Haven't seen any threads for this western cruise.
We're going with my brother and his kids, mother and mother in law (total of 15 of us). Getting 3 1 bedroom suites.
Excitement is starting to build! Anyone else?

We are booked on that cruise also. We are going as a group also. Since it is vacation week I expect the cruise to be booked. What deck are you on? We are on deck 6 inside cabin. Our friends are staying in a balcony room on deck 6. Our family members are husband, 2 sons, 12 and 9, and me. Can't wait to go. We are from long island NY.

Hi fellow 2/15/03 cruisers!!! I have been excited and counting down the days since we got back from the February eastern Magic cruise this year. I've had this Western one booked since September 2001!
Originally it was going to be only my daughter and myself, but just recently my mom, my sister and her family are going and managed to book staterooms just down the hall. We are located on deck 7 aft.
This is a great time of year to go. This will now be our fourth Disney cruise during Presidents week. I can't wait either!!!

Yes, there are alot of east coast people this week. Most all the schools are out that week. My daughter, on our past 3 cruises has met many new friends from all over the tri-state area and has kept in touch with them. In fact many of them are going again in 2003.
I can't wait!!:sunny:

Count us in, too! We're also another group--the four of us, plus MIL and BIL and his wife and 3 DDs. It'll be our first cruise (for the four of us, anyway), and we're all very excited ALREADY! We knew it would be booked quickly, but we couldn't even GET a 1 bedroom (for BIL et al). We have 3 rooms on deck 6, the 4 of us in 1 and MIL/BIL et al in connecting staterooms. We've pretty much decided on which excursions (I'm a type A vacation planner!), but we're going to be playing most ship stuff by ear (i.e., I refuse to lose sleep over dining rotations and stuff). We'll see you all there!:bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc

Hi Buzznbelle's mom!
Since we have done the Eastern route 2 times, the second time we did not do any excursions. This will be our first western and I have been trying to make up my mind on the excursions since they were first posted on this board. Which ones are you doing? I definately won't be doing the spa this time around, but I would highly recommend Palo's brunch! I'll be up there making those ressies!

Hi Again,
MooCow, what part of Connecticut are you from? My DH & I are going with our 11 year old son. My Mom is also coming & she has her own inside stateroom on Deck 6 & we have an outside with Veranda also on deck 6. I had to book ours through DVC (we are members) we were on deck 7 on out last two trips. I chose 6 because I could get two rooms closer together. We did the Eastern in Oct 2001 & the Bahama 4 night last November during Thanksgiving (son's birthday). We will be flying down the Wednesday before and spending three days at Boardwalk till we sail. We are not going on an excursion in Key West; I understand you can walk to the art galleries and shops right from the ship. Caymen we are doing 7 mile beach and still undecided about Cozumel. We are also on the late dinner seating as we did the early one on the first cruise and found it to be too early for us. Keep me posted on all of your thoughts & plans.

Hi VJMorrell,
We live in Norwalk. Originally it was going to be just my 16 year old daughter and myself, we went alone February of this year. But my mom, my sister, her husband, and their 3 girls, 6, 8, 11 (I think?) decided to go just recently, and lucked out to get cabins on deck 7 just down the hall from us.
We all have the early dinner, but I really am leaning towards changing it. It is way too early, especially now since it looks like the dinners are most likely going to be moved up for good. With this new itinerary, I really don't want to cut my day short. I have seen the shows all 3 times each, so missing them except for Disney Dreams I'm not concerned about. I'm sure we will come to a decision by the end of this month.
The only excursion so far planned is the trolley in Key West where you can get on and off. Swimming with the Sting Rays sounds fun, as does the Jeep excursion.
My daughter and I are flying down the day before. This year, our cruise in February we had to be down in New York at the Airport by 4:00am, I was so paranoid I would not wake up I barely slept at all that night. Needless to say day one was like a blurr I was so exhausted. I am hoping Disney will put us up at the Airport Hyatt, however if is full they said they would transport us from whatever hotel they put us in. All the rest of my family is flying down the day of the cruise.
Yes, keep in touch, we are practically neighbors!

moocow, we are also flying down the day before--I don't call it paranoia, the words "February" and "vacation", together, make us want to be SURE to catch that boat! We've flown many times and had snow impact our trip (we fly out of Albany).
For excursions, we plan nothing in Key West, although we may do the trolley when we get there, also maybe the pirate's museum (is there one? I have to catch up on these boards...). Just no Disney ones. Then it will be Captain Marvin's at Grand Cayman (I'll be booking that soon, waiting for the final head count), and the Dolphin Discovery/Chakanaab at Cozumel. Buzz is 5 and lives to snorkel, so that's our main "draw" (i.e., what convinced him this would be an acceptable alternative to WDW).
I know what you're saying about that new, "improved" seating...for now, we're sticking with early. Mostly because Buzz has this attractive habit of passing out when he's overwhelmed--it doesn't happen often, but it's the last thing you need on vacation, so for now, we're planning early dinner, have a shorter day, but keep him on his schedule. I'm kind of torn on this, I really like the later one, but don't need more ER visits with this kid!

Hi,
Yes, Robin we are practically neighbors. We pass through Norwalk on the train from New Haven when we go into NYC which is often. I am a big Yankee fan and we have a Saturday ticket plan. We also like to go to see the shows and shop and eat in the city.
We stayed at the Orlando airport Hyatt on our trip the year before last. It worked out really well & the rooms are soundproof so you can get a good nights sleep. We generally fly out from Hartford.
Last cruise (November) I met some people from Louisiana on these boards. We met up on the cruise and our boys became friends. We keep in touch and even met them for dinner in March when our Disney vacations overlapped by a day. The boys both collect disney pins, so they enjoy sending pins to each other every once in a while.
Hopefully we can all meet up on the cruise. Let's stay in touch!

 Count the Nelson Family in on this cruise! We're from Vancouver USA (in Washington state so we're bucking the east coast trend) Myself, DH and DS-11 (he'll turn 12 the following week when we're at WDW) will be in a Cat 3 aft. Our confirmation paperwork arrived from our travel agent last week so I am in major research mode now that this is ever so slowly getting closer to reality. Mom and Dad are more than excited but DS is not sure how much fun he'll have by himself. It's a relief to see others on this thread with boys his age.

Valerie,
I'm glad to hear about the Hyatt. I just hope Disney puts us there. We have purchased the whole package from them, so I guess we are at their mercy. They say it will be an area hotel if not the Hyatt and they will transport us to and from. I'm just excited not to have to deal with leaving for the airport at 2:30 am without sleep. I want to be at my best for this cruise!
Yes, it would be fun to meet up. Our cruise this year there was not too much of a group from the Dis boards, but in 2001 there was a large group, one gal made us all lime green ribbons to wear.
BuzznBelle'smom,
Are you using Disney for your air or doing it on your own? How old are the girls in your group? Sorry to hear about your son's "attractive" habit, I'm sure it will all work out. Sounds like you have a great plan for your excursions. I have to start seriously thinking about it, the time is going so fast! My teenage daughter is not really big on going anywhere with "mom" but if she wants to get off the boat, she needs me. It is the rules! Not just mine, but Disney's. (thank goodness!)
Team Mom,
My daughter was about that age when we first started going on the Disney cruises, and felt the same way. But now, if I don't book our yearly cruise you'd think I ripped off her right arm. He will have a blast, and not want to leave the fun.
Any more February 15th cruisers?

We're going with my 3 (sarah-11, emily-9, jack 3 1/2,) and my brothers 6 (henry 10, arthur 8, william 6, francesca 4, anthony 2, TBA not yet born, will be about 4 mos). adult are me and my wife, my brother and his wife, and my mother and mother-in-law.
Quite a crew!
We have 3 catagory 3 rooms.
We all did the 3 day cruise last year, and are very excited for the 7 day.
I'm thinking about the jet ski tour on key west (non disney), sting ray city snorkeling on caymen, and just a beach day on couzemel.

Thanks for all the support concerning my little pouter. He's getting slightly better so I imagine by February he'll be all ready to go. Oddly enough, so far he's most excited about Key West and our plans to go to Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville for lunch. There's nothing like an 11 year old that knows all the words to "Cheeseburger in Paradise". I originally bought the CD for insprirational, mood music to accompany my cruise frame of mind. Little did I know how well it would influence others.
 Can you folks that have kids that have already gone tell me sort of specifically what kinds of activities are in the Oceaneer's Lab. Riley's impression is that it's all science stuff and he has repeatedly pointed out that Science is *not* his favorite subject.
and a note to DoctorRick: my husband would highly recommend the beach day on Cozumel. We took our one and only cruise together a long, long time ago (like 1984) and that's what we did in that port. I think it was even the Playa Sol Beach that we're offered as an excursion. A lounge chair on a tropical beach with an ice cold cervasa, it's one of his favorite memories. It's obviously on our short list of possiblities this time.

Hi Tomi,
The lab has all kinds of stuff. My son was a bit aprehensive about going on our first cruise but he loved it. My son is not terribly shy but he is at first when making new friends. They show movies (Disney of course) have great computer games and they also take them around the boat at for special things: sometimes karoke in Studio C or shooting hoops on the sports deck or a planned movie in the theatre together. My son is quieter and chose mostly to watch movies, play computer games and do a few experiments. He opted out of the karoke and more "outgoing" activities. The nice thing is when you sign up the first day, you get a schedule of activities for the whole week, so your son can pick the activities he likes and go during those times, avoiding the things he may not be interested in. I hope this helps!
I am going to the shore for a few days so I will catch up with all of you next week.

For kids, our crew consists of my nieces (14, 11, and 5) and then Belle is 7 and Buzz is 5. I'm positive Belle will love the club, our biggest problem may be getting her to pass it up to go on excursions! Buzz is likely to be with us more on the boat, which is fine (look for us by the pool, having angina attacks as he practices his dead man's float for hours on end). We plan to insist that he goes to the clubs only long enough for us to do Palo's and the Surial Spa--everything else we'll play by ear.
DoctorRick, you really have a gang going! How far in advance did you have to make your reservations? It's so nice to be able to do something a large group will enjoy!

My wife and I will also be on this cruise and we are also from the West coast, Seattle, WA. We are actually going on the Eastern the week before and then staying on and meeting my brother and parents for the Feb 15 Western cruise. This will make our 5th cruise with Disney. My parents and brother think that we are nuts but we assured them that there was plenty to do that would keep them happy. I think they are afraid that it is to geared towards the little ones.

 Welcome, yensiDFan. What a pleasant surprise to have another Washington couple in our little group here. GO! Mariners I'm not even going to mention to my DH that you're doing the back to back thing. That's what he wanted to do but since the likelihood of us getting back East anytime soon is slim, I pretty much insisted we spend that second week at WDW. I'd prefer my son see it before he has his college degree. You do get to keep the same cabin for both weeks, don't you?
Thanks for the input Valerie. Any info I can use to make him more comfortable makes me feel better. Sort of the reverse of "if momma ain't happy, then nobody's happy"

Yes, we get the same cabin. I have gotten conflicting reports from DCL as to whether or not we'll have to get off the ship. A couple of people have said we don't and one said we had to get off for customs reasons (just touch land) but all say that our luggage can stay in our rooms so we won't have to pack and then unpack. We are also going to WDW but only for four days after the cruise. I just could not see going all the way to Florida and not seeing the Magic Kingdom. Thankfully my DW understood and was able to accomodate my dreams.

moocow35,
I am just glad that my boss was good enough to allow me 2 plus weeks off. I think it is to make up for all the year end stuff when I am working 70 hours a week to ready for our year end statements. I need two weeks after that just to recuperate. I kind of had to do the first week for my DW since the second week my family will be on board. She will need some down time to ready herself for their crazy antics and my fathers constant nagging and wanting to go and do something. He does not understand how we can just lie in the sun for hours on end.

Our thread seems to have dropped waaay back, so I thought I'd post this to give us a "bump" up to see if there are any new FEBRUARY 15 2003 cruisers that might like to join our roll call. Noticed this morning that the thread for the Feb 1 cruise has 13 pages and posts from almost 20 families. Hoping we can find some more friends from our cruise.
On a personal note, I'm embarrassed to tell you how ridiculously excited I am already. It's been a long time since I've had a vacation that consisted of something more than a trip to Seattle to see a couple of Mariners' games. Not that that's a bad thing, it just doesn't come anywhere close to generating the kind of excitement that planning for this cruise does...and planning I am. I finally broke down and started putting all my notes, Excel spreadsheets, etc in a binder to keep it all organized and handy for my frequent consultation. I take my having fun very seriously.

Hi Tomi,
Good idea to keep the thread going! Glad you are so excited-you will have a great time on the cruise I am sure! Are you big Mariners Fans? My brother lived in Seattle for several years and we visited him back in 93 and took in a game at the old Kingdome. We are big Yankee fans here. Now onto the important subject...the cruise!
Has anyone started thinking about excursions or what they want to do onboard (Spa, Palo etc??).

I've already started thinking about what we want to do, and when. The excursions were first, but we're definitely doing Palo's one night (not sure which). The spa, I'm less sure...I read the thread on "issues" with the Surial spa, which we were going to do, but the points brought up there hit close to home, so now I'm debating. As my signature states, we;re cruising on my birthday, and I've already dropped the hint that shipboard credits make lovely gifts (feel free to contribute anyone else out there!;) ). I was thinking it would be nice to treat myself to soem spa things. Still debating--it's not typical for me to do spa-type stuff. I'm also considering having my hair braided. So, relax, you're not the only one dreaming of the cruise!

Wow! This is just what I need to start planning our trip. Haven't been on this board in a long time.
We are all flying down Wednesday and staying at BW before the cruise sails. Brother and SIL are thinking of Xcaret Park in Cozumel -- they saw it on Travel Channel last week and said it looked awesome. Gotta go read up on those excursions and get with the program.

Hi Tink,
We are flying down on Wednesday before also. We will be at the Beach Club Villas. We are DVCers & the BW is our home resort, but we thought we would give the Beach Club a try this time. We are going to the BW the first week in November for just a few days. Where are you flying out of? We sometimes go to LaGuardia but it is just as easy to catch a flight out of Hartford. We were thinking about the same excursion in Cozumel. We just love the beach. Anyone else decided??

Hi Valerie,
Our home resort is also BW, and we just did an add-on at BCV's, although we haven't stayed there as of yet. Just used some of those points to book HH for Easter week (it will be our first time staying there). My brother's family will also be at BW for Halloween and a few days after. I'm a bit jealous as I just read somewhere they are having all kinds of festivities, trick-or-treating etc. on the BW. Sure do miss that place!
We'll be leaving on the 12th from Kennedy. For the past few years we drove down to Florida -- my husband likes having his car. I had enough of that insanity and booked the flights back in early July.
Do you know anyone who has been to Xcaret? It would have been great to see the show on Travel channel. As far as Key West, I think we'll just do our own thing. Staying away from snorkling as I don't think my DD's will want to do it for more than 5 minutes, plus they're afraid of sharks  ME too! Just spent a week at the beach with my oldest who wouldn't put her body in the water past her ankles. Imagine if she could see what was actually in there? I'll let them try it at Castaway Cay and maybe they'll want to go when they are a little older.
Having only done the 3-day cruise, We are definitely looking forward to the 7 day.

TeamMom011
10-20-2002, 10:12 PM
Hey, DoctorRick- congratulations on sending in that last payment! Does it make it seem all that much more real?
The Nelson family still has no idea what we're going to be doing. We think that on Key West we'll just do some wandering with a "cheeseburger in paradise" at Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville being the objective. We're not parrotheads but DS-11 knows all the words of the song and that's his mental image of the Caribbean. On Grand Cayman we're leaning toward the Stingray excursion since we've heard over and over on these boards that it's a must see. At Cozumel I want to do the dolphin swim but I'd have to schedule it myself rather than through DCL and that makes me nervous. DH just wants to lay on the beach, eat tacos and drink cold beer. But even that would leave us with deciding between DCL's excursion to Playa del Sol or taking off on our own to Mister Sanchez's. DS has simple wants and needs. He just wants to go play mini golf.
Over the last couple of months I've collected some links about excursions. If you haven't seen these, they might give you some things to consider.

Just to remind everyone, as of today you can book your disney excursions.
I still haven't decided what to do on key west yet.
Doing playa del sol on cozumel (good web site http://www.playasol.com.mx/) Looks fun for our younger kids, and something our whole group of 15 can do together.
On cayman going to do the short sting ray city at noon, and doing horseback riding in the morning (non disney excursion)
Going to do the banana boats on cc.
Heard about the "jet ski tour" on key west (non disney excursion) but can't find any info on it.

Hi to all!! ROLL CALL!! Are we all still here and are there anymore of us that have come on board while our thread was lying dormant? At last count, my type-A, organizing personality had counted a pretty good sized group from the DisBoards:
DOCTORRICK (from MA) with a group of 14, Disneybets (from NY) a party of 4 plus friends, Moocow35 (from CT) 4+ in her group, VJMorrell (also from CT) 4 cruisers, Yensidfan99 (from WA) 2 cruisers doing the first leg of a back to back, Mumph39 (also from NY) another party of 14, Tink Fans (yet another from NY) with 9 in their group, and me TeamMom011 (also from WA) previously party of 3, now 4 (added a buddy for DS). I promise I'm not a stalker or anything keeping track of us all like this, just apparently had waaay too much time on my hands one evening.
We have already booked our excursions (also not through DCL). Still no plans on Key West but ended up with the 2 hour Captain Marvin's Stingray snorkel trip on GC and the dolphin swim on Cozumel. Two questions for DOCTORRICK (or anyone else that might have the answer): I see you're planning the banana boats on CC. Should those be booked right away or can that be more of a last minute decision? And have you asked Shirley at the Perfect Gift to track down the jet ski tour for you. She seems to be an amazing source of Key West information if the ones that come up on a web search aren't the one you're looking for.

Hey teammom,
I really really want to do the Dolphin Swim, did you book directly with their website? I emailed them days ago, and still have not received a reply which makes me kind of nervous. Do you know how many people at a particular session are allowed? Let me know, as I heard it books quickly and because of my phobias of being ripped off, I don't want to lose out. Oh, and there is a total of 8 of us going, 3 staterooms on deck 7.
I made my final payment on the 5th, and have been waiting not so patiently to book my excursions. I called Disney this morning and just in case I don't get to swim with the Dolphins I booked the horseback riding, the stingray and island tour, and Key West will be the trolley on my own. However this is all subject to change.
I can't believe that time has gone by so fast! I've had this booked since 9/13/01 and we are almost there. Once Christmas is over then the really serious planning starts!
Countin down the days!!!

About the banana boats, based on my previous 2 cruises I think they do fill up. They are something you can do (probably for less money) on your own, on any of the beach excursions at the other ports.
As for key west, shirley did send me her packet, which had a good amount of info, but didn't address that particular tour.

We had to change the time of our Dolphin excursion because the original was already too full to add one more but they got our whole group moved to another time together. I was pleasantly surprised when the Stingray Snorkel turned out to be Captain Marvin's. Most was done through e-mail but they did call me twice to make sure everything was okay. I initially chose them because they will refund the cost of the excursion if for some reason the ship can't get to port (not likely to be a problem, but I'm a Worry Weanie).
And Doctorrick, we're in 8100, almost as far aft as we can get.
It's hard to believe the countdown timer is as low as it is! We booked on July 9 so I've had seven months to plot and plan. I can't decide if time is gonna fly by after the holidays or if it's really gonna drag because I'll have nothing else to obcess about.

Hi All,
It's good to hear that we are all still here and counting down the days!!
I haven't booked any excursions yet; we have decided not to do anything at Key West. We just want to stroll a bit through the shops, etc. and relax on the ship. We are doing 7 mile beach at Grand Cayman and I think the Catamaran/Snorkel/Beach at Cozumel. We are sort of the laid back beach types but thought that sounded like fun. Guess I'd better get on the phone and book so I won't be dissapointed!!
We will have to figure out a way to try and meet at sailing time. I can't remember our stateroom number, but it is on deck 6, mid ship w/ veranda. Past two cruises we were on deck 7 w/ veranda, but I booked with some extra DVC points and I had just enough to book a category 6 which is fine for the three of us. (My Mom is in her own room).
Look forward to hearing from all of you soon and I will let you know what and when I book!!

Thanks Teammom,
I finally got an answer back from them. I was told they only had 3 places left for the 2:00 swim and nothing else, so I booked that time directly with Dolphin Discovery. I am really excited about it, it looks wonderful. I have the stingray and island tour booked through DCL. Still might switch over to Capt Marvins, the "family" needs to get together and discuss that plan. Dolphin Discovery will also refund if the ship is late or doesn't dock that day.
I can't believe how fast time is going! Soon we will be getting our docs. I just read someone from 2/1 just got theirs.
Have a Merry Christmas everyone!

I do think the docs should be here soon. It's fun when the Fedex person shows up with them? Doctor Rick, let's see how close you are on the timing!
Booked a few excursions today. I booked 1:30 & 3:00 on the Banana Boats at Castaway Cay. Also the Dolphin Discovery at Cozumel. It was a last minute decision-and I know I am happy about it. We chose the 1PM time. I tried to book the 7 Mile Beach Break & was told it couldn't be booked. Not because it was full, but they were not taking bookings at this time. I think I am going to check this out on my own.
That's it for now!!

2 weeks sounds good to me!
This year in February, the Fedex guy came to the door pretty late at night, did not knock and just left them between the storm door and front door. My daughter was sitting here at the computer and heard him. This had to of been after 9:00. Thank god she heard him and retrieved them before anyone in the complex got to them. They should require signatures.

Can't remember, but I thought I might have signed for mine last time.
For all of you from the Northeast-don't we really deserve this break this year with all of the snow!!
Also, I did some investigating and I think in Grand Caymen we are going to beach it on our own-no excursion. The woman from DCL said it is really easy to pick up a taxi and 7 mile beach is only a ten minute ride.

In the mail on Christmas Eve we got the "Everything You Didn't Know You Wanted To Know About WDW" pamphlet and welcome letter. That was exciting enough. The wait for the cruise docs is just too much. We were at the coast over New Year's and I bet DH asked me a half dozen times "do you think the docs are waiting for us yet?". And I'm the one who's excited. Yeah, Right ;)

Well, I have been reading these boards and must admit that YESTERDAY I booked the Feb 15, 7-day cruise for my family, then immediately registered for these discussion boards! Originally (Nov 2001) booked the 7 day land and sea package starting 2/13 but changed our minds as time grew nearer. Did the 4 day on the Wonder 2 years ago. We have a gaurantee of a cat 4 but not an actual cabin number. I am feeling behind, and researching port activities. We might just wing it while we're there. Our teenagers (15 & 17) are looking forward to returning to common grounds, and are already negotiating how many dinners they have to eat with us. Let the countdown begin!

We are flying down that morning with our traveling group. I picked up my over the door shoe organizer since we usually have too much small junk. We have the early dinner seating. But I plan to be at key West for the sunset so we may miss dinner that night. We also plan to walk around Key West and maybe ride the trolley if we tire. Grand Cayman: I have reserved the catamaran ride to stingray city through Disney. It is a few more dollars but I like the peace of mind that the ship won't sail without us. Cozumel, we will probably taxi to San Francisco beach. My DS 9 can't wait to snorkle at stingray city and meet new friends in the club, shows, movies and drinking lots of leomonade. DS 12 says he may stay in the boat at stingray city and looks forward to playing in the arcade, eating french fries and hamburgers, and kyacking at castaway cay. We have an inside cabin on deck 6, but plan to be out enjoying the ship. See ya soon.:Pinkbounc :bounce: :jester:

Hi Marti and welcome!
I just had to respond to your post about the teenagers negotiating having to have dinner with you. It really made me laugh. I have a 16 year old, and that is the only thing that has been mandatory on our previous cruises. This is #4 for us, and there are quite a few teens going again this year that went the last few years. (seems to have become an annual thing) Actually since these are going to be new ports, she wants to join me on the excursions I have booked. Highly unlike her, but I'm pleased.
DVC-Don, welcome also! It will be nice to leave the cold winter we are having this year. I booked to go down a day early not only for the weather problems, but lack of sleep from traveling all day. Our last cruise we were up at 2:00am to travel to the airport, we were not very functional by days end!

Just caught up on reading the last couple of pages . . . No documents here yet either.
We're (Me, actually) starting pulling out all the summer clothes. My youngest wants to know why she can't wear the bathing suit under her clothes to school. Haven't thought much about packing except bought a new dress for formal night-DH will wear a rented tux. He has many nice suits but it is just so much more to pack and think about!! As it is he takes a jacket for Lumiere.

I just realized I won't get my documents until after the 30 day mark has passed. I used Disney air, and the tickets are in the documents. They don't have the air info until 30 day mark, or at least they don't tell you until then. So on the 14th I will call to get the air info, and hopefully the docs will come shortly after.
I'll pull the suitcases out of the attic in the next few weeks to start airing them out, and slowly start washing and ironing the summer clothes. My teenage daughter brought way too much last year, I believe 7 pairs of shoes! I will have to somehow tell her there is a limit and she can't do that again. LOL

No documents for me yet, but I did get my flight information, so the documents should be coming soon!
I am really happy with our flights this year, direct both ways, we will be in Orlando just after 12:00 on Friday, so that gives us free time. I managed to book pretty good seats for Cirque du Soleil at Downtown Disney for that evening. We will probably hire a limo service to get us there and back, not too much more money than renting a car for one day. Then back to the Airport Hyatt to rest up for Saturday! This is going to be a fantastic vacation!
Marti, just like you we are doing the trolley on our own in Key West and shopping. Cozumel we are swimming with the Dolphins, and Grand Cayman we are doing the Disney island tour and swimming with the stingrays.

Well I'm finally starting to get organized. Booked the 1/2 day Stingray City snorkel excursion with Captain Marvin's yesterday. The kids are really excited about that. We figure we'll hit Mr. Sancho's on Cozumel and do a jet ski tour in Key West, then just take in the sights. Had the kids try on their clothes, not bad just need a few things here and there.
It's really amazing how much more relaxed I am since last year's cruise. It's great knowing exactly what to pack, and what not to pack. However, I probably will STILL overpack.
Still haven't gotten my documents yet. Spoke to TA yesterday, she hasn't received them either. Not worrying... yet!

Just checking in. How's everyone doing with preparations? I'm in packing mode which means a few things in a suitcase but mostly list after list. Putting stuff together for a two week trip with weather from Caribbean warm to the possibility of chilly nites at WDW is testing my organizational skills ;) . Poor DH was shocked when he found out how much his suits had shrunk while hanging in the closet. So much so that they can't even be altered to fit. It's off to Nordstrom Rack we go today. I'll also be checking for additional clothes for ds and his friend to replace what's been outgrown. Finding warm weather clothes in the NW can be trying even in summer since it is usually warm here for a day and half in August.
Diana, I was noticing our countdown clocks are almost exactly one apart. Will you be staying at the Hyatt the night before? We haven't gotten our details yet (no docs :( ) but that's what we're hoping for.
Happy packing everyone . . . we are gettin' close

Tomi, we are staying at the Marriott in Cocoa Beach the day before the cruise. We picked that one because they have rooms that sleep a family of five. Sometimes we have trouble and have to book two rooms. Two other families of 5 are joining us there as well. Our other friends are staying near Universal Studios.
Last year I packed way too much. We were basically in our bathing suits all day. On the ship and on the islands. Just needed a few shorts outfits and dinner clothes.

I'm only doing a pre-doc dance. I was finally coaxed (okay, it was more like tormented) into calling the TA this afternoon. I didn't want to bug her but DH started poking at me about 2 o'clock to "go ahead, call her" When I finally caved at a quarter to 5 she told me the WDW trip part came in but the Cruise docs just arrived at "corporate" over in Portland today so they won't be in Vancouver until Monday.
Robin, I'm so envious. Cirque de Soleil is quite a way to start your trip! We board the plane at 8:30am but don't get to Orlando until 6. After being in planes and airports all day, we're not going to feel like doing much other than eating and getting to sleep. We're wimps :)
And Diana, I took your advice and took a couple of outfits out of the suitcase. On a great vacation like this people will have better things to do than worry about me wearing the same outfit twice, right? ;)

I know you guys have category 3 rooms, as do we. My cruise document package was missing some info when I got them. We didn't have the tux rental information, but I knew how to take care of that. I do remember on our cruise last year, we received a letter from the concierge letting us know when to meet them to make our ressies. We did not receive this. Have you gotten it? I also have read on other posts that concierge guests can make Palo ressies in advance too. Did you get this info? Just checking being that I was missing some documents.
If you want, you can e-mail me Mumph39@aol, or just post here. Thanks.

Hi Valerie,
We are booked for the 2:00 swim. Looks like we will just miss each other. We will most likely catch a cab over there early, do the park, go for our swim, and then shop and golf. When I booked there was only 3 spots left for the 2:00 swim. We also have the late dinner, which I am really glad for. I don't want to feel under pressure about getting back to the ship by 4:00 to shower and dress. I've seen all the shows 3 times now, so if I miss them it's no big deal. Looks like our "premier" at sea will be Jungle Book 2, should be good! Hopefully since it is releasing in the theatres on the 14th, it will be on the first night.
I just lugged the suitcases out of the attic to air out. I bought a mask and snorkle today at sports authority (don't want to use one already used by anyone else) I got 4 disposable waterproof cameras, and endless rolls of film. Now comes the fun of packing!

Hi Valerie & Robin - not that you asked :jester: but our dolphin swim is scheduled for 3o'clock. It looks like it's going to be a steady stream of DISers.
Didn't think it mattered much as far as wrinkles go whether things are crammed in a couple of days or several weeks before so our family is already almost all packed. Although I think my obsessive compulsive behavior has caused my boys to have nightmares; DS had one where he found his suitcase empty when it was time to go and DH had one where when he arrived on the ship I'd changed everything to his winter clothes. But he can't hold me responsible for the one about finding nothing but icky beef stew on board :teeth:
and, yes, Valerie the news today has been very sad. DH is a news junkie so it's been on all day. They train so hard it's like their whole family becomes part of the program. I can't even begin to comprehend what it must be like to be waiting and then be told they're not coming home.

Started pulling out the clothing for the trip. I think I am going to start slowly packing around the middle of the week. As I said, I usually wait till the day before but I really want to try to pack less( I always overpack) and maybe if I give myself more time to think about it I'll travel lighter!
We are leaving for BCV also, on the Wednesday before the cruise. It's getting close now!

Sally, thanks for visiting our thread. Our family also has the dolphin swim mid-day. Would your recommendation be mini-golf morning or mini-golf after Chankannab? How late does it stay light there or is your course lit? You said earlier the course is elevated. If it's not real warm out will we need our sweatshirts? I know, so many questions. Give Sunshine a hug for us.

Hi Everyone!
One more week today and we will be boarding the ship! It sure will be nice to get out of this cold. I just checked weather channel.com and it looks like the entire next week will be snow  It is showing Monday-Saturday for the New York airports. I just hope the plane can take off safely, and on time! I know weathermen are notorious for being wrong, so I hope this is the case this time.
Today will be the day to start putting things into the suitcases.

VJMorrell (Valerie), wbouse (Wendy) and TeamMom011 (Tomi): Can't wait to meet you all! Sunshine is getting fired up as well. Well.. as fired up as a 15 and a half year old dog can get. I've told her to expect many new friends on "Magic Wednesday".
Tomi: You can minigolf either before or after your dolphin swim. The course is beautifully lit at night and we are open later than you are in Cozumel. I will say that if you plan on an evening of minigolf, you may end up being too tired at the end of the day. Sunshine is frequently disappointed this way!
No sweatshirts needed! Cozumel is quite warm.
Soon....

We are a group of 8 on the 2/15 Western Magic! Myself, DW, DD9, DS7 & DD3, as well as our good friends with their DS7. What a perfect winter to escape to the tropics! My DD9 is looking forward to meeting new friends on board. We decided to opt out of the Key West excursions and venture out on our own. Have you seen the streaming web cam from Sloppy Joe's on Duval Street? Sloppy Joe's Live Streaming Cam (http://www.liveduvalstreet.com)
On Cozumel we are doing the Dolphin Encounter at 1:00 (maybe 1:30?) and OMG I need to ask DW what we are doing on GC!
I just want to go. I just want to go!
We are leaving the day before (Friday) and staying the night at WDW at All Star Movie Resort. Dinner at Boma's Friday night and Character Breakfast Sat morning at Cape May! Not to mention that we are looking forward to a quick run through Ron Jons before we get on the ship. Can't express our excitement enough. I wish all of my fellow cruisers a wish for safe travel and we will see you all on the 15th!

Hi Joefixes,
Thanks for posting that link. How cool is that to see all those people walking by in shorts and sleeveless shirts, and we are expecting more snow tomorrow! It will be our turn next week.
We can't wait either!
Sally, We also are planning on visiting you! Most likely after our Dolphin Swim.

Hi Joe & welcome to the boards!! My DH and Son are also doing the 1 PM dolphin encounter. Is yours through Disney? Ours is. We are also going to wing it in Key West & explore on our own.
Sally, thanks again for the helpful info & we can't wait to come& meet you.
I am almost all packed!! All the clothing is set-just have to pack the toiletries & odds & ends..I'll do that just before we go on Wednesday.
I agree- with more snow in the forecast (4-8" here on the Connecticut shoreline) makes it all the more reason to want to get out of here!! Actually it's the cold temps that get to me and it is suppossed to get much colder the next few days.

Hi Valerie,
Yes, our Dolphin Encounter is also through Disney, so I am sure we will see you there.
As for the snow? Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow........as long as our plane can take off I hope they get another 12 inches up here!
Only 4 more days of work!!

Bellingham is ready to go!!! (Well, I haven't actually started to pack yet, or do the laundry, but I have my sunscreen!!). We leave on Friday morning out of Providence and are spending the night at the Hilton (on points) at Downtown Disney. We can shop, maybe go to Disney Quest, meet up with my in-laws, then head to the port Sat. am. I haven't had much luck booking excursions on-line - they seem to be full! Does anyone know if they hold spaces for activities for people to book onboard (which, of course, defeats the purpose of booking ahead of time online). Hope to see you on board!!! Happy shoveling to all of us who are due to get more snow!! Wendy
VJMorrell

Don't know if they hold space. That is a good question. I would say at best to call excursions 2 days before because that is the cancellation period for existing reservations.

OK, Wendy, let me put your mind at ease. We leave tomorrow and while I have a stack of clothes and misc items set out, I have not actually placed anything in a suitcase. Tonight for sure! Or my family will be the one wearing the same thing the whole time we are on the ship!

Thanks - that makes me feel much better. I usually just give my kids a list of things to put in a pile (4 shorts, 2 bathing suits, etc.) and I fill in from there. I still have plenty of time. I'm actually trying to book excursions because we can't get any of the ones we want through Disney and they don't have waitlists. They just say to check and see if there were any cancellations. Bummer to do is this way, but at least we'll get to snorkle and get to stingray city!. Wendy

Marti, after the previous coffee threads with so many people questioning the legality of taking a coffee pot on board I'm living in fear of it being confiscated as contraband at the port.
If that happens, you and your coffee press will be my new best friend ;)
As far as a meeting time/place goes, I haven't heard anything nor do I have any ideas. Do you (or anyone else) have any suggestions?

I'm jealous! We are flying out on Friday morning also. So far so good on the weather for flying on Friday on the east coast. Unfortunately the rest of my family opted to fly Saturday, and it doesn't look too good.
Usually the best time for meeting is after the ressie rush, after the lifeboat drill, and somewhere at the sail away party. I'm open for suggestions. Sounds like a few of us will be crossing paths at the Dolphin discovery/mini golf. How will we recognize each other?
Back to packing!

Hi all,
I can tell by all the posts we are getting really excited. From the past two cruises I have been on a meeting place sounds good at sail away. Although everyone wants to watch(center pool which is covered at sail away has the entertainment going on), I think the top deck is easier to find people. In the past , some people have suggested pinning a small ribbon on their shirt in an agreed upon color. At this point this is also one more thing to remember. I go for whatever is easiest. It would be fun to meet some of you on board and I am open to any suggestion.

Wendy lol sounds like a good way to meet friends. Just walk up to anyone with a tropical drink and say "Hi!, are you Wendy from the DIS"
How's anyone feel about maybe holding off to Sunday for the meet? I think our family will be pretty tied up during the sailaway and before. I was thinking maybe on deck 10 prior to docking at Key West. If we planned it on the port side couldn't we watch the docking?
We're cutting it down to the wire here. People (ie doctorrick and friends) are leaving SOON . Does anyone have any ideas?

Now my count down clock is less than 24 hours! Yikes, what am I doing here at work, I've got other things to do!!! I'm taking Wendy's idea and will also have a tropical drink in my hand! As I recall I didn't like what they served at Sail away, but they look so darn festive that ya gotta have one!
On deck 10 before docking at Key West is OK by me. Thanks for stepping forward with an idea TeamMom011.

Sounds good! I'm listening to a "tropical" cd I burned for myself and my friend who is going on Carnival at the same time - lots of Jimmy Buffet and Santana with some Beach Boys thrown in!! I'm finally starting to at least think about what to bring. I had some trouble getting in the DCL excursions, so I was working on Captain Marvin stuff on Grand Cayman - as long as the kids get to Stinray City they'll be happy! Happy packing!! Wendy

This morning as I was buzzing around I spilled coffee my my dh tux shirt so I had to drop it off at the dry cleaners on the way to work this morning. We are staying at the airport tonight, so I only have a couple of hours to finish up after work!
I wish I had your tropical CD with me today! I'm just humming to myself and it is not quite the same!

I'll be there, doubt I'll have the tropical drink in my hand at that hour! However, that would make a very interesting day in Key West.
We're doing the Disney land and sea tour in Grand Cayman. My sister and family are doing the Capt. Marvins 11:15 - 1:15.

Was wondering how many of us were still here. Seems like a lot left yesterday. DS was up at 5:40 this a.m. so he could watch our countdown clock roll over to one day.
Hope you don't have any trouble getting out on your flight. I haven't mentioned our weather here because you probably don't want to hear about it. Not only have we not had any snow this year, I was running around in short sleeves yesterday. We will pay for it this summer. There is no snowpack on the mountains at all. Some ski resorts have not even been able to open. What is up with Mother Nature? I'm sure you'd be more than willing to share.
Looking forward to finally meeting everyone. Safe travels to all.

We leave tomorrow morning (Fri.) from La Guardia. I am off of work today to do last minute errands and packing.
Diana, I hear you about the snow! The rest of my family opted not to spend the extra to go a day early, and they are flying from La Guardia, to Columbus, and then to Orlando. I choose to never do that again, it's the worst with a 6:00 am flight.
Forecast looks good for all of our route! Mid 80's in Cozumel and Grand Cayman.
Team Mom, we might run into each other at the Hyatt in the morning getting on the bus. Are you taking Disney transportation or using a towncar? We hope to get on the first bus to the port. :sunny: Look for us, I have curly long reddish blonde hair, I'm on the heavy side and short. My daughter has short reddish brown hair. Just the two of us
