DH and I just booked this cruise. We are very excited (even though it is a ways out still:goodvibes). I haven't sailed DCL since '99, so I'm excited to see the new ship and how the cruise line has evolved and to be able to do all the adults-only activities this time. We wish it was longer (or B2B), but we're planning to couple it with some time at the parks, so it will be fine. We're also doing a balcony cabin for the first time ever:thumbsup2

I read on the Cruise Line Forum an interesting idea, and I'm going to ask it. We really want to go to Atlantis, and through the Comfort Suites, it costs around $250. the idea was that someone, (most preferably 2 people) book the same suite as us (My dad and I (14), and we each pay half the price. So each half pays around $125. I thought it was a neat idea. We don't even half to enter the suite, we can just go straight to Atlantis.
If anyone is up for this, comment. (I have to figure out how the paying halves would work out).

Welcome to the new comers to the thread! Now that we've made it through Christmas, it's time to start getting revved up for our cruise!
So, at some point soon I will go through and post a list of everyone who is cruising with us. As people join our thread, I'll update the list. Feel free to let us know what deck you are on - or even a cabin number if you are comfortable sharing that info.
I have never participated in a FE - but if someone wants to coordinate that, I'm sure our fellow cruisers would have fun with it.
Also, I'm curious if anyone is interested in doing a DisMeet. I've never coordinated one before, but would be willing to try if that's what you want.
I hope everyone enjoyed the holidays and I look forward to getting to know everyone as we prepare for our Dream cruise.

Late in joining this thread, but we are doing 9/4 and 9/8 b2b also. Well, let me say we have it booked and are definitely doing the 9/4 and probably the 9/8. This will be the first b2b for us. We have had the 9/4 booked for a while, and just recently booked the 9/8 as we were able to keep the same cabin.
Talk about a good deal, my good friend is sailing in the same cabin during spring break and paying $600 more than we are for the 9/4.

I am looking forward to the fact that it is new, a different cabin interior, some new dining options, The Aquaduck, a refrigerator in the cabin, and I guess I could go on and on. The more I read about the Dream, the more stuff I find out that I didn't expect, like not having to put your card in the door to open it, and having to leave a key in the slot to have your lights, etc. stay on. (we experienced this in China, and it is a great idea).

For us, it will be our 3rd Disney Cruise, yet our first Dream...AND...we are doing this one WITHOUT THE KIDS!!! Shhh...we haven't told them yet...OOPS :) We are looking forward to enjoying the adult atmosphere of the boat. I have yet to step foot in the adult pool! :) So, we are excited about everything! I need to look up some of the new features to really get an idea of what to expect! :) Happy cruising!

This ought to be interesting. I think it's a great idea to save on power...and very well might be a good reminder to not leave the room without a key card. DH and I did this once on our last cruise. The girl at the service desk got quite a chuckle when we sheepishly explained that we had locked ourselves out of our room.

Hi everyone! Other family reporting in!! Me, DW and DD who will be 9 (she would say 9 1/2) :lmao: when we sail. We are doing B2B (9/8-9/11):woohoo: and this one will be our first leg. These will make our 3rd & 4th Disney cruises so far and, of course, our first one on the Dream.
Will be staying at Disney's Port Orleans Riverside for 10 days after our cruise, we stayed at POR for the first time in August/Sept 2010 and loved it, Actually, It's become our new favorite!! Although we are US citizens we will be traveling from Madrid, Spain (been living here for many years)
Please count on us if you guys decide to do a Fish Extender Exchange, we have always done it on our previous cruises and it is always one of the highlights of our trip.
My family and I are all very excited and we look forward to getting to know you all!!!
Is it September yet? :)

Thank you guys for the warm welcome, we re going to have a BLAST!! Mickeymedic, one of the things I love the most about the POR is to walk by the river from POR to POFQ, I usually go running on that same sidewalk early in the morning, this year actually we have booked a river view room :woohoo:

I love walking the paths throughout POR. The landscaping is gorgeous. And, even when the resort is full it never feels crowded. The path between POR and FQ is nice - but I've only walked it a few times. DH and I love the boat ride to DTD.

Yes! The Treehouse Villas. I was soooo sad when the treehouses were sitting there empty. Then they converted them to CM housing and I thought - for sure - we'd never ever get to stay in one. So I was incredibly excited when I found out they were converting them to DVC. Unfortunately they are soooo expensive to rent per night that it is still unlikely I will ever get to stay in one. But, at least now it is possible.

We are doing B2B, with the first leg of the cruise starting 9/4 and the second is the 9/8 sailing. I think I mentioned that before.
Should I tell you that we are spending the two nights prior to the 9/4 cruise at the Treehouse Villas? We have not stayed there before, but we wanted to check them out and this was a good chance for us to do so.
So, this will be a trip of several firsts for us:
First time at the TreeHouse Villas
First time on the Dream
First time to do B2B cruises

Hello everyone,
I just got off the Dream with my DD celebrating my birthday. We booked the Fantasy for her birthday 4/14/12 Western Caribbean and for December 1 this year for her and her DH to take his parents. We did this without telling him before we left. We had not planned to but the deals were too good to turn down. We were afraid that he would get upset since the cruise we took 5 years ago, we came back DVC members. I told her that he will never let us go on vacation without him again. It turned out he thought the trips were a great idea.
On the way home, I realized that my daughter will make gold before me because she has one trip more. They honeymooned on the Magic. I booked the 9/8 trip, called my best friend and told her that we were taking a short cruise. She has never cruised. I also told her that we would spend a day or two at Epcot before coming home. She has never been to WDW. I am hoping that I can convert her so that I can get a travel partner. It has been costing me a fortune to cruise by myself.
Looking forward to meeting and getting to know all of you.

Wow, your friends' first time to WDW and first time to cruise. She is going to be on :cloud9: And how exciting for you to see both of these events thru her eyes.
And yes, we would love to hear anything you have to share about the Dream, good or bad. There has been a lot negative said and then some Dream cruisers who thought everything was just perfect. :confused3
What cabin category did you have? For you to book more sailings on the Dream, you must have found things to your liking.

Roadweaver, tell us about the Dream! I'm sure we are all are dying to hear the details. What did you think of the Quiet Cove pool? The Aquaduck? The restaurants?
I do not know where to start. My daughter and I must have said WOW so much you would think that we did not know anything else. The atrium is so elegant and large.
The Quiet Cove pool is small. It is more a place to wade up to the bar or hang your feet in the water and meet people. You can not swim. There was a band playing there a few times we stopped by. We did not find the Quiet Cove very quiet so we did not hang around when there was a lot of people and the band. It was a very pretty area with lots of comfortable sitting. Quiet Cove pool is next to the Quiet Cove cafe. What we liked was deck 12 which is just above the Quiet Cove area. It was quiet and was a perfect place to lounge and sun bath if you liked.
The Quiet Cove cafe is not really smaller as I have been reading, what has happened is that they took out the computers and so that area is not there. Still cozy.
I did not get on the Aquaduck. Mainly, because everyone that got off said that it was cold. It takes very little to make me sick so I did not want to ruin my trip. I heard that everyone loved it that got on.
Restaurants-oh my.....Royal Palace, do you want to be a princess or prince, then this is the place for you. Princesses walk through, it is so beautiful, the waiters dressed like royal attendants. It is so pretty.
Enchanted Garden---it felt like we were in a conservatory with the petal lights and the ceiling. The only thing I wish is that the lights that were on the side were dimmed. They were so bright that I could not tell that the time of day had changed. Hope that they fix that. Otherwise just amazing.
We had Animated Palatte twice, the first time was on Pirate Night so we did not get the show. The second night was so much fun, it feels like you or in the animators studio. The lights dim so that it makes you feel that you are underwater and everything turned bluer. The interaction with the characters on the screen was hilarious. This was the best food.
Palos was fantastic as ever. We went to brunch. What I liked is that now the buffet is in the back out of the way in its own little room. More of the sitting is facing the water. I think it was more elegant looking. I will try to post a few pictures so you can see
I have been referring everyone to this thread because his report is right on the money.

Looks like our verandah room is on deck 6 by the elevator to Cabana's.
We had no noise at all on deck 8 by the elevator so this should be the same.
Booked the other cruises we plan while on board but this one I booked when we got home thru Dreams Unlimited. Did not get the 10% room discount but did get the $100 obc.
Looking forward to this break.

Driving up from SW Florida the day before but haven't decided where we're staying yet. The Raddison is soooo convenient and close but we're also thinking of the Hard Rock in Tampa or on property (Poly would be a nice start to the trip!)

I was wondering if someone could tell me the benefit of a b2b rather than taking a 7day. Is it cheaper somehow? or what?

Well, I think right now, everyone wants to experience the Dream, and since the Dream only does 3 and 4 night, then the only way to get in a longer cruise is to do a b2b. Also, for me, I really want some time on the ship when it is not extremely crowded to take pictures and do some things without lines, like riding the Aquaduck when it first opens, soaking up some sun around an uncrowded pool and watching the hustle and bustle on shore while we relax.

This was our thought, too. We did a 7-night for our 5 year anniversary and wanted to do a 7-night on the Dream for our 10 year anniversary. Since the Dream is only doing 3/4 night, our only way to sail on the Dream for 7 nights is by doing B2B. I'm also looking forward to checking out some of the clubs and night time entertainment that we have skipped in the past due to not wanting to miss the main shows. And, like RweTHEREyet, we are looking forward to being on the ship when it is nearly empty on our port day.

Thank you for getting back to me about b2b cruising. My daughter and I plan on taking a cruise in December, we booked a four day while on board the Dream for my birthday. We were wondering if I should book a 3 day while I was on board in September.
I never thought of what you have said. I will talk to my daughter about this.

Thanks for the welcome - looking forward to meeting fellow DisBoarders!
We're also in a 5D on deck 6 (6036) - sounds like a few of us there :thumbsup2
Add us to the FE list too please if someone's keeping track :fish:
Our 1st on the Dream so I think we'll skip Palo - wish they did a brunch on the 3 day :confused3
Building 14 at POR is our favorite - so convenient and has a "back way" to the bus stop :goodvibes

We really enjoy staying in the mansions at POR. Magnolia Terrace is our favorite.
OK - regarding FE exchange...I have never done one before. So, I need a little help from those of you who have FE experience. It looks like a bunch of cruisers are interested in doing a FE. So I say lets do it! Who's in? And who's going to help me...or at least tell me what needs to be done to coordinate it? Thanks!

Hi! We haven't made a final decision yet on the FE (although we're leaning in that direction). However, I'm the unofficial "fish in charge" for our Alaska cruise in June. I will be happy to help you in any way I can.
What I have been doing is adding the FE list to my OP (you could probably use the list you have already going, just by adding "FE" to each person participating.
Because some people are reticent about publicly posting their stateroom or e-mail addresses, I've had them send me PM's with this info, and I'm keeping an Excel spreadsheet for the Alaska cruisers, which I will e-mail to them around the deadline date for participation. That date is totally up to everyone participating on this cruise, I believe. Note that the spreadsheet isn't required, but I found it very helpful in organizing two previous FE's.
In the end, since it's a volunteer position, I'd recommend to do what works best for you. If you want the spreadsheet template that I'm using for our June sailing, please let me know.
Thanks,
Drew

Another thought is to go ahead and book your December cruise now. Sometimes when you book far enough in advance, it is cheaper than booking on board with the credits for a cruise that is that close in time. I am not up on the cancellation timeframe enought to figure out if you could cancel a December cruise in September, if it did in fact turn out to be cheaper to do it then?

I am a potential FE participant. The last one I was in had so many people it was overwhelming to me in the planning and in the delivery. I imagine with the Dream being so huge, the time involved to deliver to everyone is something to think about.
I had not posted before, but our cabin is a 5C, and I think we are on Deck 7, right above the lifeboats.

I am interested in an FE exchange. I have only done one. I wanted to do it because I had looked at the great things that was made in previous ones. My daughter I did receive some handmade picture frames, bookmarks, cd's, crocheted Wave phone holders and a few other great things from 3 of the FE exchangers but everyone else just filled our FE with penny candy. Since I am a diabetic, I could not eat any of it. If it is decided that we are going to do the FE exchange, would I be able to indicate that Susan and I are diabetics and neither of us have grandchildren?

I don't see why not. This will be my first FE. But since it looks like we will be a pretty small group, I don't see the harm in adding some special notes.

We would love to take part in the fish extender ... our children would love it!!! But Im not 100% sure how it works???? Do we buy something for everyone that participates in the FE list??? Do we keep it small and relevant to our home town of Liverpool, UK??? What special notations are u talking about ??? give me an idea what i would need to tell u???
As u can tell we have never cruised before and we are sooooooooo excited to be going onboard the Dream in September!!!! Oh do we leave the fish extender thing on the door handle outside our room all the time that we are cruising or just at a certain time during the cruise??? Do we all deliver our goodies at the same time????

Hi Trish!
This is my first FE, too. For starters, go to the DCL FAQ thread that is a "sticky" at the top of the Cruise Board. There are a few threads linked through there describing the basics of FE.
From what I can tell (and everyone - please feel free to add or correct my info) you can either do a small goody bag per cabin, or you can do something small for each cruiser. When I send out the final FE list, you will be able to see how many cruisers are in each room.
You will hang your Fish Extender on your Fish outside your room the first day of the cruise and leave it there for the duration of the cruise. At a time of your choosing, you will distribute your FE gifts to your fellow cruisers. There is no set day or time. So, you will also receive gifts from your fellow cruisers throughout the cruise. Someone somewhere on here described it as kind of like a secret santa for disers.
The gift you give can be anything you want. There are lots of threads where people share pictures of what they gave and/or what they got. Some people put a lot of time and effort into their gifts. But please don't feel like you have to go completely overboard. We do this as a simple fun exchange. We don't want to leave anyone out just because some of us are less artistically talented or creative than others.
As far as special notes - someone asked me to note that she and her friend are both Diabetics. I plan to note that I am severly allergic to Latex (rubber bands, balloons, etc can cause problems.) Others have shared with me their child's favorite character. Again - there are no hard and fast rules.
I hope you will join us in our FE!

Thought I'd reintroduce myself as only posted quickly before.
I'm Kerry, I'm twenty and this will be my ninth cruise and first time on the Dream. We are spending 5 days before our cruise in WDW, and then we're heading back after. We're travelling in a group of 6 to WDW (Me, mum, dad, best friend, sister, sister's boyfriend) but just me and my friend are coming on the ship. She has never been on a cruise before so we're really excited.
We're on Deck 6 midship (category 5D) with early seating and the 9pm show. So excited! Wish it would just hurry up now!

Looks like there will be several first on this cruise. This will be my friend's first cruise as well, and first time going to WDW. We are going to the park after the cruise. Since her husband does not like to travel, I am hoping that I can get her hooked on Disney and when ever I need a cruise fix, she will want to come. Just cost to much to travel solo.

I was wondering if anyone has an idea of how we can recognize each other.
On the cruise I just took on the Dream, we were to wear these green rubber wrist bands that we brought from one of the Disboard members. One problem, unless you were right up on the person, you could not be seen in the crowd. We were suppose to meet at the Donald pool at 3pm to say hello. After we got back, almost everyone on the Disboard meet forum for our cruise said that they were there but could not find anyone. This was a half filled ship, I would hate to see the crowd if the ship was full.
I did notice that someone had on a green lanyard that had "Disboard" on it. I did not see anyone else with it and wondered if it was from a different cruise.

I am starting to consider the possibility of renting a cabana at Serenity Bay on Castaway Cay. But the $400 price tag is a little (OK -a lot) out of our budget. So, I was thinking it wouldn't be so bad if we shared the cabana and split the cost with 2-4 other adults. I know we can't even try to reserve one until we board - so there is no guarantee that we would even get a cabana. But, is there anyone else who might be interested in sharing a cabana?

Ooooh. Choices. I think we're still leaning towards the cabana...actually I should say that "I" am still leaning towards the cabana. DH still thinks it is ridiculous to spend several hundred dollars for a hut. However, I'm thinking I can probably sway him if we are splitting the cost with others. Also, since I have to limit my exposure to the sun, it would be a great way for us to get to actually spend the whole day at Castaway Cay instead of retreating back to the ship after a couple of hours.

Also snacks are included and will be refilled if you need them.

Hi everyone! My youngest daughter (age 6) and I will be joining you on this cruise! This will be my 7th Disney cruise, but 1st on the Dream! Super excited to check out the Dream! All of our previous cruises were 7 nights, except one 4 night...and I swore I'd never book less than a 7 night again. It just seems like once you get settled in, you are getting right back off the ship. Anyways, here I am booking a 3 nighter. LOL! I just HAVE to check out the Dream...and can't stand waiting until 2012 to sail the Fantasy 7 night itineraries! We will all sail as a family again in 2012 on the Fantasy. I will probably book that trip while onboard the Dream in Sept! My older two children (son- 16 and daughter 13) didn't really care about taking this short cruise, so it's just the little one and I! Although a seasoned DisCruiser, this will be our first stateroom with a balcony! Woo hoo!
We would love to join in on the FE's! Haven't gotten a chance to participate in them yet. Our last cruise was 02/2009 and hadn't even heard of them at that point. This will be fun! Mickeymedic- I will send you a PM!

Welcome aboard! :cheer2:

I'm not too sure if I will join the FE or not. On our last cruise, it was so overwhelming! We had 34 staterooms to exchange with! I guess I had originally thought that would be broken down into smaller groups, but everyone seemed to like the big group.
Here is the little tutorial I had put together for our last cruise:http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=28549569&postcount=61
Just an FYI - were sailing over Halloween - which is why it is all in Orange/Black (not normally my favorite colors)

Thanks so much for the tutorial. We have a bunch of first-timers...at least for the FE part of our adventure. So far we have only 4 staterooms participating in the FE. I hope we get a few more, but I'm kind of hoping it doesn't get too big.

I really enjoyed looking at everyone's creativity! I've had my eyes on a few different FE designers on Etsy. I just can't decide exactly what I want to put on it yet! lol. If anyone is interested in links to some FE designers, just let me know! : )

Hello everyone!
I don't know about you, but I am in desparate need of a vacation right now. I am happy to be Dreaming of our upcoming trip :lovestruc ...I just wish it wasn't so far away.
So, to help pass the time between now and September...and to help get everyone psyched for our trip, please post your favorite DCL photo. I'd get the ball started on this, but I am at work. When I get home tomorrow night I will post a pic.
Who else wants to share a favorite DCL memory?

Fun idea! But....omg.....I have thousands of favorite DCL memories! lol! Here's one: On our Feb. '09 Western Carribean cruise aboard the Magic, my youngest daughter was chosen at the Tea Party with Alice and Mad Hatter, to be a part of the show! As Alice skipped into the room, she grabbed my daughter (who was 3 1/2 at the time) by the hand and led her up to the head table! She still talks about this special moment! Alice taught her how to drink tea "properly" and the Mad Hatter was silly as ever! Only 2 girls were chosen to participate, and my daughter was one of them. She felt sooo special!

Thanks for sharing! And for those of you that are getting ready to embark on your first DCL adventure, feel free to share your favorite Disney magical experiences pictures and stories. Anything to get us all in the Disney state of mind.
I'm going to have to describe my favorite picture for now - DH is at work and I have no idea how to work the scanner...but its a cute story. So, you're just going to have to use your imagination for now:
My favorite character is the Main Cheese himself: Mickey! I absolutely love the Socerer Mickey costume. At this particular meet & greet/photo op, I had walked up to Sorcerer Mickey ahead of DH. He reached out and shook my hand as I approached him and made some jestures to indicate that he was happy to see me. Then DH joined us, we posed the usual pose and off we went. The next day we were checking out our pictures in Shutters and much to our delight the photographer had snapped a couple of candids as I was interacting with Mickey. The pictures were great! I fell in love with the picture of me shaking Mickey's hand and immediately told DH that we had to add that photo to our "keepers." Well, it turns out the DH loved the picture, too - but for a different reason. He thought it was hysterical. Why? Because due to the height difference between Mickey and me, it looks like Mickey is staring right at my chest! :rotfl: I can't look at that picture anymore with a straight face...but it's still one of my favorites.

It is really hard for me to choose favorites as Disney has practically been our sole vacation destination(s) for my whole married life (17 years). My kids growth is measured in tallness compared to goofy!
BUT:
When youngest was born he was extemely ill. Preemie. He didn't outgrow the sick stuff. Rashes, viruses, hospitalizations, difficulty breathing, pneumonia... They sent us to a number of specialists for each set of symptoms (gastro for the constant vomiting, pulmonology for the severe asthma, immunology for the constant inability to fight disease......
He has a genetic disorder that causes immune system issues......Anyway, when he was 5 we had not vacationed since .......a LONG time. WE took the kidlets to Disneyland! Stayed in Dland hotel......It was October and my little guy couldn't be on feet for long, so we had him in wheelchair.....Dad was off with the older sibs, when it began to rain on us......We ducked into Great Moments w/Mr. Lincoln and ran smack dab into: Eight or nine characters (the fab 5 and stitch, pooh, and snow white) all trying to stayo out of the rain!!! We were the only guests in the room!!!! They spent about 1/2 an hour playing , talking and posing with my guy. Pluto even played "fetch" for him (several minutes, thanks pluto)! Our soggy sick park day turned into a really Magical Memory! Nick is 13 and extremely healthy now, and he still lists Pluto as his favorite; and cannot be convinced by any "disney scrooge" that those weren't characters that are alive well and living in the Happiest Place on Earth!pluto:

Our cruise in 10/2010 was our 5th cruise, but it was the first time we made it to the character breakfast - we both loved it!! :thumbsup2
For the newbies, the character breakfast on this ship is very very different than the ones in the park - you have limited breakfast selection (similar to what they offer the last day of the cruise), you keep your camera ready on your table, and the cast members fly in, snap a picture of the character and your family, and fly out! No time for chit chat - but we really enjoyed it!
Oh, in case it wasn't obvious, the wait staff make everyone some sort of "head gear" from napkins!! :rotfl2:

DH will be soooo excited. He's is really into all things NASA past and present. In fact, I sometimes refer to him as a space cadet. :rotfl: If by some miracle the launch does not get delayed, he will be really excited to watch the launch.

My oldest boy (15) was at gymnastics practice yesterday, as he has a meet this weekend he was taking a private practice with the coach to work on his handsprings. 30 really good ones, #31 went WRONG!!!!! We spent the afternoon at ER. He dislocated and fractured the middle finger of his right hand damaging tendons/ligaments in the process. We see the ortho. surgeon on Tuesday........He will miss the meet this weekend. I know it's "just" a finger, but he is in a lot of pain.......:-(
:sad2::sad2::sad2:
I talked "when we get on the dream" the whole time they were reducing it, to take his mind off.....Didn't really work, but helped a bit. Poor guy. I'd post the photo, but frankly it makes me feel ill.

Any other adults interested in going in on a cabana at Serenity Bay? Roadweaver and her friend will be joining DH and I. We have room for 2 more. Obviously this is contingent on a cabana being available when we board. Unfortunately I'm not a concierge guest, so I can't prebook.
If there are 6 of us, the cost will be $65 per person. Send me a PM if you are interested.

We are considering trying to get a Cabana at the family beach instead of Serenity Bay. Roadweaver has seen both - and said that the Cabanas at the family beach are bigger and have a private section of beach. The cost will be $83.33 per person since the family beach Cabanas are $500. Let me know if you are interested.

Hi everyone
I hope u are all ok and looking forward to our cruise!!!
A few questions for everyone that has cruised with Disney before ...... tickets .... do we receive our tickets in the post before we go or is it a totally online thing now that we fill in and print off???? We are wondering as we fly out 2 weeks before we actually get on the Dream so if we receive our paperwork through the post then we may already be in the states before it arrives.... i hope this is not the case but i really need to find out.
Fish Extender .... is there a kind of cut off date that we have so i know how many gifts to buy ??? How many people do we have in our fish extender at the moment??? Do we usually get alot more people adding on at the end??
What is the Castaway Cay 5k??? My hubby and I both run a few times a week but didnt know about a 5k on Castaway Cay ... i dont know if i will be fit to do anything but lounge when we get to CC as we will have been at Coronado Springs for two weeks prior!! So will be so tired with all the parks!!! :rotfl::rotfl:
We are starting to make some tentative plans about our whole Florida holiday now so its starting to become more real which means we can get a little more excited :banana: By the time we board the plane at Manchester we will be in an absolute frenzy!!! :rotfl::rotfl:

The cutoff for the FE will be the paid-in-full date (90 days I think). We currently have 8 cabins participating. I will be emailing the current list of participants to everyone within the next week or so - I've been kind of swamped at work...so I will hopefully get to it soon. If there are any FE participants who have not PM'd me your email address, please do so soon.
The Castaway Cay 5K is an informal run the morning we arrive at Castaway Cay. The start time and gathering point will be in the daily Navigator. I've been reading differing reports. It seems that on the longer cruises, they actually give out certificates and water bottles to participants. They don't seem to be doing that as consistently on the shorter cruises. So, no promises on the goodies, but I think the run itself will be reward enough for those who enjoy a good run.

One question-- Do we have any platinum or concierge members who have been able to make reservations yet? If so what does the availably look like for Remy?
Hi Sarah! and Welcome aboard, it is so good to have you sailing with us! I will be sailing with DW and DD(9) we will be doing B2B being this our first leg, 3rd and 4th Disney cruises for us. I am so looking forward to surprising my wife with an adult only dinner at Remy, so I definitely hope there will be availability.
I look forward to meeting you aboard beautiful Disney Dream.

Hi Thanks for letting me know about the FE details, we paid in full a while ago so i didnt know about the 90 day cut off date .... Im looking forward to shopping for some goodies for the FE`s!!
Just spoke to my hubby about the CC 5k and he thinks he may do it but it will depend on the day, I would also like to have a go but one of us will have to keep an eye on the kids and I probably wont be able to wait to get to the beach!!! We cant wait to go to Castaway Cay !!!
See u soon xxxx

Just joined this discussion group, so I have not yet looked at all the valuable inputs in these threads;
We (40&40) traveling with our boys (6 and 11) are thinking for taking private tours romeinlimo.com from the following ports:
Naples, Italy
Civitavecchia, Italy
La Spezia, Italy
Anyone interested in sharing the van with us? Did some research and looks like price for 1-4 is 450-500 Euro and for group of 8 is approx 600 Euro. This is our first cruise vacation..
Thx.

Wow! I'm impressed that there are a few of us that actually think the CC 5K sounds like fun. I'm looking forward to it so much more now. Who needs a cruise meet when you can do a 5K instead? OK. Just kidding. I will still be trying to organize a brief, informal cruise meet on the first day for anyone who wants to try to put faces with names.
Hope everyone is having a great week. I know I've been busier than busy. Talk to y'all soon!

Hi everyone, it's been a LONG time since I've posted but I am getting super excited about this cruise!! I posted way back when that me (Marie Gordon) and my friend (Paula Ridge) will be sailing with no kiddies or husbands....girls weekend out :)
We are on deck 7, "dreaded" cabin #7680.
I do have a misc question...I know The Flying Dutchman is no longer at Castaway Cay, does anyone know if another ship from Pirates of the Caribbean will replace it?
Hope to meet a few of you all soon!!

Hi there! Your trip sounds exciting, however, this thread is for people cruising on the Dream on Sept. 8th. That would be the Bahamas 3-night cruise. You are more than welcome to chat with us, but I'm not sure how much input you'll get about the Med cruise and the private tours you were inquiring about. Have a great time on your trip!!:cool1:

Well, I'm not platinum or concierge, but this is the second half of our b2b and I was able to book for the first half on Sunday - they had many Remy choices available for that cruise.
I also would like to point out that while booking an excursion for Castaway Cay, the waverunner one still says that you, "Ride past the Flying Dutchman. . . " - I was a bit surprised that hadn't been updated yet . . .

:tinker:So my older son takes off, Friday, for the Regional Competition for Trampoline & Tumbling. His prior scores have already qualified him for the National Competition in San Antonio in July for one of the three events (trampoline). He hopes to hit the qualifying score for the double mini event this weekend.
Despite the fact that he is 15 years old (nearly 16 by the time of sailing), he has only travelled alone once in his life. I've never missed a meet.......Finances dictate that he go without me this week........sigh.....He will be with his coach.
Wish him luck.
My younger son has reached the end of the season for Artistic gymnastics (he competed at Regionals). His coaches voted him Gymnast of the Year! I am really proud of him....:cheer2:
Now my question: I want to do the FE, but how easy/difficult will it be if we are in a concierge stateroom???

Congrats to your son and good luck for his upcoming event! We just (last night) had the High School Musical Tony Awards for our area and our oldest was presented with the runner-up for Lead Actor in a Musical for Guido Contini in "Nine"! School is winding down but he still has this weekend's performances in "Bug" where's he's the lead as well :-) After that, it's off to start touring colleges for him.
FE is fun for everyone. Your door is accessible (at least it is on the Magic & Wonder) so we can leave our booty for your crew :thumbsup2

Congratulations to your son! :thumbsup2 Looks like he is having a very successful career and I wish him the best and hope he'll become an excellent athlete. My DD Madison is having a very successful year so far, she is only 9 but has won several medals and her Rhythmic Gymnastics team has won the gold medal of the regional (Madrid province) Championship :cheer2:. She has two more competitions in June and if everything goes well she will be training with our national team next season :woohoo:, although she is only 9, she is determined to keep training as hard as she can in order to reach her goal of joining the Olympic team. Needless to say we are all very proud of her and actually she is the one who deserves our cruise and WDW vacation the most.I Look forward to meeting some of you on our upcoming cruise :grouphug:.

DD and I are making cute magnets for trip....
Also, have matching tees for each day....
Our 1st is bought @ Target, sports Donald on front and reads "I'm on a boat!" DS and I thought was cute.....
2nd I made @ home using one of the DISigns.....2011 sign w/characters swimming inside numbers....
3rd reads, "Disney Cruise Club" and has Mickey inside red lifesaver ring.
4th is Nemo characters looking shocked and reads, "What do you MEAN we have to go home!"
We have often done homemade "vacay shirts" so kids think it's a tradition...but we didn't on our previous cruise on Magic. One DS said it wasn't right so this time.....
Well, we'll be easy to spot!

I have been working on our FE. I am making it myself. I made some fun tee shirts too. I did NOT make magnets, because I read that the concierge doors are not metal....?
I just finished posting over at DISabilities, but I think I'll mention briefly here: This trip is due to the kindness of others. We can NOT afford a cruise vacation (or any vacation) right now. Our past year has involved having to sell my hubby's small business to a larger co., the IRS taking over our lives for 4 months, my kids dropping all extracurricular activities, etc.
My autistic daughter is so looking forward to this trip. I am doing all I can to make it as magical as I possibly can. Her favorite character is Tinkerbell, but she loves the princesses too. She is deathly afraid of sharks (even Bruce in Finding Nemo scared her), and says she won't swim in the ocean. She is a great swimmer but is scared. I am so happy that others have helped us so much this past year. As hard as it has been I feel like we've had a fairly godmother looking out for us through it all.
Can't wait to see the looks on my teens faces when we get to port canaveral!!!!!:lovestruc

For our Alaska cruise next week, we made the cutoff at the 60 day mark. That seemed to allow everyone enough time to buy and/or make the gifts. Of course, we had a couple of "last minute stragglers"...it happens quite frequently...so, since everyone was flexible, we added them on to the list. Each cruise gang seems to do things a little differently.

I feel like I am missing something because there is nothing for me to go on-line and book. Don't want to do Palo dinner, and there isn't a brunch on the 3-day, correct?
Anyways, glad to be back on the thread and glad that this all worked out and now it is time to get excited.

Edited to add that I finally got it to work. Now I realize I made a mistake on my 9/4 check-in, and it won't let me pull up that reservation to make a change on the check-in form. Not sure it is that big of a deal, but I said we would be heading to a hotel, when in fact we are staying on the ship at the end of the cruise.
