Found out today the wife has an mri next wed morn. She has been getting dizzy and last week got dizzy and lost her sight for a few min. She was driving on the highway with all the kids in the car. Luckily her sister was in the car and able to steer to the side of the road. No history other than slight dizzyness from time to time. They are going to look at the part of the brain that controls balance and sight to see if there is anything wrong. I lightened the mood when I asked if they could look at the part of the brain that got us lost 3 times on the way to the Ft last Oct and see what was wrong there. At least it made her laugh during a stressful time. Ill post more when we know. Feels strange to ask for prayers on my end but if you would we would appreciate it.

I'm sorry to hear this, but better to have the MRI so they can figure out what's going on and get to the business of getting her better. I've had 4 brain MRI's. I could have saved them a lot of time by telling them myself there's nothing there!:rotfl2: Praying for a good, easy solution to the problem!:thumbsup2

They need to check you again for otter spotter disease. On a serious note though prayers to your wife. Praying for a good result.

Praying here also. side note.....I've had several MRIs lately and have learned a trick for those of us who are clautrophobic. Take a blindfold with you. Then you can't accidentally open your eyes and see how close the tube is. It also helps if your tech will play music really loud for you.

I never experienced claustrophobia until I had my MRI's. I coped with it by shutting my eyes very tightly & singing hymns at the top of my lungs! I'm sure I drove the tech's crazy, but it was better than me panicking and trying to escape from the machine. I also have these crazy phobia's of having to either: (1) pee real badly (2) cough uncontrollably (3) passing gas (4) itching my nose (5) all of the above, when I had my MRI's. I admit it....I'm weird!! :rotfl2::confused3:rotfl2:

I hate getting MRI's. . . but if I ever have to again, I'm going to remember this post and possibly do one or two, maybe even all three of the things you mention above from laughing so hard!
Sorry to hi-jack your post OP - I really hope everything turns out ok!! I had a similar situation a few years ago (dizzy spells) and it turned out to be nothing. Hope the same goes for your wife!!!

We'll be praying for you as well. Here's hoping it was nothing more than low blood sugar or exhaustion or something.
The more I age, the more I realize that the two most important things on earth are good health and happiness. I wish you luck in both. The rest is icing on the cake.

Wow, she must have been terrified when that happened. Will definitely send up a prayer for her and your whole family.

Hang in there!
Let me share with you that this has happened to me twice in my life. Same symptoms - loss of vision was definitely the most predominant and scary one. Happened in 1998 (I was 25) and again in 2008 (I was 35). Had MRIs done both times - with and without contrast. In '98, my doctor seemed convinced that they would find I had MS due to a strong family history of it on both sides. They also told me the MRI would check for brain tumors, aneurysms or other trauma. The MRI came back "showing nothing" (which was a big joke between my doctor and me for a long time - "Told you there'd be nothing between your ears"), but they diagnosed me with retro-bulbar optic neuritis (swelling of the optic nerve behind the eye). They had no idea what caused the swelling, which caused the vision loss, which caused the other symptoms, other than to say that it was possible that some kind of virus got into the nerve.
In '08 when it happened I was referred to a neuro-ophthalmologist. Again, they determined that my optic nerves were swollen and this time, raised. The neuro referred me for another MRI and this time I also got a carotid artery scan (did this to see if there was potentially a tear in the artery which could cause blood to not flow properly to the brain) and an echocardiogram/TEE (this was to determine if a potential hole in my heart was causing the issues), and the echo was internal. I had to swallow a camera. Not fun! They did not tell me this ahead of time so it was just dumb luck that I have a wonderful husband who demands to go with me to every appointment. Otherwise they woud have had to admit me because I wouldn't have been able to drive. Again - all these tests simply showed that the optic nerve was swollen and they could not determine why. The neuro essentially wrote it off to that and the possibility of migraines (which I've never had).
All this to say - don't let your wife get discouraged if they don't find anything. The tests are a pain and the possibilities will scare you, but just listen to the doctors and follow their lead. If you aren't happy, get a second opinion. When I had my routine eye exam with my ophthalmologist last Feb, the optic nerves were still swollen and raised. He did a bunch of other tests there in his office - retinal scans, visual fields, etc - and they cannot figure out why they appear to be permanently swollen. Don't know if we'll ever know. I anticipate hearing the same news when I go next week.
Anyway - sorry for the novel but just wanted you to know that you're not alone.
Good luck, and she'll be in my prayers!

Hi everyone. I didnt realize he had posted this. Thank you for the prayers and concerns. I hope everything will be fine but if they do find something than at least we will know why these things are happening and then we can go from there. Thanks again. Rebekah

The results showed nothing wrong. Thanks again for the prayers. I actually got to sit in and see the whole thing. One of the perks of working there. No word on the directions thing though.:confused3 Now on to the E N T DR. Not a lot of confidence with this step. Want to go to the neuroligist but we will do all the steps needed. We'll keep everyone posted.

Glad to hear the MRI was clean. As far as the ENT....makes sense to me. It could be something going on in the inner ear causing the problem. Rule out the obvious first, then dig deeper if you have to. Neurologists can order tests that seem downright medieval! Good luck & I'm hoping it's something simple, like fluid in the inner ear or a slight case of vertigo - which can be treated with meds. Fingers are crossed and saying prayers!

I'm so glad to hear that things went well. :thumbsup2
I hope you're able to find out what's causing the problem quickly and that the appropriate treatment is found soon.

Glad to hear that they have found nothing major wrong. Still praying you find an answer with a simple solution.
Rebekah, I am betting the answer lies in the fact that you must have an amazing, loving and devastatingly handsome husband who still takes your breath away, that's all. Still swooning after all these years. See, I know, 'cause Nancy has the same problem. Poor girl :rotfl:

Now there seems to be something else wrong with her. She's rolling around on the floor and laughing uncontrolably.:confused3

Well neurologist cant figure it out. Not vertigo either. Tld her to stop drinking caffine to see if that helps with the headaches. Nothing for the dizziness or blacking out. The only bad thing about modern med. is if a+b doesnt equall c then they have no idea what to do. All the old docs that knew how to use theyre brains to figure things out instead of a book are gone.

I will chime in here not to be funny but to share my experiance from being dizzy for a couple years. To make a long story short my house doesn't have nail polish or remover anymore and it was like magic that as soon as someone moved out who used these things my head cleared up and no more headaches or dizziness. Then the dog came in the house in the winter and it returned so the dog was put in the laundry room and I only got headaches when I went near or in there. Since the spring even with the pollen, no dizzy or headaches. Sometimes its something just that simple. I hope its that simple for y'all. I went to all kinds of doctors and a million different pills and nothing helped until (see above)
