OK. So I don't like that they make you buy a ticket to anything when you sign up for a race, but at least this one makes more sense than a one day ticket for us Annual Pass Holders.
Looking at the Advance Ticket price for a similar date last year it was $52 (Plus Tax) for that day of the week so the race would be around $50.
Why not have it $50 for the race and the option to buy the MNSSHP ticket? That's alot of Jack for a family to do a 5k. However, if you were planning on doing both anyway it would be a slight savings and be completed in one transaction.
I'll bet the shirt and Rubber Medal is going to be really cool for this.

Kind of annoyed that you have to buy the Not-So-Scary ticket too. We were planning on heading home on Sunday and would not be able to use the tickets. I really want to do the race but am a bit torn now...

I'll be at WDW that weekend anyway so I just might do it- a 5 K isn't going to take alot of time away from the friends I'm with- but I'm not sure I'd use the MNSSHP ticket on sunday night either

The ticket for Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party was quite a nice surprise. The first (and last) time I went it was raining so I didn't get to see the Headless Horseman

Not happy at all with this. My vote is that you sign up for the race and if you want to go MVSHP than you buy a ticket and go. Why are they forcing you on certain night to go? If you are planning something else that night it is not right to charge you for a ticket then not use it. Maybe you’re planning to go another night with your family. It does not appear you get any type of discount. I am a DVC member and can get the ticket at a discount. I don't like this at all. I wonder if there is any way around this. Doesn’t quite seem fair to me.

Disney is screwing us over just to get a few extra bucks.
We planned on doing the 5K & the Half, but now just the Half, since we'll be driving back home on Sunday.
Come on Disney, people gotta work Monday. Why MAKE someone go to a party that is from 7pm-12am on a Sunday?
It's just stupid not to have an option to just do the race (without the MNSSHP ticket). It's just about as stupid as making you buy a park ticket with your Everest registration.

ditto. Won't MOST people (like me) leave on sunday? I can't stay an extra day...they should neither NOT include the ticket, or let you pick which night/party you go to. Come on Disney...I don't like greediness like this coming to Disney. I like to think Disney actually cares about their customers, ecpecially their runners!

I was also "sticker shocked" on this one! I got my dd all into doing it but when I saw the price that idea got shot down the tubes. Especially since we'll have to be heading home on that Sunday, not to mention that dd doesn't want to go to MNSSHP. Oh well...:sad2:
I tend to agree with some of the other posters. I feel Disney is ripping us off on this one:(

I agree that we should not be forced to buy a ticket for anything, but at least I can use the Halloween party ticket. With the EE race, they force you to buy a park ticket and as an AP holder I've got no need for it.
They need to put these as options. I think they'd still sell tickets to the park and the party, but it's not fair to force the issue.

I wonder if anyone knows who we can write to or email to air our dissatisfaction with this. We as consumers need to send a message so Disney is aware of our disapproval. These two events have nothing in common and should not be grouped together. Why make people pay for things they may not even be able to use. We willingly pay well for many things at Disney but please give us a choice on this one.:scratchin

I believe they have a great deal in common. I do agree that the fact that they are so separated by time is a problem though.

well, they do have something in common, but a lot of ppl jsut want to run the race, or want to go to the part yon a different night. for a compny so big on options and variations and choosing your resort, tickets, food, etc. there sure is not a lot of choosing or flexibility with this race!

I am really annoyed by this ticket to the halloween party being forced on us. I woulld go home on sunday andthe tix wouldbe useless to me. and I refuse to pay $99 for just a 5k. I waited for months until they opened this up to sign up. There was no advanced warning on the website that this would be a part of the deal and now the other small races for that time of the year in WDW are full. I am So mad.

FYI I emailed Disney today and received a pretty snotty answer back that this was a package and basically to bad that they did not advertise this while we were waiting for registration to open therefore missing out on registering for other races like race for the taste. I ust expect better of WDw and their customer service. they really should offer a tix without the party. I wonder how it will affect the attendance.

So you know, last year was the final Race for the Taste. In 2010, Race for the Taste was not scheduled, the Everest Challange was moved to June and the Wine & Dine Half and Halloween 5K were scheduled (essentially replacing the Race for the Taste).

Don't forget, the Tower of Terror races have
also been eliminated.

the sad thing is, it won't affect attendance. They will still have a ton of people, and make a ton of money, so what we think sadly won't matter. Disney is disapointing me!

Yeah, I am already registered for the 5k. I will do the race that morning then fly out that evening, so I will not be able to use the Halloween party ticket. Does anyone know if "I" have to use the ticket or can I give it to someone else to use for that night??? I again have no plans on using and would love to be able to give it to someone else to use.

myhouseofmouse-
I'm running the 5K and the half marathon that night. We'll be at WDW for another week past the races and are thinking of going to MNSSHP on Sunday, the 3rd. I've already bought my ticket to MNSSHP with my 5K registration. My brother will be with me, and we're celebrating his 50th birthday. I haven't picked up a ticket for him yet. If it's determined that tickets can be "shared", I'd be interested. Maybe we can PM about this?

CALIFLADY-
Yeah that sounds fine, I have to see the ticket go to waste and will have no use for it. Send me a PM and we can work out the details. We just have to find out if I can just give it to you or if it is somehow tied to me...

We are annual pass holders and just ran the EE 5K. When I emailed Disney, we were told that we could give the park tickets that came with our registration to friends or family to use anytime before the expiration date. I bet you can give the MNSSHP tickets to friends and family too.
(I was actually hoping that we could trade the part tickets that we didn't need for one of those fancy fast passes that we/pass holders received for Give a Day Get a Day.)

Let me get this straight, package pickup is Friday, race is Saturday and the MNSSHP is Sunday. Which means I have to fly in on Thursday or Friday morning, and stay until Monday. I don't mind travelling to running events, but sometimes I feel like Disney is trying to get every dollar they possibly can out of my wallet.................

You're shocked how? I have a similar running portfolio as you at the mouse house. I added up the expenditures from 99 through 09. It was not pretty.

Packet pick-up on Friday, race on Saturday morning, and party on Sunday night doesn't seem very magical to me either... :headache:
I emailed disney sports yesterday asking if it would be possible to exchange the Oct. 3 party tickets for Oct. 1 tickets. We must drive back to GA on Saturday and so can't go to the party Sunday night.
I am not expecting a positive response, but will let you all know what they say.
Also- does anyone know which organization will be the beneficiary for these races?

My question sent to Disney Sports:
"Will it be possible to exchange the October 3rd party tickets for October 1st tickets? "
Here is the reply I received today:
"Unfortunately, this is a packaged event and the Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Ticket that is included with the Race Registration is only valid for October 3. "

Yeah That is a shame on the party ticket, but then again, not doing the race for the ticket....less then 2 months...disney here we come...

I am not happy about this either. We will be in WDW the week prior to the race and will be going to MNNSHP earlier in the week. But we are leaving on the 3rd, so I will have to toss the ticket as well. I'm the only one running, so it will be about 55 bucks, I think, wasted. :)
I thought about shifting the dates of our vacation by one day (checking in a day later then originally planned so we'd be there on the third and I could make use of the party ticket on the night of the third). But because the rates of the hotel rooms change from Value to Peak rates the weekend of the race, it would have cost me more money to shift my stay and stay the night of the third then the wasted $55.00 on the Halloween party ticket.
I noticed that the race still has not posted 50% yet. I wonder if this is why registration isn't filling up very fast? I did call to express my disappointment with this arrangement. It doesn't leave a very "magical" feeling, does it? :)

Wow I did not realize it was only at 50% full....Well I hope Disney learns from this and does soemthing about it for the next 5K. I think they just thought most people would be down for the whole weekend for the races. But I'm sure there are alot f people like me who booked earlier and are leaving during the weekend. I fly out that night, so the ticket is not an added value for me.
