never booked tables at restaurants for DLP in advance before. Should I? How should I?

The easiest way to do it is when you arrive at your hotel - the concierge will be able to do it for you. Or go to City Hall in the main park - they can also do it all for you. As long as you're not visiting in main school holidays, you shouldn't have much problem getting the restaurants you want, when you want them, by booking when you arrive at the resort :).

It depends if you're going at a busy time really. We tend to, so we tend to make reservations in advance. Others have just as much success making reservations at City Hall on the day of their arrival, or with their hotel.
If a particular restaurant is a must-do for you though, I'd advise advance reservations, and for Cafe Mickey which gets really busy.
You can call the reservations line in France on 00 33 1 60 30 40 50.
It will ask if you want to speak in English. I've never had any problems.
Mods - lots of us have given this number out, and if it's in the Stickies I can't find it, might it be a good idea to have it easily visible in the Useful Info sticky?

I thought it was already there? I'll have a look later, get it included :).

Our next trip is for our sons birthday. We want to eat in Cafe Mickey on his birthday. As we're going late August, is it worth booking? Do we have to pre-order the cake or can we do it when we get there? How far in advance do people normally book?
We've never booked before, we'd normally just go to a different restaurant if one is full.

I've found it now, half way down booking and contact information. Maybe it can be more obvious, since people often ask so they obviously haven't found it either? Or perhaps it's just me being stupid, perfectly plausible!

I think you'll be okay booking the restaurant and the cake when you get to your hotel or at City Hall, especially if you're not intending going to Cafe Mickey until a couple of days after you arrive.
