Day Three of the Much Needed February Trip – The “Quest for Goofy Manhole Cover” Pin Continues

The Cast:

Carol, fellow Disney nut, sometimes needs a wheelchair
Michael, 13 – Carol’s nephew
Me, tour guide, addicted to Disney
Grant, 14, my son, and Disney pal

Since we decided to flip-flop our itinerary between the Studios and Epcot, this was our day for the Studios.

The hat was awesome! We again sent the boys with tickets to get fast passes to RNR for all of us. Carol and I headed back to the hat. The boys “accidentally” made a wrong turn and ended up at the hat prior to getting the fast passes. Very excitedly they informed us that there were exactly 5 Goofy Manhole Covers left. We bought all 5.

Well, if you remember from our first day, we impulsively bought our magic moments pins at the Emporium on Main St. We decided to buy a couple of more magic moments pins for family back home, so we could utilize our web coupon for the special internet pin. The CM who checked us out sprinkled pixie dust on us and gave us our maximum internet pins anyway – he said you’ve already bought so many (each of us had all five on our hats). As we were checking out, another CM asked if I had the special edition AP pins. I didn’t even know they existed! Yes – I bought them.

The boys took off to get the fast passes. We waited in that area for the boys to come back. Then we all took off to see Walt Disney, One Man’s Dream. I thoroughly enjoyed it. It brought back so many good memories of sitting in front of the TV on Sunday evenings. It was good to see “reruns” of sections that I remember watching live when I was a girl. Of course the boys skipped through it quickly.

We headed over to RNR, and I chickened out. We had split up for bathroom call and pin trading, but had agreed to meet in front of RNR. Well, there’s a big “front” of RNR. It wasn’t too crowded, but enough that we didn’t see each other for quite some time. Everyone found, we also picked up Muppets (a favorite) and Star Tours (another favorite). It was such a nice sunny afternoon that we decided to take the boat to Epcot.

Once in Epcot, the boys decided to ride Spaceship Earth. They raced on ahead, we took it easy, stopped for Fish and Chips in England (and a beer), then slowly made our way down towards The Land so we could stop in the newly opened Passholder’s Lounge. We stopped for pin trading and a beaver tail along the way.

We slowly made our way up towards Spaceship Earth, savoring the scenery along the way. We decided to stop in and visit the Passholder’s lounge at The Land. Guess who was the CM Host at that time? None other than Ron from last night! He remembered us, and made us feel very welcome. We enjoyed our visit, had a coke, and left to find the boys.

Boys found, we took the monorail to TTC – in the front, no less ! Once there, we decided just to hoof it over to the Poly for our “water mice” ride. We all enjoyed it, but I never made it over to Bay Lake – the “big” boats kept getting in my way!

After our “mice” ride, we enjoyed looking at the new pool at the Poly, pin trading, and just enjoying the ambience of the Polynesian resort (The center of the lobby was being refurbished – when we went back in June, the parrots were gone).

We took the bus back to MGM to get our car. From there we headed over to Port Orleans/Riverside for dinner. That was the first time Grant and I had been to that resort. We didn’t have to wait long for dinner, and it was very good.

On the way “home” , Downtown Disney beckoned us once again. More shopping and spending of money -–then we headed back to the condo.

Tomorrow – all four parks!
