Forest Cake

Sounds interesting! what size cake mix? (we get some Betty Crocker but most of ours are smaller/diffferent ingredients).

was it along the lines of , add ingredients like bread (liquid, egggs, flour order)? Then add extras?

I have the Black & Decker All in One. They tell you to add the ingredients in this order:

Lemon Poppy Seed Cake
1c Milk
2 lg eggs
2 T butter
1 t almond extract
2 T poppy seeds
18.25 oz package Lemon Cake mix

Then just press the "cake" setting.

That sounds yummy! Maybe I need to add a lemon cake mix to my next grocery order (except I suppose it would not be good for cholesterol :headache:)
