Can someone post this thread to the 2/13/2011 7-night Mexican Riviera Sailing on the Wonder? Thank you!:flower3:
Just got back a week ago from a 3-day Bahama cruise (1/21/10) and have already booked this cruise. I'm so excited:cheer2:. The 3-day cruises are never long enough. The 7-day cruises are just the right amount of time to acclimate, relax and enjoy. Anyone else out there booked this cruise yet?
I have been asked to add a roll call to my posting showing all the Disers who will be on the Wonder 2/13/2011 Cruise to the Mexican Riviera - those with FE beside their names have indicated in their postings that they are participating in the Fish Extenders - please PM me with any changes or add a post to the board. I apologize if I got any information incorrect.

I know you are going to LOVE  the cruise. I wasn't sure if I would like cruising when I took my first one, but I am completely hooked on them now. They are by far the best way to vacation. It must be fun being the Mom to three boys. I love being a Mom to four daughters. It is very rewarding but it sure keeps me busy. Hope you have a great time on your cruise and I can't wait to hear your thoughts on it when you return.

Hi!
We will be joining you on the Wonder for 7 nights in February for our first 7 day Disney cruise:cheer2:. We have done a 3 night and 4 night with the kids and then a three night - all adult - DH, my Mom and Dad- which was awesome. To this day, the kids don't know we did an adult-only Disney cruise. Please don't tell them :rolleyes1.
For the MR cruise, we will be taking DD(17), niece (9), DH (52) and me of course (42).
We love all things Disney and after cruising with several other lines, still think that DIsney has the best customer service and family entertainment of any cruise line.

Welcome Aboard! Glad to know some more people that will be on this cruise! This cruise will be adults only - me and DH. We always take a Disney Cruise without the kids once a year to celebrate our Anniversary and I'm so excited that this cruise is during the week of Valentine's Day - very romantic  I love the 7 day cruises because by the 4th or 5th day you have gotten over the initial excitement, done alot and actually have days you can sleep in and really enjoy what cruising is all about - relaxing. Although there is alot of stuff to do on the cruises, one of my fondest memories from my last cruise with my DH was just sitting on the upper deck, sipping coffee and enjoying an afternoon movie on the large outdoor movie screen. Nothing substitutes for quality time with your spouse. In my hectic everyday routine taking care of 4 daughters, I don't get alot of quality time with my DH so I really enjoy having him all to myself on these "adult only" cruises.

Hello to everyone in this group. I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself. My name is Monica and I live in Mazatlan, Sinaloa Mexico. For anyone on a future Disney cruise to the Mexican Riviera, I am pleased to make myself available to you for any questions about the city of Mazatlan or country of Mexico.
As for myself, I am a resident of both the United States and of Mexico. I speak both English and Spanish fluently and I have sailed on DCL numerous times and have been a lifelong fan of Disney. Let me say right upfront, I am NOT selling anything nor am I affiliated with any business or tour company. I am only here to help and give honest information and opinions in an attempt to make your time in Mazatlan or Mexico a positive experience.
I hope that everyone will welcome me to the discussion and that I can be of assistance to anyone who has a question about my city or country. I will attempt to check the boards once per day, but should I miss a question, please do not hesitate to send me a private message. I look forward to getting to know everyone!
Gracias,
Monica

I just paid our deposit for 2/13/11 so I think we're joining all of you to Mexico.
Myself, DH, DS(10), DS (8), from Ventura County, California.
We had no plans on cruising DCL anytime soon. We actually had the MR cruise booked 2 years ago but canceled because $6K was wayyy to much money...
Once I saw the kids free, I jumped on it. The price is much better then 2 years ago...
Even cheaper then our Princess Alaska cruise June 2009 which was also a 2for1 deal.
Kids didn't really like the Princess kids clubs or activities, so we're hoping Disney will be great!!
Looking forward to chatting with everyone over the months to come.

We just changed from April to Feb 13th thanks to kids sail free!!! (It works better with the school schedule anyway).
This will be our first cruise (and my first trip solo with the kids - but my parents are coming along too so I'm not as nervous). It will be me (39), my three boys, Cameron (will be 18 a week before crusie date), Zak 14, and Kaleb 9. Then my parents.
It so so exciting to have something fun to look forward to!!!

We are all looking forward to our third Disney cruise, cannot wait to sail the MR.
There are 8 of us going, Shawn and Sue (Disney Parents), Logan 5, Lucas 4, Lily 2 and Liam 1 (Disney Kids) and Kristen and John (Disney sister / Disney nanny and soon to be Disney Brother in-law)
We recently discovered DIS so we are both still newbies, but we are interested in chatting with others that will be on our curise and we are on board for the fish extenders, something we have never done, but always asked "what the heck are those?"
Looking forward to getting to know you all.

Hi everyone, I saw the KSF and jumped on it. This will be our first cruise. I'm really excited to see other families with small children. Cruising will be me Rebecca, my husband Patrick, Harrison (5), and Delaney (2). Grandma also going to be joining us from Michigan.
We live in Orange County, so no airplane ride for us, and that's a big money saver!!
We are interested in the FE also. I'm so excited, my husband is already tired of listening to me talk about our cruise.

We are thinking about staying out in CA for a few days following the cruise, it is not too often that we are going to be that far west of CT so we are thinking about a few days in DisneyLand as well as a few of the other CA sites.

Disneyland is great in Feb. Not crowded at all. We are annual pass holders, so we go often. Feel free to ask any questions about the area. I’m sure that there will be many locals on the Mexican Riviera cruise who will be able to give you some great ideas!

This will also be our 1st DCL.
We are planning on bringing a Fish Extender and think it would be fun to coordinate as the time gets closer. I think our kids would love little surprises and we would like to do the same for others.
I just picked up pirate costumes online for Pirate Night for the kids!
Is there anyway to add a section at the beginning of our thread with a sort of roll call listing the people on our cruise so far?

I know it is still a ways away, but I enjoy the planning part.
Here is the link to the DCL Mexico Navigators from 2008. I enjoyed reading through some of them..Even though shows and events will be different.

Hi Monica. Thank you for offering advices. I want to know what kind of excursion you would recommend with a 3 years old. We were looking at a half day excursion that includes city tour and some type of cultural show at Aztec Theater? What do you think? And what is a must see in Mazatlan?

Hi Everyone! I'm almost postive we're going to be one this cruise :yay: What a deal with kids sailing for free! It will be the second cruise for me (Tania) , DH (Adam) and DS Jet (6), (never did finish that first trip report though). I'm excited to see there's already a bunch of kids Jet's age :) Assuming all goes as planned I'd love to get invoved with the FE's especially since it's during valentines day, but someone will have to explain how it all works :rotfl:
I'm not sure where we'll be staying pre/post cruise. Usually we rent a car and stay in Anaheim, but finding something closer to port, or transportation to and from...I'm at a loss

Hi, everyone
We just jumped ship from the November 6 Magic Eastern to this cruise due to job change. We are psyched, because this will be our 12th Disney Cruise but the first to the Mexican Riviera, and our first out of California. Since it will sail over Valentine's Day and travel to the ports the old Pacific Princess of TV Love Boat fame sailed, we're calling it our "Love Boat" cruise.
We're leaving the kids at home for this one ;-)

So we have decided to do a few days prior to the curise at disneyland, as much as I would love to stay at one of their properties, for 2.5 days it just doesn't make sense. I am looking for a little help as to where to stay that is close to disneyland (walking distance would be great), clean and is very kid friendly. there are so many "good neighbor" hotels listed, but I no idea which to even consider. I have a few other questions, but will ask those later. thanks for your help.

Hey there, Smbertram. I just started a thread on this you might want to follow...it's where I "bumped into" doombuggy. She joined this thread before me, so I hadn't seen her name there before. Sorry to mislead, doombuggy!
I had a friend who went on the Panama cruise a while back and there were enough Disboarders with similar pre-and post-cruise Disneyland itineraries that they were able to arrange all sorts of ride shares and I think even a whole chartered bus to the port!
Just to sum up what I wrote on that thread...the last thing we want to do after one night pre cruise at the Grand Californian Villas and 7 nights on the Wonder is finish off the trip in some creepy Katella or Harbour Blvd hotel where people run around yelling all night long but that still costs over $100. I know there have to be some decent places out there...don't need to be new or fancy, just clean and safe and not criminally overpriced. I scared myself by reading the TripAdvisor reviews...even places with $150 per night range rooms were drawing more than a few awful reports. Disneyland hotel is currently booking at $330 a night...not willing to go to that expense. So we're hunting for an option in between!

It looks like air with decent times on the 20th is more expensive to leave that day so I think we will do DL post cruise instead. We will do one night precruise at doubletree for free shuttle, then wonder then 3-4 nights post cruise (like skylynx) Still trying to figure out accomodations post cruise but would rather not have to rent a car. There are many good neighboor hotels and it's really hard to choose from. I'd like something with a free breakfast. Let me know what everyone is choosing. Has anyone booked air yet?

We fly Southwest all the time out of Chicago Midway, and Southwest opens their fare window for Jan-March on August 17 (Tuesday). So we'll know our flight options then.
So many combinations are possible with free shuttles to/from airport from some hotels, justifying the higher prices (as long as they are reliable). It will be a puzzle, for sure.
MNmomor4
08-12-2010, 11:55 AM
Skylynx, which airport will you be flying into? More options for us to choose from again. I'm really looking forward to this trip!

08-12-2010, 12:20 PM
From Chicago Midway, we can take Southwest to LAX, SNA (John Wayne Orange County) and, if pressed, Ontario or Burbank (though those are a bit further). Fares for us are usually higher at SNA than LAX, and there are more flights to/from LAX, but SNA would be our first choice. We can also fly into one and out the other, if that works out better. It's one of the many reasons why I LUV Southwest.

Glad to know that we will not be the only adults on board without our kids. I always feel a little guilty when my DH and I take our yearly cruise to celebrate our Wedding Anniversary. I would feel alot more guilty if we didn't take the kids to DisneyWorld on a regular basis. We both look forward to spending quality time together and not having to focus on anything but each other. I like your thought that this is a "Love Boat" cruise. I watched that T.V. show religiously when it was on. I'm getting very excited now that I'm talking about the cruise.:yay:

Hi, Purplejewel
We just took the kids (17 and 14) on the Wonder two weeks ago, with three days afterwards at WDW. We'll do the same thing again next summer on the Dream for DD's high school graduation. No guilt. :-) DH and I had originally booked a 7 day Magic cruise to the Eastern Caribbean in November, but when it conflicted with an assignment at work we opted to change it to the Mexican Riviera. We're really excited about the change, as we've already done the Eastern/Western and wanted to do another 7 day by ourselves. While I love our family cruises, it is also so nice to go by ourselves, too.
Everything I knew about cruising before I actually went on a cruise I learned from watching the Love Boat! We have the DVD sets and put them on every so often for a laugh. Still good entertainment if you can abide the cheese factor and the 70's fashions. Since this cruise goes to the same fabled ports and sails over Valentine's Day, it just HAD to be the Love Boat Cruise for us!
Let us know if you have second dining, and if you'd be looking for table mates. Sounds like we may be kindred spirits!

We are taking our four daughters to DisneyWorld for 7 days the 3rd week in October this year. They love celebrating Halloween at DisneyWorld. We have also already booked a 3-day Disney Cruise to the Bahamas in November of 2011 that will be our daughters 1st Disney Cruise. They are so excited even though it is still well over a year away. We decided to take them on a short cruise first to see if they enjoy it before booking a longer one with them. I'm sure they will love it though.
We have already signed up for the 2nd dining time on the cruise. We love the late seating because it gives us more time during the day to enjoy excursions and relaxing before having to go back to the cabin to get ready for dinner. The only downside is the last night of the cruise when we have to practically run back to the cabin to change and get our luggage set out in the hallway in time for pickup:) It would be great to have tablemates that are not total strangers this time. It does sound like we would probably have alot in common since our children are around the same ages and, just like us, you take vacations without the kids sometimes. Do you know how to arrange this? Is it something you have to do before the trip or something you do after you are on board?
Well, gotta go, we are taking the girls to a water park today and they don't understand why Mommy is on the computer instead of getting ready to go:)

Hi, Purplejewel...a little closer to the cruise all one of us needs to do is call DCL and ask our reservation numbers to be linked. All this does is put us at the same table. I've done it a couple times before, and have always been glad I did! I'll PM you further about this.
Jimmy Buffett is in town tonight, so we're off for some leftover tropical vacation fun. It cracks me up to see the Parrotheads getting older and saggier and balder, but Jimmy just keeps rocking on in his shorts and bare feet at the concert. The appeal of finding the little bit of pirate in oneself keeps his franchise going, I guess.
On the subject of the Love Boat, last year I got on to a Cruise Critic thread about the Love Boat and the old Pacific Princess, and for one week, Gavin McLeod (yes, the formidable teddy bear Captain Stubing) was posting on the site, answering questions, etc. Too funny.
Have a great weekend, everyone, from muggy, sticky, smoldering Chicagoland.

Glad to see some activity here:cool1:! We are franticly searching flights too. Our nearest southwest is 100 miles away! Not sure what we will do. Panicking:scared1: that we will wait to long and pay way to much. We have not done alot of flying so this is new to us. Right now we can do round trip on delta for $350pp. Does it just go up from here or will they announce deals soon? If I see any discounts I will let everyone know!

Air seems a little high right now. I did find air to ontario at $220 which is about $130 pp cheaper. I'm not sure if it's worth the hassle. I think I would fly on the 12th and stay at the doubletree near the port and then spend a few days at DL before heading home.

Hi everyone, looks like only 120 more days until the cruise! Will be going with my husband and daughter (8) for our first cruise ever. On my first cruise (and every cruise thereafter:lmao:) I have gotten sea sick. However, I even get motion sick sometimes in cars (like when I try to read in the car) so I expected to get sea sick. I just take a bottle of dramamine with me and about 2 hours before I know the ship will "set sail" and start moving, I pop a pill. The bottle says you can take several a day but one usually does it for me. Just enough to keep me from feeling ill. I take one each morning and then I'm good for the day. On my first cruise, even given my history with car sickness, I didn't bring any medication and got so ill on the first evening that I really didn't enjoy dinner or the show at all. After buying the medication on board (WOW did it cost alot on board) taking the medication, I was fine. Now, I never take a cruise without my own bottle of medecine. My DH has never had a problem though - I guess it depends on the person. I would bring some medecint just to be on the safe side though. See you on the cruise:banana:

Just booked our Palo dinner on Valentine's day, plus brunch, high tea, and the whale watch excursion in Cabo. Not sure if we'll do any other excursions or just wander about by ourselves.

We will also be doing a few days pre or post cruise and i was wondering where you will be staying?
We're staying at the Villas at Grand Californian using our DVC points.
We're going to be there from Feb. 11th through the 13th.
Did you decide on where to stay?

Just made our final payment today, booking Palo on Monday! Is there a fish extender list circulating? If so, please add us. We have cruised with DCL three times, but have never been apart of the fish extendor experience. Do you need cabin numbers or participants names. Please let me know.

Palo does a "to die for" brunch on at-sea days with personal wood fired pizzas, mimosas, amazing breads, cakes, cheeses, shrimp, cooked entrees and also breakfast items, done buffet style with some cook-to-order items like omelets and the pizzas.
They also do a high tea with, well, tea of course, and scones, clotted cream, cakes, etc. It is very elegant.
Lots of fun to do these in addition to a Palo dinner!

DH having cold feet about flying to LAX:thumbsup2. So we are down to the last days before we can change it. I am running the numbers and getting all the info together so he will feel better. Any advice? We normaly drive to Port Canaveral so there is no flight plans and worries, I think that is what is stressing him the most:rotfl2:He is a what if guy. We have to be prepared in case we miss the flight and have a backup plan:scared1: he stresses me out:lmao:I can not wait to RELAX:banana:.
As far as the FE list someone is going to have to volunteer to keep up with it, I am not that organized and I have my stressing hubby to take care of:rolleyes1. Anyone thought about a meet:grouphug: on the cruise, we did one on our August cruise and it was fun to put faces to screen names:surfweb:.

Sorry to be exiting this great group but my DD's school teachers have not yet ratified their contract and it looks like it will place the mid-winter break in the following week so we are cancelling our reservation and moving to the 20th.

Hello, everyone!
My wife and I will be on board, as well. This will be our 4th cruise, but 2nd on our favorite cruise line and first to the MR! (The others have all been Bahamian/Caribbean cruises). We will be celebrating our 20th anniversary on this little foray and are very much looking forward to it.
I've been to L.A. only once (on business) - flew into SNA - and have never been to LAX. We're flying from Columbus, Ohio on Southwest and will probably take the flight into LAX, since those appear to be the lowest fares for us.
We're flying in on Saturday (arrive mid-afternoon) and are considering staying at the Disneyland Hotel and visiting Downtown Disney on Saturday evening. However, I can't seem to wrap my arms around travel options from airport to Disneyland and, then, from Disneyland to the port. (Plus, I suppose, the trip from the port back to LAX after the cruise concludes).
Any ideas what the best options would be and how much the cost is? Where can I find this out? Is there a Magical Express from LAX to Disneyland? I can't imagine a cab ride is going to be cheap. I've read about a SuperShuttle to Disneyland, but it says it makes several stops on the route and I don't see anything about the trip to the port. :confused3
Any insight would be fantastic!
Again, we're really looking forward to this! Enjoy reading all your posts and look forward to sharing the Wonder with you all!
PS - We have two teenage sons who have yet to cruise with us and we're not feeling guilty at all. Heh, heh. Okay, maybe a bit, but perhaps we'll be able to get them on the Dream in the future...

Braycon--We are arriving into LAX from Boston on Friday and are still trying to finalize our transportation, I have been looking at other threads and have started a conversation with DK Livery Services, for 8 of us, two cars from the Airport to DL, From DL to the port and from the Port to LAX we are looking at $518, which sounds high, but that is two cars and for 8 people, gratuity included. I will keep you posted if I find anything else out there. We are getting close, so I want to wrap this up soon.

Thanks, Shawn! I appreciate you sharing any information you come up with. I don't want to break the bank, but I do want to be sure it doesn't take four hours to get from place-to-place (a challenge in L.A., I know) and that we do actually get where we're going when we need to be there. We don't want to be arriving at the port on Sunday late...
Good luck with the big group - I'm sure it's goint to be a great time!
Again, thanks!

Hi Skylynx,
Just saw your posting today. I'm subscribed to this thread but I havn't been getting emails when people post to it :confused3 We booked our Palo dinner for Day 4. We also booked the Palo Brunch on Day 3 and the Palo High Tea on Day 7. I'm really looking forward to the Brunch and Tea because all the information I have seen on the DIS Boards has been very positive and if it is anything like the dinners, which we have done several times in the past, the food should be incredible. Have you done the Brunch or Tea before? We are splurging for the 1st time and getting a couples massage on Day 2 - thought it would be a great way to relax and start our cruise. It certainly isn't an inexpensive splurge, but I have been wanting to do this since our 1st cruise and just decided that this would be the cruise to do it on. We are also doing the Cabo Dolphin Encounter on Day 6. We did the Sea Lion Excursionon on our last 3-Day Bahamas cruise and loved it. The sea lions were so cute and the pictures we purchased were great. I thought we would try the Dolphin Encounter this time since we had such a great experience with the Sea Lions. Except for Day 5, we have something booked each day of the cruise except for the day we set sail and the day we return. I like having something special to look forward to each day. I'm so excited about this cruise. With the busy schedules and stress of the holiday season, I know I will really need the rest and relaxation. Do you know if the increased cost for the Palo Dinner, Brunch and High Tea that becomes effective in January, will affect our reservations? Since we booked these reservations before the price increase goes into effect, maybe it won't be applicable to us. If it is, at least it isn't an astronomical price increase.
I wonder how full the ship is now that we are only about 2 1/2 months out? With all the scary things happening lately in Mexico, I wonder if people are avoiding the Mexican Cruises. If the ship isn't full to capacity there might be options to upgrade available on Port Day. We are going to ask - can't hurt. If the ship isn't completely full, they may have discounts for upgrading. I would be willing to do it if the upgrade cost isn't too much. Right now, we have a Deluxe Inside Stateroom (Category 10A) but I would love to have a room with a view or a balcony room if the cost wasn't too much. We have never had anything but a Standard or Deluxe Standard Room and it would be great to finally get something a little better.
If you are still interesed in getting assigned to the same table for dinner, we received our OFFICIAL Disney Letter in October and we have been assigned to the 8:30 p.m. Dining Time. You mentioned that one of us could contact Disney closer to the sail day and ask for the table assignment to be linked to our Reservation #s. Probably contacting them in late January would be OK. Just let me know before then.

Please add us to the fish extender list as well, we are getting excited about the cruise. February will be here before we know it. We are staying at the HOJO a couple of nights before and the night after the cruise. Thinking about a limo for transfers to surprise the kids, for our family of 5 it wouldn't be much more than a shuttle or a cab.

Getting pretty excited about this upcoming trip...Santa Claus came early to our house and brought me a contract extension on my job until at least April!
Our waitlist at DVC came through, so we get to spend both nights pre-cruise at the Grand Californian villas, with the Saturday before at Disneyland. We opted to skip the whole rental car deal and will take the Disneyland Express shuttle from LAX...not sure it would be cheaper for a large family, but it sure is for the two of us...We also just bit the bullet and paid for Disney transport to the port from the Grand Californian and back to LAX from the port. It cost less than I thought and eliminated all the hassle of the car rental and parking fees. We always go that route at Canaveral, but it's not so easy on the west coast.
It's cold and snowy here in Chicagoland, and we're already dreaming of our cruise and lying around on various horizontal surfaces on board, snoozing!

hi, I came over to your meet group to see where folks were flying into....as my plans just changed from driving to flying.
I see lots of questions being asked about where to stay and how to get to DL area. The disneyland section of this website has lots of info.
lots of folks LOVE howard johnson's, walking distance (aka HOJO) and a great kid pool area. They give AP rates and entertainmentn book rates. About a 7 minute walk.
Disney Resort Express, owned by Grayline, has a bus service to Anaheim area from SNA and LAX....RT prices from the web if pre-bought for famiy of 5 run like 99 bucks or so. There are coupons on the Orange County Chamber of Commerce site for 5 bucks off if you don't pre-purchase.
I used American Limo on one trip where we had 6 folks and arrived too late for the Express bus...120 one-way and I paid 20 more for a grocery store stop. It was less t han SuperShuttle would have been from LAX to Embassy Suites.
Anyway, visit the disneyland area of the site, all kinds of reviews of hotels and a fantastic FAQ area about the area at the very top of the first page.

Getting pretty excited around here! Just around a month to go. Room booked at Crowne Plaza (not for the deal that others did) for the night before, so feels good to have that and the flights arranged.
Originally had our flights booked with the Disney package, but were getting nervous of what the chosen flight times were going to be. So we cancelled that out and rebooked the flights separately.

You guys are packing already?! Actually, now that I think of it, probably not a bad idea since it's -28 (with the wind) here and I doubt I'll need warm weather clothes any time soon :)
I need to find something for formal and semi-formal nights...of course I'll probably procrastinate so long that I'll run out of time and have to bring the same two dresses I did last time.
More importantly; I need a Fish Extender. Should probably make that a top priority  Anyone else in for the FE Exchange?

Yes packing already and good thing I discovered ds 14 grew out of every pair of shorts and bathing suits that he was wearing this past summer. Buying shorts in February in Manitoba is not easy. Thank god for online shopping ! Now is a good time to dress shop as the holiday dresses that are left are on clearance!

I don't think we will participate in the FE exchange, since the babies are so young, but if I get the chance, I am going to make up so that our family (in four other rooms) can pass notes and such!

Hello everyone. This will be the fourth Disney Cruise for me and DH, the second with the kids DS (17) & DD (15, will be 16 at cruise time). We are wondering if there are any other kids around their ages going on this cruise.
Hi..... I have a DS just turning 18 the week of sailing and a DS 14 so I'm glad to see a couple of same-aged teens!

Hello Everyone!
Our family is flying in from Calgary, Alberta Canada just a short flight down from the freezing cold. This our third DC and loved everyone of them, we have also booked a Mediterian DC this August. Safe to say we are hooked on DC.
We fly into LAX on Feb.10 and plan on staying near Universal Stuidios, we will spend some time at Universal and of course it the Grove for some shopping.
Our family will leave LAX on February 13 at 10:45 am and travel to the ship, our plan is to do this by limo. It’s not expensive at all, we have extra room, so if you need a ride let me know!
We have 4 people in our family Carrie (41) Lorne (43) Cassidy (15) and Logan (8).
It would be great if we can chat more!

This is our third cruise and first time with a Fish extender, I have searched a few threads about the fish extender protocol if you will and instead of reading thousands of posts, I thought I would toss it out to our group.
1. What are some neat FE gifts that people have rec'd?
2. Are there different gifts for the adults taking part?
3. Is there a schedule for delivering your FE gift?
4. How many times to you make a delivery?
If I have missed a question that I should have asked, please feel free to comment.
Thanks

Just an update. We have a room assignment # 5018. seems like a nice room. We are flying in on Feb 12 and staying at the doubletree ($81 total from priceline). I believe we will go to stone island on our own in mazatlan, Do a whale cruise through a private company in Cabo, and not to sure yet what to do in PV. We then have 3 days planned for Disneyland. Seems like a lot of time taking the boys out of school but this will be the last time since the 15yo DS will be in high school next year so we wont be taking him out any more.
I have never done a FE exchange if someone is over this or can clue me in I would be greatful. I have read some about them but this will be our first time doing one.
I am in the process of arranging transportation. I believe we are thinking about using supper Shuttle. It looks about $65 each way (x3). Still cheaper than a car.

Hi everyone, we are 2 families coming from Calgary. 5 kids in all ( 12, 9, 7, 3, 3). This is our first cruise so super excited! Just FYI I booked transport from near LAX to the port with Saferide Transport for the nine of us in a limo for $130, then we are using a 9 passenger van to get to Disneyland from the port and it was $95. Going back from Disneyland in the van is $120 I believe. About the same price as a shuttle, but private!

I certainly don't have the time to do homemade gifts at this point...can anyone give me a simple rundown? I know the kids would love it..I just need someone to convince me!:)

Thank you for the referral to Safe Ride Transport. They are offering the best deal that we could find. As with you, we are getting a Private Van that seats 9 people, we have 8 (4 adults and 4 kids ages 5, 4, 2, and 1). Here are the details we got today
LAX to disneyland hotel: $110.00
Disneyland Hotel to Port: $90.00
Port to LAX: $90.00
We need car seats for all four of our kids which is usually $5.00 per seat, they are giving us all four seats for $10.00 total on each trip, which are not added in the total above.
If you are interested, call Eina at 310-868-4730 (her direct line) and mention that you were referred by someone on DISboards.
One more thing checked off my To do list.

Glad I could help! That is exactly the deal we got and I was thrilled :yay: So much cheaper than Disney transport and no extra stops like with a shuttle! We booked a Limo from our hotel near LAX (we arrive the night before) to the port just to see the kids faces when they walk out of the hotel! Being our first cruise we are doing what we can to make it special! I am starting to get the feeling I'll be booking the next one while onboard!! :goodvibes

Hey all,
Couple things on Fish Extenders. I see that someone else posted some questions too.
We just finished making ours on Sunday. Honestly, I did a no-sew method that I found on one of the DIS boards.
disboards.com/showpost.php?p=30302583&postcount=609
After buying some fabric, it honestly took me maybe an hour to do it. It's done by using heming tape (an ironing method). Actually really impressed how it turned out! I may not be able to sew, but turns out I can iron well! lol :thumbsup2
The question I have for the roll call of people already is, are there anymore people participating in Fish Extenders? And what do we do for people that are able to pull off an upgrade when they check in??
I'm not doing home-made gifts. I wish I was that talented, but I'm not. I have done pretty well finding Disney related items, so more of a goodie-bag or stocking kind of thing from us. pirate:
Hopefully I've talked more people into it!?!?! Looks like we're at about 11 families in so far. :woohoo:

Ok, now I'm seeing it...
Very disappointed, not that they are concerned about safety in Maz., but that we go to Cabo twice...
I would have rather that they had another port, Manzanillo, La Paz. Cabo's water is cold...

Hopefully they move our reservation over....if we don't cancel completely.

For the upgrade at port, I've seen people put a note on their previous door saying that they're now in a new cabin.

We are going to take our chances with adventures off the boat and not book until we are on board. We are thinking about the Paradise beach adventure in PV, we are still up in the air about Cabo. We wanted to zip line, but a 60 min drive into nowhere is starting to make us think again, I am sure we are over thinking things. I hear that the water in cabo is cold this time of year. We are also hoping that they add a few new options now that we are going back twice.

I just added you the Roll Call List and it shows you as participating in the FE Exchange. :thumbsup2 Once you know your room number, please let me know so I can add that. After you experience a Disney Cruise, I would love to know how you compare it to your past experiences on NCL and Princess. I have never done any other cruise but Disney. I know you will have a great time on the cruise. I also heard that the Mazatlan port stop has been canceled and I was quite bummed. However, since then I have spoken to people who have traveled to Mexico several times before and they told me that Cabo is, by far, a better port to stop in than Mazatlan. I feel bad for anybody who booked an excursion in Mazatlan. I hope Disney will be able to arrange more, and maybe different, excursions in Cabo to make up for it. I still havn't heard if those people (myself included) who booked the Palo Brunch for Tuesday will have their reservations honored and automatically moved to Thursday. I hope so because my DH and I were really looking forward to it.

Disney 2010 thanks for the update, this will help in planning. We are going to do the whale watching. not sure if we will do anything else in Cabo or stay on the ship for our 2nd day. mazatlan was our beach day so if I can not find a good beachy thing to do I am sure the ships pool will do nicely. I am afraid that cabo will be to cold for the beach so I may change our PV day to a beach day. Who knows.

We're doing the whale watch on the second Cabo day, too...will need to figure out what to do now on the first visit! We were some of the lucky ones who were not messed up by the itinerary change...in fact we like it better! We're at Palo for Valentine's day and would have had both Palo brunch and High Tea the following day (talk about overindulgence!) Sounds like DCL will just bump all the reservations to the other at sea day. Plus I kind of like the sea day breaking up the port days. I understand that is not the case for everyone and there is some disappointment. Hopefully there will be time and some added excursions to help make up for that.
I really feel for the people of Mazatlan whose economy stands to take a devastating hit...Mexico can't afford to let one destination after another get dropped from cruise ship itineraries due to uncontrollable violence. They need a superhero, and fast!

I suspect with the change to the itinerary that many people will be moving reservations around...but even if they don't a percentage of tables are held for booking on board. You will get instruction in your day one navigator about where to go and when to book Palo reservation or try to change your dinning time or rotation. Its in one of the night clubs close to boarding time.
Good luck. pixiedust:

My DH and I have a Palo Dinner booked on the 16th too and we already suspected that it would be Pirate Night and booked that evening anyway because we enjoy going to each of the 3 Dinner Venues on the first 3 nights, then having a break by eating at Palo on the 4th night and then back to 3 more nights at the 3 Dinner Venues before the cruise is over. I don't really mind missing the Pirate Night theme in the restuarants much. The only thing I forgot about when I make our reservation at 8:30 p.m. was how long a dinner at Palo takes. I hope we can be finished in time to see the fireworks. Does anyone know what time the fireworks normally happen?

Are you sure about 2/15 (Tuesday) being Formal Night? There is another Thread about the change to the Itenerary and I swear I saw a posting for our 2/13th cruise from somebody stating that he/she spoke with DisneyCruise Line and was told that the Formal Night was on 2/14 (Monday). I hope you are right because I really didn't want Formal Night to be on Valentines Day since I have a RED Cocktail dress I want to wear expecially for Valentines Day and if it turns out that Valentines Day is Formal Night I won't be able to wear it because I have a full-length gown to wear on Formal Night.

Is it too late to participate in the Fish Extender thing?
I have added your family to Roll Call List and indicated that you want to participate in the FE. :thumbsup2 I'm sure it is not too late to participate but I am not coordinating the FE Exchange; I am just keeping a current running list of everyone that is participating. Perhaps those of you who are participating can let Allison know if she is not too late to participate.:flower3:

You were right - I just got off the phone with a CM for DisneyCruise Line and she advised me that Formal Night will be on Day #3 (2/15 - Tuesday) :goodvibes Also, for those of you who have a reservation booked for the PALO Brunch on Day #3 (2/15 - Tuesday), the CM told me her supervisors were all in a meeting right then making a final decision on how to handle that situation. Hopefully, they will decide to honor everyone's reservations and just move them to Day #5 (2/17 - Thursday). She told me to call back tomorrow and she was sure she would be able to tell me what the final decision is. I will be sure to post the decision once I find out what it is.:thumbsup2

Nope, never done a FE before :) I think a cut off of this weekend would be for the best, then it would give everyone enough time to assemble their gifts.
I've put the spreadsheet up on google docs here. I realize you are not the "organizer" just the OP of the meet thread but I am curious if a dis meet has been planned. I have read other groups do this.
For those of you organizing FE's
I am on the fence about the FE's and now see the cut off :)
I'm worried about how much work it will be. Do FE gifts get delivered daily by everyone or one time per family? Does a schedule get created? I know my kids would get a kick out of the whole thing but finding time to make an FE and buying gifts may not be in the cards at this point.

From what I've read most people will do up one gift from their stateroom to everyone on the list, or sometimes a joint item for the adults and a separate gift to each of the children. There's probably ambitious folks out there who do small daily items but I'm not going to be one of them :lmao: (Except maybe valentines day...since I think DS is going to miss the drop off at school he may decide the ship is a good alternative)
To get an idea of numbers there was 27 adults and 25 children as of yesterday.
I have no problems making up a schedule for drop offs if it makes things easier for people. It is a vacation after all :)

I think that would be neat, and if it would give anyone who gets a last minute room # change a chance to let everyone know. Our previous cruise we got new room numbers a week and a half before we sailed, so it can happen!

Personally, I'd prefer not to have a schedule for dropping off FE gifts. But, if I'm in the minority, could I request being scheduled on or before the Pirate Night. (Giving out something that lights up.) :sunny:

Sorry, it is so frustrating when it doesn't work, I have been having problems with the DCL website for months.:confused3 I just logged into my reservation under my cruise plans where you have the choice to book excursions, spa, palo, etc. Chose "book excursions" then it brought up the list of excursions. Chose the one I wanted and the family members, then the next screen brought up the possible dates and times, which I was then able to confirm. It took me about 2 hours and several tries to get it to actually work without locking up however.. I am thinking it was just a lucky glitch that I was able to get in and get them booked tonight because the CM I spoke to on the phone said they were still working on it and it might not be available for a few more days. Basically they told me that the info is online but it comes and goes. Makes no sense to me, but I am technology challenged anyway. Hope it works for you soon.

I did get one Feb 16th show up but until you select members there is no way of knowing which dates are going to be available....
I give up. I really wanted to see if I could reverse our excursions so that we have them booked for the 1st time we are there and then we may feel more comfortable planning a beach day on our own for the 2nd day.
Anyone venturing out in Cabo on your own? Where are you going?

I just had to keep selecting family members in various combinations until I got it to work. Hope it works out for you! We will probably venture out in Cabo on our own, go to Medano Beach and wander around town, it sounds pretty safe. I did what you were hoping to do, moved the excursions to the first day so we have the 2nd day open for exploring on our own. I am a little leery of the whole process, since I have heard of people making changes only to have them disappear from the website.:scared1:At this point, I will just be glad to get away from the foot or so of snow on the ground here and be in the warm sunshine whether I am on the ship or on an excursion, can't wait. :yay: Best of luck!

I'm unable to book anything for the 1st Cabo day either..... ran up to my parents at lunch and tried since you all mentioned it.... and have been playing around for over an hour now that I'm at home..... no go.
Maybe it's just certain excursions that are working so far? The boys and granpa want to do sports fishing and the rest of us are just looking for whale watching...... I did change our dolphin day to the 2nd stop so will be praying we don't get stuck on the boat due to waves.
I hope it works soon.... I don't want to spend my time on day 1 in the excurstion reservation line with the the hundreds of people (not on dis) who will probably have no clue of the change until they arrive......

I feel better that I'm not alone! I tried again just now. Tried several excursions and none for day 1 :sad2:
Feeling good about a family beach day though. I would just rather do it on day 2 :)

Nope, never done a FE before :) I think a cut off of this weekend would be for the best, then it would give everyone enough time to assemble their gifts.
I've put the spreadsheet up on google docs here. (https://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=0ArJIQK3r95MWdGJQYnUxdmh3XzJjRkFUTU40aXRzR 0E&hl=en) It's public right now, but if anyone would like actual names I'll collect those and add them in and then lock it to invite only. Also let me know if there's any errors :)
Thank-you so much for organizing this. party:

15 days!!!
I have a few questions....
1) Does anyone know about tendering in Cabo?
I'm curious how long before arrival people start lining up, then how long to wait in line and tender in.
We don't get to Cabo the first time till 11:30am, which to me is late...plus we have early dining so have to get back on the ship by 4pm at the latest...
Then the 2nd day we have to leave really early...like 1:00pm...
Just tryying to figure out time frames.
2) What time do they start boarding at the port? I want to get on the boat early for lunch, Palo ressies etc., but I don't feel like waiting around for hours with the kids...
Enjoy the weekend!

I know nothing about tendering except that dcl excusions and concierge guest get priority tending before passengers venturing out on their own

This is a tough one as it is formal night. we are in the same boat "pun intended" :) My older kids wil love the late start to our day. I think I will have everyone's clothes out and ready so we can just hop into them quick. Maybe try to get photos done after dinner. If formal night is not important to you an alternat dinning choice is an option ( I feel this is what my family will want....could be our 1st disagreement)
Then the 2nd day we have to leave really early...like 1:00pm...

Boarding usually starts around 12:00. No exact time as they will board as soon as they are ready. If you arrive at port at boarding time you will have a short wait. If you arrive around 1:00 you will just walk right on
Enjoy the weekend!
A quick look at some old navigator shows changes to dining/palo starting at 12 on some sailings and 1 on others
We will go early to try to get a port upgrade. I'm still trying to figure out what time to get there to be near the front of the line without being in the way of the families still disembarking. Hopefully those returning tomorrow will have more info for us

Great idea to lay out the formal clothes before heading into Cabo.
I'm thinking 11:00am might be a good port time for us, leave our house at 10:00am, that way we can coffee, breakfast and not rush to the port to wait around.
Another question about lunch, a lot of people say they like to eat at Parrot Cay for lunch on embarkation. Why? Is it menu order or is buffet the only option? What are the other choices?
I am getting so excited...had the kids try on pirate costumes last nite and I bought 3 bathing suits yesterday...

Parrot Cay is still a buffet, but they will show you to a table where you can stash your stuff and then go get food, they'll also get your drink order. Beach Blanket Buffet you have to find your own table etc, but you can sit outside if it's nice...which I kind of liked.

There are 15 confirmed staterooms participating, 29 adults and 30 children. I'm waiting to hear from two others so it could be a total of 17 staterooms participating; 33 adults and 33 children.

I hope to be able to upgrade at the port but will only do it if it isn't too expensive. I've never cruised in any room other than a standard inside stateroom or the deluxe inside stateroom. It would be so nice to have a veranda just once. I would really use it on this cruise since it is just DH and myself - no kids. Oh well, I have bigger worries, like our plane getting delayed and causing us to miss the cruise entirely. But, trying not to worry too much about that - it's hard, I'm a worrier:rolleyes:

Question about FE's.....I have started to sort my stuff and realize that this plan will require an additional suitcase:scared1: Oh well my kids will love it. dd is already trying to lay claim to every item I have :rotfl:
Will we post names on the spread sheet so we can sort items or will we just label them "boy 9" etc. My vote would be for names?

One thing about boarding and lunch is they kind of corral you to where they want you to be. If you have never been on-board it feels like you have to follow the crowd...you don't. Last time we had a plan to swim but "went were we were told to go" which is easy to do if you don't know your way around the ship. My family will arrive with bathing suits either on or in our carry-ons. if it is a nice day in LA we will skip a sit down lunch and go to the pool and grab a burger or pizza and some fruit. There is plenty of time to eat and the pools should be quiet at this time. We also found Parrot Cay tricky to navigate with our carryons as we had a couple of them as well as a case of water.
We are beyond excited as well as we finish up the final details of our trip planning :yay::yay::cheer2::cheer2::banana::banana:

Is there anything special on the buffet on embarkation? Maybe I heard seafood?
Are the pools crowded on other days? I would guess cold and windy on sea days.
Is it Cove Cafe that is also by the pools ? Somewhere I heard you could get sandwiches and salads?
Sorry for all the ?'s, first timer here and feeling overwhelmed and excited!!:woohoo:

When we got on board we were SOOOO excited we just wanted to explore and see our room. The food was secondary! I don't remember seafood but I don't really remember what we ate. I remember buying my drink of the day with the souvenir glass :lmao: and I am certain that Parrot Cay had a different day where the features for lunch were seafood. DH brought me calamari and shrimp to my poolside table:love:
Our only cruise was a 4 night. The pools were busy but as my kids are a little older and it was fine....busy but still fun
On our sea days the captain cruised slowly and the water was super calm. Some people spotted dolphins that day. It was sunny and warm. Windier in the evening as it got later and we picked up speed.
Cove cafe is the adults only coffee place ( at least I think its adults only) they have pastries and snacks.
Goofy s Gallery has sandwiches, paninis fruit etc. It is on deck 9. Near GG is also the ice-cream station and around the corner is the beverage station.
I am more that happy to answer anything I know:) Just reminds me of all the fun we will have:cloud9:

Names would be good to know, that way if the FE doesn't have any names on it you could label the gift. Our FE will probably not have names on it...unless I find some cool iron on stuff. I'll see what I can gather from the thread, but if everyone could PM me (or email) your stateroom names and ages that would be super helpful. Then I can send out the list via email.
The extra suitcase will come in handy for all the stuff that you'll be bringing back :)

I think there was seafood on the embarkation buffet, I don't eat it but I think my husband found shrimp.
I looked through our pictures from the other cruise and the pool was crowded on the sea days, but the kids didn't mind. There was only a handful on the first day but that was because it was slightly above freezing (cold and windy the first and second days, but got better as we headed south). Not sure what to expect this time though.
Cove Cafe opens up to the adult only pool deck (I think), they had treats in there...possibly sandwhiches. The sports bar (Diversions?) had pub food later on in the afternoon (chips & salsa, wings etc) too. I'm not sure we ever made it at the right time to try though.

Does anyone have any idea on how to let the others in the FE group know if we get an upgrade and change our room # at the port?
I think a group meet would be nice however I am not going to commit to one. On our last cruise (4/10) I was desiginated to bring a variety of items to our meet and only one other person showed up. I was let with lanyards and beads, and a little disappointed at sail away (when we to meet).

I was wondering if someone who knew they were staying put could have a confirmation list for the first day?
I also considered putting a note near my original rooms fish but what if someone takes that room and removes my note.
My third thought was taking a pic of my FE and begging you all to search for me if I score an upgrade I know I will be on the 8th floor. However I really don't know how to post pictures and have been too lazy to figure out the whole photo bucket thing.

I have a Cat 5 Veranda room. I know people like purplejewel will arrive a port after me and try to snag a great deal on a veranda ( I tried and was unsuccessful on my last cruise)
So although it may stay empty there is also a good chance someone will move up into it.:)

I was thinking the same thing, if we get an upgrade it will be from cat 4 to a suite, so either way we would be found on deck 8. I don't know how to post pictures of my FE either.:confused3 Some groups on the MR trip reports were meeting at the terminal at around 11 am on embarkation day, at which time they might know if they had an upgrade, but not sure everyone would be at the port by then. Guess I may just try the note by the original door and hope it is not removed. Better yet, maybe we can all get our upgrades and one of my fellow DISers can get our verandah room:thumbsup2

So how much do the port upgrades usually cost compared to booking ahead?
Any ideas? porthole (9A) to a veranda?
I thought that Disney would sometimes call people to offer upgrades for a price...
I doubt Disney has time right now with all of the itineray changes.
I wish someone from the 1/21 MR would hurry up and post their Navigators. If someone here sees the navigators online, please let me know....I want to try to plan out the days for wine tastings, galley tours, etc.
Oh, TaniaU, you mentioned wings at the Pub...wow, that would be great...Wings and a salad for lunch would be yummy!
Are we sure that Formal night is, night #3, Cabo day?
I read on another MR, 1/31, that Formal is Night #2...I would prefer that so we don't have to rush back to the ship from Cabo.

It's tough to get confirmation of exact port upgrade costs. Right now it would cost you $600 to upgrade so my guess would be around $200 give or take $50....just a guess From what I read that estimates 2/3-1/2 of the original cost.....pixiedust:Good Luck

Greetings All! This is my first post and our first cruise! We are "landlocked" Disney World veterans - hence the reason our 1st cruise was Disney - but new to the sea. I have lurked for some time on these boards and want to thank all of you for such great information helpful to a first time cruiser! We will be on board with 2 adults (my wife and I), my 2 sons (15 and 10) and my daughter (7). We are so excited but nervous too. We're praying the above average snowy weather here is calm for us to get out on time.
One question I had was about port adventures and the itinerary changes. I saw it talked earlier but wondering if anyone has any updates on if we can can book port adventures on Cabo Day 1 yet? I can't seem to do it online - the ones that show say sold out - but are they sold out or just not available for booking yet? Was anyone able to call and get something booked or are you only able to do this online?
Thanks for any help and looking forward to enjoying a great time at sea.

I'm still not seeing any excursions for Cabo Day #1 either online. Keep trying, I guess!
My sis-in-law just got back from a week in Cabo. It was warm, not overly hot. Warm enough by around 10am to go out with just a beach cover-up, although the locals would be wearing jackets. Good golfing weather, if that's your thing. She said the evenings were cool.
Canadians ... Our currency was readily exchanged so no need to bring extra US$ to Cabo.

I resisted the urge to complain yesterday but if you find me on-board :drinking1:drinking1:drinking1:drinking1: I will blame my pent up frustration about this.
When I tried yesterday it seemed some of the excursions were available for day one but not all. The only way to know which was which was to go through the whole booking process with each. It seemed I could do a Mexican outback adventure. The dolphin swim was now full for day one and available day two.
We have whale watching and fishing booked for day 2 and would like to switch to day one but neither is showing available day one. It may be that dcl is still working on confirming available excursions:rolleyes2

On letting people know where you are if you upgrade at port...I highly doubt my mom and dad are going to switch rooms; I can give them a dry erase board and then if someone does upgrade you could write it there and I'll do an update note the first night. Just have to see if they know their room number yet
I'm almost done making our Fish Extender. Knowing how to use a ruler and cut a straight line would have been advantageous. Also, a person could make a fortune selling plain buttons in Calgary.

I'm almost done making our Fish Extender. Knowing how to use a ruler and cut a straight line would have been advantageous. Also, a person could make a fortune selling plain buttons in Calgary.
That would be great!! Thanks again for taking care of this:dance3:
I was worried about throwing together an FE as I am the least crafty person in the world...I hear you on the straight line with a ruler challenge!
Found some felt Valentine themes bags and attached them and it looks pretty cute...added some rinestone letters and we are set:yay:
I truly thought it might end up being a little sad :lmao:
Now to pack everything;)

Good evening...
I finished shopping for out FE exchange. I am doing a Valentines Day theme and will try to deliver on the 14th :)
More questions from the DCL newbies:
1) At the port, do we check in out luggage with the porter or at the DCL counter?
at the airport we never check luggage with a porter, so this would be new for us.
2) On disembarkation, do we have to leave the ship at 7am or whatever time we're assigned? Can we sleep in a bit, grab some buffet and walk off the ship ? I am not an early morning person, at all!
I think that is all for tonight, I'm sure I'll have more questions in the morning...I go to bed thinking about DCL..

More questions from the DCL newbies:
1) At the port, do we check in out luggage with the porter or at the DCL counter? We will have to see exactly how the LA port is set up but I'm sure it will be close to Florida where the porters meet you at the curb and grab your luggage. They grabbed and tossed ours so quickly that I didn't even realize they were porters and we should tip them. It just seemed that this was the process to check our bags. We took a car service so between gathering the kids and paying our driver the bags were gone in an instant. Make sure they know which bags you are taking carrying on

Generally you have to be off by 9. Out of your room by 8. We were scheduled for a 6:45 breakfast that none of us wanted to get up for so we left our room at 8 and went to the buffet and then disembarked....So sleep in? I guess a little.
I think that is all for tonight, I'm sure I'll have more questions in the morning...I go to bed thinking about DCL..
Also on the last morning if your stateroom host(ess) thinks you have overslept they will bang on the door.

Good to know about disembarkation; I know lots of people like to say goodbye to their servers one last time, but being up and ready for a 7:00 sit down breakfast is a little too much for me on the last day. Especially when we're just going to be sitting in the dumpy LAX terminal 2 until noon.
Speaking of flying out of LAX; WestJet will be flying into John Wayne airport starting late spring. That'll be nice for trips to Disneyland :)
30 degrees below zero this morning...that was fun.

We're in a bit of a cold spell right in Orange County right now - upper 60's for the next week - but I expect that seems downright summery to you! :goodvibes
I'm hoping it warms up a bit more. It was beautiful last week!

Sorry your last DIS Meet went so badly.:confused3 Sometimes people have good intentions and then they get excited once they are on-board, they realize that there is another function they just can't miss or, if you are traveling with kids, the kids don't want to be dragged to a "boring, adult meeting" when pools are beckening:laughing: I would like to see some Navigators from the 1st MR Cruise that just returned yesterday and see what activities are scheduled the first afternoon before deciding if I can attend a DIS Meet. I have been on other cruises where they have the Disney Vacation Club (DVC) Meeting on the 1st afternoon and my DH and I never miss that meeting - not only do we learn about new DVC incentives, but they give away alot of neat DVC stuff. If everything lines up though, I would love to meet some fellow DISers.

Kevin
Welcome Aboard!:goodvibes I added your family to the Roll Call List on the front page of this Thread - hope you don't mind. I'm just so excited about this cruise and I like to keep everything updated, plus I'm a bit ...Retentive:rolleyes: so once I started the Roll Call List there was no stopping me. I'm with you on the praying that snow doesn't keep us from missing the cruise. My DH and I are flying from VA. Really wishing now that we had decided to fly in a day early.

Hey! For those of you who had Palo Brunch reserved for Day #3 and were wondering how Disney was going to handle it now that Day #3 is a Port Day, I just went on-line and checked "My Cruise Activities" and they have changed my Palo Brunch Reservation from Day #3 to Day #5. I am sure they are doing that to everyone's Palo Brunch Reservations for that day. I'm so relieved:cloud9: I was really worried that they would cancel my reservation. I have never done the Palo Brunch before and was so looking forward to it. Now I can still look forward to it. Maybe since they have finally gotten this issue resolved they will update the on-line website to allow people to make Cabo Excursion Reservations for Day #3.

You're right!!!
Our Day 3 Palo Brunch is now showing for Sea Day #5.
I'm still not sure if I want to do brunch @ Palo. I guess we will have to wait and see the Navigator for Day #5 to see if it conflicts with something we want to do. I kind of wish we could do dinner @ Palo instead.

Switched our 2nd Cabo day to the 1st day. Gives us a later start and time to get back and dress for dinner. What excursions did you sign up for?
Anyone else whale watching on the 1st Cabo day?

Yipee..... I booked day 1 of Cabo finally as well! Mom, my youngest, and I are whale watching while the older boys go sport fishing with Grandpa...... then we are swimming with dolphins on the 2nd day (wanted later in the day so we didn't freeze so early in the morning in the water.... just hope we make it to shore).
Now...... to figure out how to get my clothes to fit around all the FE gifts...... I think another suitcase may be necessary lol!

vblossom, thanks for the heads up! Yep, we were also able to book an excursion now for the first day in Cabo. We are going to do the beach resort day, since we already had Dolphins booked in PV and Whale Watching booked for the second day in Cabo. I've been reading tendering in Cabo was quite a wait the first week, so hopefully they have the kinks worked out for us.
Purplejewel, no problem adding us to the roll call list. We are indeed flying in a day early just to be safe. Besides, the kids have never been to LA, so we plan to drive around and sightsee a little. Long range forecast looks promising at least for Cincy, so keep our fingers crossed.

We are doing the "Cabo Resort Pool Getaway" on the 1st Cabo day. Is that the same as you? There are two excursions with similar names. Ours is the resort with the big huts at the tip of the penninsula.
In PV, we're doing the Pirate Sail/Snorkel. pirate: Can't wait to hit the beaches! :cool2:

Awesome Those are our exact plans for Day 1. DH is doing the fishing and the kids and I will whale watch.
People on excursions get priority tenders so we should have no major issues. On our non-excursion day we will just let the crowd clear before we try to leave as we will be in no rush to get anywhere.
In PV we are all Zip-lining :thumbsup2

I love to hear all the excursion plans..
Does anyone have any suggestions for dining rotations?
Right now I requested PTA, so pirate night we're in Parrot Cay, but I'm a newbie.
Do they serve the same food at all the restaurants each night or does it vary?
Hopefully someone will upload menus also.
