Dxddp appetizer question?

We decided to go with the DXDDP.
I have made all the ADR's and I have been checking out the menu's and I have noticed that they have several appetizers for two or more. How does this work if we want to share the larger appetizer between all of us? Can we order it or do we have to each pick one.
I have called Disney, twice to add a celebration info to our ressies. The first time I was told no that you can't order the appetizers for 2 or more, when I made the next call I was told it does not matter what you order with the DXDDP.
So now I'm confused:confused::confused::confused::confused3

I'm not 100% sure. Hopefully, another diser can help, but from my understanding, 2 people can share the appetizer for 2, and then anyone else can order 1 appetizer each.
I think its really up to each restaurant though so you should just ask the server before actually ordering.

When we were there this past June with the DxDP we were allowed to order the appetizers for two BUT it counted as BOTH (i.e.two) adults' appetizers. In other words --- we had two adults and two children on the plan. If we ordered an appetizer labeled for two then it counted for both mine and DH's appetizer. If we each wanted to order something different than neither of us could order the appetizer for two. Does that make sense?

Policy does seem to be rather non-existent on the subject. Most people report that in practice, items "for two" can be ordered using the entitlements from 2 people; in some cases, people have reported (including myself, at Sci-Fi Dine In) that they were allowed to order the "for two" item with only one entitlement, but that does not seem to be common.

Looks like it's going to be entirely up to the individual restaurant, or even the individual server, as to whether one diner on DXDDP will be able to order an appetizer marked "for two."

Our experience in December with DXDDP is that it depends entirely on the place and server. Adam in Yak&Yeti told us upfront we couldn't order an app for 2 for 1 credit, Rachid in Marrakesh said we could, and one of the first things Michael in SciFi told us was since we had DXDDP we could order anything we wanted food-wise.

I have been searching different sites as well as DIS it seems that no-one can give me the full proof answer. . I guess we will just play it by ear, It never hurts to ask. :confused3

We were told the same thing at Yak & Yeti, Tutto Italia, Le Cellier, and Mama Melrose. But at Rose and Crown the waiter actually encouraged us each to order a cheese/sausage plate and said there was no limitation if you were on the DDP. It looks like each restaurant makes up their own rules.:confused3 or it could even be up to each waiter. I've read on here where individuals have been able to order the appetizers for two at Mama Melrose, but when I asked I was told no, that two people had to order it.:confused3

Thanks for asking I was curious about this as well. I just assumed if it was allowed it would use two people's app entitlements. Hubby and I were looking a quite a few of the 2 people apps and certainly we would share.

Oh this will get us In trouble!!!,me and my dS love Apptizers:love: and sometimes just eat apptizers for our meal. So I seen at a few of the other places that they have alot of fish apptizers can you subsutuie soup or salad for the apptizers If yuo do not like them? sorry not a fish eater.

She transferred me to a dining rep.
I explained that we were on the DXDDP and asked the question :scared1:
Here's what I was told.
If their are say 4 adults they can each have there own appy.
or
2 adults can share the appetizer for 2 but it counts for each person as their appetizer.( Which is what I would like to be able to do)
or
1 person can not get a appetizer for 2.
or
1 adult and 1 child can share a appetizer for 2
Then at the end of the call she stated that I should ask our server, and it could depend on the restaurant.
So Basicly I'm still confused:confused3:confused3:confused3

We are not going till the very end of May, Please post if you are allowed to get the appy for 2 and of course which restaurant, or if you weren't and again which restaurant. Thanks everyone.;)

Your best bet will be just ask your waitress. And we found the apps (single serving) to be large at most restaurants...the "for 2" tend towards the huge. Only exceptions I can think of is the apps at Coral Reef were small. As for ordering "for 2": In May & September 2009, at Mama Melrose on the Fantasmic Dining Plan, we were told we could each get an appetizer, even the "for 2" calamari...specifically, DH & I were debating if we wanted to share calamari or get separate choices and our waitress hopped into the debate & said, "not a problem...there's 4 of you, so you can get 4 different appetizers here." When I said "but the calamari is for 2" she said didn't make any difference, we could still order it. And DH & I had the calamari before - they did not downsize the serving when we ordered it this time. Last week, at Sci Fi, it was just DH & I, on the Deluxe Plan...waitress let us order the Spinach dip for 2 AND the onion rings. Again, she specifically said "no problem, you can have both" when she heard us debating whether to share the "for 2" app or get separate items.

To make things more confusing, some times you will be asked if you'd like a single sized serving of an appy for two. Other times you might request the same thing at the same restaurant but your server looks at you like you're crazy and adamantly refuses. :confused3 :laughing:
