Since we'll probably hit the beach on our own for the Western cruise I was wondering what I should pack for those days. If you did the beach on your own did you have to use your own towels or could you take some off the ship? What else did you pack in your beach bag?

We did the beaches on our own for the Eastern Cruise. I purchased the beach bag (large duffle/backpack type) they had at Mickey's treasures. I saw it in the Magical Treasures brochure and was going to order it, but was told it was sold in the shops, so I waited until we boarded. We took the towels they gave us as we disembarked, but also bought a couple of beach towels in St. Martin and St. Thomas for souveniors.

Packed in the bag - towels, SUNBLOCK!!!!, camera, film, t-shirts, water bottles, snacks. We had our KTTW card/money in the little holders you can buy on board which are waterproof and hang around your neck. Also packed a spray bottle to fill with water to spritz off. Oh yeah and this is a great thing to pack - Baby powder. When you put it on over your sandy legs, feet, etc., the sand just falls off and you are all clean again. No need to drag sand onto the boat or your stateroom.

Thanks for the baby powder tip. That's new to me, but it makes sense.

Thanks for the baby powder tip. My entire childhood was spent at the Jersey Shore and I never knew this. When I think of how much sand I brought home - my mother used to hose us down before we were allowed in the house :) We are off to the beach this week with my 2 kids and I will definetly be bringing some powder. Thanks Again.

I never heard of the baby powder trick, but I am going to try this!!! I always felt bad for the cabin steward, because even though you try your best to get the sand wiped off, you still drag some back to the room with you!!

Disney does provide towels however.....if you like like bigger, fluffier towels, bring your own. My dh and I brought our beach towels, they took up a little space but totally worth it!

Like the Baby Powder trick. I'll have to bring some minis with us. But, don't forget a zip-lock with a washcloth from the ship in it. I need to wash my face off after going to the beach.

I spend all our time in the summer at the beach, and also remember as a child being hosed down in the backyard. I vowed I would never do that to my child - the water was sooooo cold!! My pediatrician told me about the powder and it works like a dream. Am glad I helped you guys out.
