Ramps: Curb ramps and interior or
exterior ramps to be constructed on sites or in
existing buildings or facilities where space
limitations prohibit the use of a 1:12 slope or
less may have slopes and rises as follows:
(i) A slope between 1:10 and 1:12 is allowed
for a maximum rise of 6 inches.
(ii) A slope between 1:8 and 1:10 is allowed
for a maximum rise of 3 inches. A slope steeper
than 1:8 is not allowed.

I admit to not having seen one of the current guide brochures. (It is just easier for me to approach thr cast member at a given attraction if I need help) The older brochure had a warning/recommendation to use the ferryboats instead of the monorail, because the ramp to the monorail platform is steep.

When I was in a push-type wheelchair, my Dad had to push me up the ramp, bucause I would always choose the monorail over the ferryboat.

Here is a DISboards thread on the subject.

Wait, I though John was the genius and Kevin was the tease :confused3. Now I'm just confused.

Having had to push DW up and down those ramps when she had knee problems a few years ago I can certainly see where they would be too steep - those things are a bear. Heck, they're pretty painful just to walk up and down with healthy legs, especially after a long day in the parks, lol.

The monorail ramps! OMG! I had to push my wife up that steep ramp once when she was in a wheelchair. I thought I'd need a wheelchair by the time we got to the top!

John may be a genius, but Kevin is the one who taught him everything he knows. Right, Kevin?

The monorail ramps are approved by the ADA, which is why they haven't added an elevator. If they are being grandfathered in, then they are just 2 cheap to add an elevator.

I gave kathy that information about the Ferry last week, but it didn't quite make the podcast in time. Ferry boats have resumed operation as normal. However, I believe there is still only 1 cruiser and 1 launch on the ft wilderness route. Usually there are 2 cruisers, so capacity is less and it will slow down travel time a bit.

up north in Penna. we also have a rule that says your only allowed to run
the slope of the ramp for 20 feet; you then need a flat level section; and then you can continue the slope for another 20 feet.etc...
I remember the ramps being steep but, can someone post a photo of
the ramp. just curious.

I read the title and found myself thinking "Kevin found a place at Disney that serves ramps???" (the wild onion)
