We have always done the basic dining plan One Counter Service, One snack, and One Table Service a day.
This time we are thinking about the quick-service meal plan. 2 counter Services a day and 2 snacks a day plus 1 reusable mug for each person.
We are also thinking about paying out of pocket for a meal or two. The first day and the last day and may be one more in between.
those of you who have done the quick-service meal. did you still feel like it was a lot of food?

I thought it was a lot of food but I would not normally order desserts with a QS meal.
I was on QS for one night back in August. I ate at Tangierine Cafe for a late lunch. The plan was to pay for a TS restaurant at night but I couldn't eat any more so I skipped the TS restaurant. I'd think the QS plan would be more than enough food.

Haven't done the QS plan before, but as long as you can find enough different foods to eat @ CS venues (to keep from getting burned out on the same stuff over & over), it seems it would be enough food when you factor in the 2 snacks/day.
We don't look at it as being much of a value for the money when we add up the costs that we would spend on our own not being on the plan.

In my opinion the plan with 1 quick service, 1 sit down / table service and one snack is the best option. It is $39.99 per person pery day) It is just slightly more money than the basic plan ( 2 quick services). The basic is $29.99 per person per day. Im not a big fan of WDW's quick service places.

We did 8 days on the QSDP and it was definitely enough food. I thought we'd have to supplement a bunch of stuff during the week, but we didn't have to at all. We bought one meal out of pocket (by choice - the kids wanted to eat at Rainforest Cafe), but everything else we ate was on the plan, and I think we even had one meal left on the account at the end. I typically don't eat a lot of desserts, but once in a while it's nice. If I ate dessert with my meal, instead of getting a sweet snack during the day, I used the snack credits towards something light for breakfast, like yogurt, bagel, pastries, etc. If we ate a big breakfast, we usually weren't hungry for a big lunch, so the snacks held us through until dinner. The QSDP definitely worked for us. :thumbsup2

We are just back from 10 nights on the QSDP and it was more than enough food for us. I didn't have a burger all week, and only one hot dog from Casey's (because I have to have Casey's each trip), so there is plenty of variety to be found if you know your menus.

The costs are slightly off on your plans, but it's a moot point for most of the year as the increase was $2 on both sides.
The QSDP is $31.99/night per adult and $9.99 per child.
The DDP is
Peak Season: February 12 – April 10, 2010, June 4 – August 14, 2010, and December 17 – 31, 2010$47.99 per guest 10 and older and
$12.99 per child 3-9 years old
Regular Season (all other times of the year)
$41.99 per guest 10 and older and
$11.99 per child 3-9 years old

We have done the DDP and QSDP multiple times each. I felt like we got more food with the QSDP. Not that we went hungry with DDP.
The QSDP does make it easier to take the dessert to go, and eat when you are hungry later.
One stay we lucked out as we had the QSDP during the Food & Wine Fest. :worship: :woohoo:

Yep, it's a whole lot of food. We've done the DDP and the QSDP and prefer the latter. I liked having 2 snack credits per night, we always used one of them to get a bagel and cream cheese, cereal and milk, muffin, or a pastry from the food court each morning for breakfast, it's a plus that the refillable mug is included in the plan.

We're doing it this trip, because we lucked out on the gift card promotion, and we're going to use that for our TS meals. I hope it's enough food! The 2snack credits and the mug were what convinced me, and we don't mind Disney quick service. We'll see if it's too many QS meals or not.

I have used the QSDP a couple of times and was thoroughly stuffed the whole time. :goodvibes We dis'ers certainly know how to maximize our value so I ate at places like Flame Tree Barbecue [1/2 slab of ribs, beans, key lime dessert], Cosmic Rays [1/2 chicken and ribs, so-so dessert], Sunshine Seasons [1/2 a chicken, 2 sides and a wonderful array of incredible desserts], Pepper Market [ribeye with a potato and wonderful dessert and yes, I know the ribeye is now gone], WPE [multiple phenomenal choices], Tangierine Cafe [chicken and lamb combo, served with hummus, tabouleh, tangierine couscous salad, bread and baklava]. Then add two snacks for every day to that [usually used one for breakfast] . . . and I was half sick most of the time.
It was an incredible value for us, as well as more than enough food. I highly recommend it. :thumbsup2
I added the bolding just to show you how much food it can really be - and not one cheeseburger to be found.

I actually find that the quantity of food is bigger with a counter-service meal than with a table-service. The TS meals seem to be more human size portions. But, I've never been able to eat an entire CS meal by myself. We always share them.
Wolfgang puck Express is the best option that we've found for CS....some of the meals are pushing 20 bucks, add on a drink and a $6 creme brulee and that's a big value. It also FEELS like a TS restaurant. It's also great for take-out to go back and relax in the room or have a picnic. They are experts there at packing up all the food.

We had QS last year and we enjoyed it a lot. We also got a powerade bottle, a huge one as our drink to take to the parks and filled our mugs with anything else we wanted. We also had a $200 gift card that we used for 1 dinner with Cindarella at 1900 Park Fare. We are waiting to see what the specials will be for next year before we decide. If they offer a gift card again, we may skip the meal plan since our kids eat so little, and we would need to get it for the 3 y.o. Last year, she was 2 and shared with her older sister, who was 3. We'll see. I will miss it though if we don't get it The kids LOVED getting popcorn everyday while waiting for the parade and we also used a snack credit for a quick breakfast. Enjoy.

Its looking like the QS is going to be the way to go for us. We are thinking about just paying out of pocket for 2 meals.
Thanks

I'm curious, if you have a CS,S, or TS meal left at the end of your stay, do they refund the price to you somehow? or is it just a loss on your part? It really doesn't matter, just wondering.

Nope, no refunds on unused credits. We always end up with snack credits left over and use them for treats from the food court and gift shop. We've never had any meal credits left though.

We just did the QSDP for a week, and honestly, I thought it was too much food. I was eating when I wasn't hungry! I would never order dessert if I wasn't on the plan, a lot of places you could get soup or salad or something else instead of the dessert which was good, but still so much food!
we did pay OOP for one meal at Chef Mickeys, and the plan was to do another ts oop, but we had no room in our bellies on any other day, and so many credits to use up!
at the end we had a ton of credits, and took a big bag of snacks and sandwiches home with us on the plane!
it was convenient of course to have it all paid up front, but next time we are going to wing it and just room charge all the food, which would be just as easy :) just pull out the kttw card.

After 3 trips on the DDP I look forward to the QSP in March. I always felt I was eating too much on the DDP and the time spent on getting to (and from) my ADR was slowing the family up. It will be interesting to see how I feel about the QSP after March.
Whenever one of my younger kids turns 10 .... we are off the plan and onto a cash basis .... I'm not paying $32 to $48 for a 10 year old that eats Chicken Nuggets. TIW is the next option.
