Hi folks,
My 6 year old daughter Emily is sitting next to me right now and she just said that the Mickey Mouse at WDW is not the real mickey, just someone in a costume. I tried to explain to her that it's not just a costume....this is where the REAL Mickey lives!!
Can you help me explain to her that this is REALLY Mickey? Since you have all been there and she has not been there yet....she wanted me to ask you all.
Thank you in advance for all your help. Emily says Thank You too.

Well my kids have always thought that the REAL MICKEY MOUSE is a person in costume so I'm not sure what to say.....My 5 year old loves MM but doesn't question the multiplies we see in one day in a variety of costumes while at WDW....

Well I've always thought Mickey was real and I'm 30 years old. The first time we went to WDW I ran to meet Mickey! When he hugged me I sure did think he was the real Mickey! Where else would the real Mickey live except at Walt Disney World? Yep I believe!!

Does Emily know that she'll get to walk through Mickey's house when she is in toontown at MK? Minnie's house is there too.
Then she will see where they live.:D
Emily sounds very bright. Luckily for me my kids never asked too many ?s:)
I hope your trip is wonderful! Enjoy every minute!
I also have b/g twins....mine are 13 now, it seems like just yesterday they were little. I have a 6 year old DS also.

Of course Mickey Mouse is real!!! Like Lars said, his house is right there in the Magic Kingdom. . :D
You tell Emily Mickey is very real, and it's not just some guy in a costume. . . :D
Hi Emily!!! :bounce:
(Now Michael Eisner is another story; that's just some poor slob in a costume. .) ;)

I sent this as a PM to lisaost first to make sure it was okay...I am not sure if this will help but I remember when I was little and wondered about Santa… I just could not understand how he could do so much and be in so many places! I began to wonder if I was getting snowed! *pun intended*
My mom explained it to me this way…
She told me that of course Santa was real. When Santa first arrived on the scene there were a lot fewer people in the world and he could do everything himself and be everywhere a little child needed him. Then the world got bigger and bigger and Santa didn’t know what to do. Then he got the idea that he needed assistance, so he gathered his most precious helpers and gave them just a little bit of his magic.
He then sent these helpers around the world but continued to work as one of them. I always knew it was possible that I was speaking to the first Santa, but I also knew that if a little child was more in need of the first Santa that one of his magic helpers would be sure to pass along my wishes and love to him as soon as they met.
I am not sure if this will be of any help to you but I think it is very possible Mickey needs to work the same way.
This made a lot of sense to me as a child and I just knew that he was out there somewhere. I still do!
I felt dreadfully grown up to be let in on Santas secret and maybe Mickey's too. And awfully mature to be able to be glad that Santa was where he was truly needed.
I KNOW they are both real.

Yes Emily. Mickey is definately real. He comes into our lives, make us laugh, makes us happy and makes us giggle. :bounce:
He helps spread PD into our lives.
He could not do that if he was not real. :)

Oh Emily....it doesn't get any "realer" than Mickey Mouse. He is a mouse that makes sad people smile. He makes sick people feel like singing. He makes people who are feeling very old all of a sudden feel like a little kid again. He puts sparkles in people's eyes and in their hearts. Mickey Mouse makes magic real and touchable and "well of course it's magic" believable. I don't know of any PERSON who can do all of this....only a mouse...whose name is Mickey....and he is very very very real.

Hi Emily. My name is Shannon. I'm 32 years old and I have a son your age. He knows I think Mickey is real. Mickey puts a big smile on his mommy's face and makes my heart feel special.:) He and his 9 year old sister know if I need something extra special- give me something with Mickey Mouse on it. To me he's real (I've met him:bounce: ), hugged him, and even gave him a little kiss on the cheek.:)
I hope you get to meet him someday, too.:)

Here is a picture of Mickey with Beauty's son, John-Cole, and myself. Sure seems real to me, and I am 58. Mickey is as real to me, Emily, as that magical feeling I get when I go to Disney World or Disneyland. And believe me, Emily, that feeling is VERY real indeed. :earsgirl: :earsboy:

Emily,
Would this many people love WDW so much if Mickey Mouse weren't real?
You are going to have so much fun!!! Once you get to WDW, you'll be so happy, and that happiness you feel is so real that it will seem like you are glowing from inside out. Best part, when you meet Mickey, he'll be just as happy to see you and to know that you are real too!

Dear Emily,
Of course I am real. I can be so many place in so many outfits because it is all part of the Disney World Magic.
Visit my house, my favorite treat is right there...a big piece of cheese plus a beautiful picture of my favorite gal Minnie.
Emily, believe in Magic!
Love,
Mickey Mouse:smickey:
