Below is the path for an article on Pandora Boxx out of Rochester. I am very excited for her. We don't have LOGO on our Dish but I understand that reruns will air on VH1 at some point.

Okay, so what did everyone think? I did not see the first season so I have nothing to compare it to. I felt bad for Shangela, if you weren't going to give her a chance because of inexperience why put her on the show in the first place. I liked her better than a couple of the girls.
Though I'm rooting for Pandora as home town favorite, I do think some of the other girls are stronger.

Dont have everyone's name in my head yet, but I thought it started off great! Really liked the special they aired after the show, sort of behind the scenes thing. Wish Kathy Griffin was on a little more than she was...
Gotta set the TiVo for next week!

HOORAY!!! I'm glad to see some positive posts about Pandora. Pandora is a Rochester girl (my hubby and I live here in Rochester) and Pandora (aka Michael) is a good friend of mine. I adore her---and I know there are a lot of queens on the show still to try to fit all into a one hour show, but I have to say I was disappointed that she didn't get a little more air time so that her personality could come across more because SHE IS A HOOT! She is the silliest, craziest, funniest, cleverest thing....and is so involved in our community in a really positive way (and has been for a very long time).
We're definitely all pulling for our local girl! :thumbsup2

I know both of them very well, as well. Professionally I work in the LGBT field doing advocacy and capacity building trainings----and two of my program's big areas of focus are LGBTQ youth issues and healthcare & human service providers. Windz, in his day to day non drag life, works in the schools and so is a great contact for school change around LGBTQ adolescent issues and Raven, in his day to day non-drag life, is just finishing up medical school and has been a part of a lot training I do here with the medical community!! (I'm a lecturer in our area medical and nursing school programs around LGBTQ patient care issues)

Hey Tig,
I'm glad you posted. I'll admit I've never been to one of the shows. They're too late for me. But I definitely think the article in City Newspaper shows more what Pandora's about and it didn't translate to the first episode. And with all of the stuff she does around here she obviously is well received as performer here. (I do read the EC and City Newspaper and at least try to keep up with the local news there)
I told DP Pandora wasn't getting much air time and I was worried she'd be out the 1st week, but then DP pointed out Michael was getting a lot of air time. And he did, they actually showed quite a bit of his interviews. So it will be interesting to see if Pandora gets more air time on the next episode.
Another Rochesterian pulling for Pandora.

Yes she did....actually I think several of them have come off as nasty thus far. I realize that's possibly/probably the way it's being edited...and that it is the stereotype about drag queens in general that they're all super *****y....but it's kind of disappointing....I know it wouldn't make for nearly as "interesting" TV for most folks, but I'd love to see a bunch of sissified gay men in dresses actually getting along, having a good time and bonding like sisters!! :lovestruc
I think my favorite quote this season thus far is RuPaul, "I do sassy, honey, NOT *****y!" (Talking to Sonique about the way she acted selling the cherry pie gift certificates on the street.) All the queens could take that as a little nugget of wisdom!!
(I know I'm biased since she's my friend, but I am pleased that thus far Pandora has seemed to not be wrapped up in too much of the nastiness and drama. :thumbsup2)

I should be clear....that the "Raven" we're talking about who's a med student is a well known drag KING here in the Rochester area....not the queen Raven who is a contestant on Drag Race this season (or the fierce Atlanta queen Raven aka "Goddess Raven" who has been around forever, used to perform in Charlie Brown's show and won the national EOY (Entertainer of the Year) pageant a few year's back)

Pandora is also another favorite. I loved her interactions with Kathy Griffin the other week. And you're right about her wanting to stay above the drama.

I was a little nervous last night (I watch it on VH1 on Tuesdays) when Pandora's team lost, but she made it through, phew.
I didn't watch last season and I've read various posts not just here of people being disappointed compared to last season. Because I don't have that point of reference, I'm loving it. Work is also extra crazy this time of year so Tuesday nights are now my proclaimed to get in bed with DP and just watch the show.
I still don't think Shangela should've gone in the first week.

i agree Shangala shouldn't have been dropped yet. I suppose they have to keep around some of the weaker ones for some controversy. I would love to know how much of a say RuPaul actually has in the decision or if its controlled by some secret group of writers..
As of now Pandora is my #1 and Raven is #2 her dress blew me away

Okay. So last night's episode was . . . interesting.
After three episodes, I have to say Pandora Box has emerged as my favorite, followed closely by Raven.
I know that I should be cheering on the "local girl" but Tyra Sanchez grates every nerve I've got. Can't stand her. Totally peeved that she won last night and we'll be stuck with her for at least two more episodes.
Can't disagree that Mystique needed to go last night. It was her time to go. And at least we won't have to watch her drop into a split anymore (one trick pony, anyone?)
Okay, that's my rambling. What did everyone else think?

I agree with you about Tyra as well as Mystique. They both need to go in my opinion. I'm not sure who my favorite is, but Raven blew me away with how beautiful he was last night. He didn't look as "scary" as he normally does. He actually looked pretty.

I was very good and did not get on this thread until after I watched the show tonight. While Tyra didn't deserve to go home (even thought I can't stand her) I don't think she should've won. I think Jessica should have. She did a great job with the commercial and had a great country look.
While Raven looked good on the runway, all I could think of was Will Farrell from "Elf" saying "He's a very angry elf". Raven's a very angry Queen.
I thought Pandora's jeans were adorable and her facial expressions were priceless during the eating competition. And she's just nice and funny.

Yes, Mystique needed to go (what was with that "country" outfit). Still don't have a favorite yet. Pandora Box, Sonique, and Raven are front runners. A bit off topic, but related...
A couple I know are in the Keys for a vacation right now. They went to see their first show this past weekend. The called me night before last to ask about the "mindset" of a drag queen.
The mindset???? Yes. They wanted to know how hard it is to easily move between genders...
I told them I had no clue.

I liked this week's show, too....and I'm really pleased with Pandora's showing...she seems to be doing well in competitions, staying out of the nonsense, and is getting just enough face time to make her interesting. I have high hopes that she's a dark horse to make it to the very end.
I WAS disappointed that the judges (specifically Santino) don't seem to get Pandora's style. I thought her outfit was fine. It was cute and it definitely said "country" (or at least the version of "country" that they were encouraged to go for)----and what's more, she pretty much made or embellished most of that outfit herself....which is more than I can say for all the queens who simply threw on a pair of jeans (or cut off jeans), an Ellie-Mae-from-the-beverly-hillbillies plaid shirt, cowboy boots and a cowboy hat. <<yawn>>>
Anyhow...beyond Pandora, my favorite in terms of looks is Raven...I thought she looked amazing this week on the runway....although her personality leaves MUCH to be desired, to be honest. I also like Tatianna and Jujubee. I can't STAND Morgan and I'm really hoping she gets the big "sashay away" very very soon.

Agreed. Raven needs to lighten up. And Jujubee cracks me up. On the subject of Pandora, I have the feeling that the judges feel the winner needs to be Super Glamour like Ru is. And Pandora seems to be a bit more down to earth and real. Maybe she can ramp up the glamour.

The funny thing about Pandora is that she USED to be way more glamour...she used to be a pageant queen and has had every title a queen can possibly have up this way....but she's been doing drag a long time and I think has really settled into a more comfortable drag personality. It's unfortunate that this show doesn't ever really allow the queens to do what they do----because what Pandora is really good at is comedic drag numbers (she does this insane telephone number with hilarious lines from films & movies that's a classic here in Rochester) and impersonations or big production numbers. This show doesn't really ever give the queens an opportunity to show any of THAT kind of stuff off....which is odd since one of the primary prizes is the chance to headline the Absolute Vodka Pride Tour.....and I'm quite certain that when they send the winner around the country performing at Pride Festivals and parades all over the US...they won't be asking her to eat fried bull testicles on stage....or simply walk around in a "country themed outfit"....they'll want her to put together a fierce & entertaining show. :confused3

My two favorites so far are Pandora and yes Tyra.
Tyra has a great style and is creative, but she REALLY needs to work on the attitude. She's got that "20 going on 50" cynical outlook that needs help, but her "transforming" runway costume was great.

He was a total tool on Project Runway too! Not to mention a no-talent hack. He even admits in the Absolut commercial that his goal was to be a "star" not a world class designer. He's nothing more than a fame *****.

OMG. We hated Santino on Project Runway AND his stupid baby doll dresses. The man can't even design.
Give me Christian and his FIERCE! Ten times the designer Santino will ever be. Daniel (the one who didn't win, the year Chloe did) was incredible too.
Don't know who Santino is favoring with his "charms" but that's the only way he's getting air time. :confused3

Pandora got ROBBED tonight!
She was spot on! Perfect! It all comes back to Santino not liking her fashion style. Who cares? His personal style looks like he went dumpster diving to dress himself!
I thought Tatiana was good as Britney, but Pandora's Carol Channing was fantastic!
And on a side note, after the discussion of names for Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence on another thread, it strikes me that these ladies have some of the WORST drag names EVER!
"Tyra Sanchez"? Lame! "Nicole Page Brooks"? Yawn. "Morgan McMichaels"? Is that his real name as a boy, too? "Mystique Summers Madison"? What the heck?
"Pandora Box" is clever. "Raven" is pretty good given that it fits what we've seen of her "character" and "Sonique" is fairly good.
But on the whole, the drag names are horribly uninspired.
I was all over the board last night. The show itself led me in one direction, but that little half-hour show yanked me in another!
Morgan being nice and helping Tatiana?! Way to go Morgan! Oh wait... she's not so nice after all. Booo!
Raven (still my favorite... I think) looking amazing?! GO RAVEN!!! Oh wait... her attack of Tatiana's Britney was ridiculous. Booo!

I don't watch the "untucked" show. Mainly because they've put that Robert Verdi trainwreck in between the two shows, and once the main show is over, I turn off the TV and forget to go back. So I've got no idea what happened "backstage".
I just think Pandora deserved the win this week no matter what.

Agreed I love Pandora's Carol. Tatiana is starting to bug me, where nothing makes her happy and she just gripes about everything. By the end of the two shows last night her voice was getting on my nerves.

And that comment Sonique made to Tatiana about her look being tired? This coming from Sonique after that dreadful Gaga performance and whilst wearing a lame tiger print gown! Talk about the pot and the kettle!
In all fairness, Sonique did apologize for it, but still.
I do have to disagree with the group here though and say that I was glad they gave the win to Tatiana for her Britney. That "I got lost" line was classic!

In the hopes that people would stick around to see Untucked and just leave his hot mess of a show on until the next show.
It's a clear (and desperate) ploy to get people to tune into his crapfest, and I refuse to be manipulated into watching it.

Oh totally. It just amazes me that they would plop that hot mess between the two. I guess it really is true: desperate times DO call for desperate measures!
EDITED TO ADD: Last night's episode of his show was the first one I'd seen. As much as I want to defend it, I can't. Does anyone remember his show on the Discovery Channel a million and one years ago where he and this blonde woman with short hair would go around doing home makeovers? He was so funny on that!

I like Tatiana but come on Pandora's Channing was THE best of all of them. I don't know how Tatiana's Britney won. She had the lines, but not the look. Pandora had both. Hmph.
Can't stand Morgan, so wish she'd gone.
I also was amused when Rupaul asked JuJuBee her inspiration for comedy and she said the death of her father. Which I totally got, but Rupaul didn't know what to say.
And I like Jessica, she's so sweet.

AMEN! I'm glad I'm joining this conversation late (I was away at a work conference and wasn't accessing the boards and didn't even get to watch the show until last night).....but I'm glad someone else said it first. Pandora was absolutely robbed. Tatianna was a close second, but Pandora met the challenge head on and should have been rewarded.
And as for Santino----what a useless oxygen thief! :rotfl2: I agree----who CARES what his fashion sense for Pandora, or anyone else, is since he's such a trainwreck himself?!?! And please....I am still scarred by some of the hideodeous (yes, that IS a "Wicked" reference! :lmao:) things he created on his season of Project Runway----remember the AWFUL "deer inspired" underwear collection in "homage" to Heidi Klum? Remember the MONSTROUS "firebird" skating costume he created for Sasha Cohen?! UGH! I do, however, love that Merle Ginsberg keeps trying to get him to process the fact that he clearly just doesn't understand what a drag queen is supposed to be:
Santino: "It almost seems like Pandora's more comfortable when she's playing a character and dressed up."
Merle: "She's a DRAG QUEEN!"
:lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao:
Amen, sister-friend, Amen!:thumbsup2
OY....anyhow....the longer I watch, the more I'm suspecting the show is shooting itself in the foot. If it's point is to find a drag queen who will put together amazing entertaining numbers worthy of touring pride festivals all over the country and sponsored by Absolut, they're going about the eliminations (and some of the challenges) the wrong way. I mean----i actually do hate Sonique's personality.....but I feel pretty certain that throngs of drunk queers in the Castro in SF or Church Street in Toronto or in Chelsea in NYC would be really entertained by watching her skinny, flexible, scantily clad body flip all over the place during a number on stage at Pride! :worship::worship:-----far more entertaining than watching Tyra do the dullest Beyonce impersonation ever or Jessica doing WHATEVER that crazy RuPaul impersonation was! :lmao:

She needs to be taken down. She should have been sent home ages ago, and she WINS? What's up with that?
I think Raven got robbed.
And I think Sahara looked AWFUL during the lip-synch for your life competition.

Okay, I was thinking about this on the way in to work.
You know that with all the heavy duty cosmetics, and wig accessories in that room, there's GOT to be spirit gum, and probably liquid latex adhesive.
With those things available, what kind of IDIOT hot glues lace to thier skin?
At the very least, use the double sided tape that keeps dresses and swimsuits from moving around (and you KNOW the've got that in there, too.)
I'm surprised all those lacey things (which i thought were ugly, by the way) even stayed on. Hot glue doesn't typically work well on leather or vinyl as I recall, I'd imgaine it's not very effective on skin, either.
Yeah. Tyra's GOT TO GO!

Yeah I wasn't even gonna post about last night's episode because I was so entirely underwhelmed by it. I wasn't in love with anything anyone did...although Raven was clearly probably the best......and the Tyra thing is a joke. Not only is she stupid for hot-gluing stuff to her skin....but she's a ridiculous witch. Either they are doing some VERY creative editing of the show to make her look bad or she is the most deluded person alive. Seriously, that room they get ready in is FULL of mirrors but she clearly can't see her own reflection----How could she NOT notice that she was the only person prancing about like a wierdo, waving toilet paper (or was that fabric?:lmao:) over her head and squealing like a pig (I thought it was very generous for the other contestants to even call what she was doing "singing" since it sounded more like an animal being tortured). For her to claim that she didn't realize she was being annoying OR doing it intentionally is either a demonstration of how stupid and oblivious she is OR a demonstration of what a manipulative liar she is----or both! Ugh...I can't believe we're stuck with her for 2 more weeks.....and what's even more disturbing is that with so few contestants left, here immunity next week guarantees that better contestants will end up lip syncing for their life and probably going home!:headache:

Oh, please! The crying was just another manipulative game she's playing. She knew durned well that she was annoying everyone in the room. That was her goal.
And getting upset and crying because they called you a "b-word"? Give me a break? I've never EVER met a drag queen that wasn't proud to be one of those. And they all tend to be "if you don't like me, that's YOUR problem."
Ms. Tyra's skin isn't that thin, she's working the other contestants for her own gain.

So happy I found this thread! I love Drag Race, I've been addicted since season one (and Nina Flowers was definitely my favorite!).
I totally agree with everything that's been said so far. I've been cheering on Pandora since Day 1, and think Tyra needs to sashay. I also loved Morgan McMichaels, partially because of the whole "face-against-the-glass" look. I always seem to go for men like that in real life (as a straight woman). He and his husband, as I believe he referred to him last night, are quite the attractive couple I'd say!
Now that Morgan has sashayed unfortunately, I'm pulling for Pandora all the way, with Raven and Jujubee in close second. Can't wait for next week!

Yeah i have to be honest...it seems like SEVERAL of the challenges or episodes have tried really hard to feature some of Ru's more recent music (didn't they lipsync to "don't be jealous of my boogie" at one point, which is also always played during the closing credits....and they did their burlesque to "tranny chaser" or something like that).....and unfortunately I just don't think ANY of Ru's recent tracks are very good at all!

So all you folks from Orlando-----is Tyra blowing up there? Like are they making a big deal out of her being on the show or no? Pandora's HUUUGE here-----news stories in the gay and mainstream press, on TV, etc. and one of the bars where she works opens up on Monday nights now (they're usually closed, as are many bars) and they do a quick drag show, featuring Pandora (of course) and some other queens, project the show while it airs up on a big screen and then after the program the queens do another show and Pandora does a brief Q&A about that week's episode (without, obviously, releasing any spoilers for future weeks). It's very past my bedtime (:happytv:) so I have never been but I heard she's been drawing a great crowd------of course, as biased as I am, I think Rochester has a bit more to be PROUD of in Pandora than Orlando does in Tyra-----but I was curious how the Orlando queer community has been since the show started.

:lmao::lmao: Well that's kind of what I was getting at when I said I think we in Rochester have "more to be proud of" in Pandora! ;) If it's any consolation, one of Pandora's best friends (who used to own one of the most successful gay bars here in Rochester where Pandora really got her start in drag many years ago) is the owner/founder of the Voodoo Lounge in Ft. Lauderdale---which is apparently a really big and very popular/successful club that does drag shows on sunday nights. Pandora has frequently over the years been a guest performer there and, at one point, I think was even considering relocating permanently....so if you don't want to claim Tyra....you can HALF claim Pandora as a Floridian! ;)

I'm surprised to hear Orlando doesn't have a gay neighborhood for a city that size. Of course neither does Rochester but for a small city we do pretty well with the gay community. THere's a great gay radio show on Fridays here in Orlando (www.thehomohappyhour.com). I chat with the host quite a bit on Facebook, and one thing we've talked about is the Orlando gay community.
The Orlando community is very..clique-ish. I think it has to do with the very transient population we have here in town.
OrlandoMike
03-16-2010, 09:59 PM
Orlando has a lot of things going against it.
Mostly the town is divided into a few areas.
You have the park people, these are people who just move here to work for Disney, they live near the parks.
You have the seasoned Vet's....they live in the suburbs.
And you have the people who want to live "downtown"...close to the clubs.
The problem is the only good clubs are miles away from each other, and not really conducive to where anyone lives. And quite frankly, are not in the best part of town.

I guess we're lucky to have the community that we have here in Dallas. A very distinct historical gay district with lots of bars, gay owned restaurants, coffee shops, stores. The area is changing and even growing a lot lately. Lots of condo's and new apt's which is bringing a new group of people, but they're all very gay friendly and love the atmosphere. Now there's a beautification project going on, adding cobble stone sidewalks, gas lights, park benches, archways. They even now have trade nights, sidewalk sales, stree art fairs. Zeit, I REALLY miss Cedar Springs! And Scott was living in West Hollywood before we moved here. Neither of us realized how much a centralized gayborhood really solidifies the gay community, even those who don't live in it.
They even now have trade nights.
I remember there being some nights with a lot of trade on the streets before, too. :rotfl2:

This group of queens is really weak. :sad2: I started hating Raven because of his personality, but he wound up having one of the better personalities out of the bunch. I like her the best because she doesn't have to try as hard as the others to create an entertaining character and to be funny.
I think the others don't have a personal identity yet as far as their queendom goes. Pandora Boxx is great when she's acting/being humorous, but when she's playing "Pandora" she's extremely boring....with bad clothes.
Tatianna annoys me because she's still in that "I'm 17 and I know everything and I'm extremely important" phase, despite her refusal when getting accused of this. Hey....if the shoe fits. (Girl.....stop playing with your hair! It's not real!)
I like Jujubee, but she just keeps completely missing the mark for most of the challenges. I'd like to see her go further, but if she doesn't "bring it" she's going to get voted off for not trying hard enough.
That's all I have for now. princess:princess:princess:

I cannot believe that they sent Pandora Boxx home before No Talent Tyra and Tacky Tatiana!
Seriously? They penalized her for how well she and Litter Boxx worked together on stage? It made complete sense for them both to be funny, and she was "showcasing" the work she'd done on the makeover, so of course the "mother" got to be funny, too.

I was disappointed in how last nights episode turned out. Although the funny thing, was in the middle of the show, we paused our DVR and I ran upstairs to grab my cell phone. I looked and saw I had like 15 emails. I didn't pay attention to the title and read your response about Pandora being sent home. I came downstairs and was laughing telling Steven that I accidently found out how's going to leave. He's like, "DON'T TELL ME!". It's what I get for reading emails. :)
I was sad to see her go. Tyra and Tatianna heed to be GONE. I'm honestly not sure why they're still there, only for the fact that they cause a lot of drama and the networks like that. Who knows.
JuJubee still makes me laugh, love her look but she honestly isn't very consistent. Raven is my fav. I was hoping it was going to come down to Raven and Pandora.

Every time she opens here mouth one of three things comes out:

I'm so glad someone posted this link. Obviously I"m biased but I'm really upset that Pandora got the "sashay away." I knew it happened this week but didn't get a chance to watch the episode until yesterday afternoon and once I actually saw it I just entirely disagree with the decision. I am, however, proud of Pandora (who I'm thrilled to call my friend) for leaving with her head held high, keeping her sense of humor about her and staying true to herself. The interview with Feast boys (who I had the pleasure of meeting this past summer in Chicago when they came to a workshop I was leading about a project I'm writing with some colleagues called "The Bottom Monologues") was excellent and really is a great listen and will let people get to know 'Dora even better than they already do.
Also...for those of you out there who are 'Dora fans (or would we be called "Boxxheads"? :lmao:), go to www.rupaulsdragrace.com and vote for her or Miss Congeniality (it's on the right hand side about halfway down the page), so that we can give her the props she clearly deserves! I definitely believe that Raven is out to win it and is very calculating. The whole bit about how rewarding the "drag mama" episode was, I believe, intended to sway the judges. She is very focused.
I was rooting for Pandora but it was very apparent from the start from the judges reactions that Pandora Boxx was a loong shot.
Can't wait to see what she will have to say on the reunion show, even though she is extremely mindful of everything that she says and does so as not to jeopardize her future career.

I agree. There were a couple of things on the regular show that struck me that Raven wasn't particularly fond of Pandora. One was the blatant "She's not Drag Superstar material on the last episode" and the other was a few episodes ago when some of the queens were voicing their frustration over Tyra to the judges. When they said something to Raven, she was like, no problems and pretty much "tsk, tsking" those that spoke. That was the week that Raven probably should have won and Tyra did so she was pissed, while I do think Raven should have won, it was kind of funny.

Ya know Mike, you called it a couple of weeks ago. And I'm thinkin' nahh. But you know what I think you're right and Tyra may go all the way.
At this point if JuJu doesn't win I want Tyra to win. I know I said differently a couple of weeks ago but Raven seems mean and I don't like the way she trashes Pandora so I change my vote and it would be sweet justice if Trya wins.
I would be happiest if Raven and Juju melded into one person and then beat Tyra to death with a giant black patent leather pump. I wouldn't have a problem with either of them winning, although I think I still want Raven to take it all.
That said--and don't get me wrong, I hate Tyra--Tyra didn't suck as much as we might have wanted her to.

I watched the whole 90 minute extravaganza last night----finale, untucked, reunion---and stayed up past my bedtime. I have to admit that I was kinda disappointed with the reunion show. Not extremely interesting. Of course I was thrilled that my girl won Miss Congeniality (I only voted for her like 50,000 times LOL)----and I think that some of the girls did have some really endearing moments. Pandora talking about her father passing away from cancer---which actually happened while the show was airing....I think just a little bit before the wedding episode aired when Martha Wash was judging......and I thought Sonique's coming out about her trans identity was impressive....and some of the fireworks directed at Raven about her nastiness had voyeur appeal....but otherwise I didn't think it was all that exciting.

Pandora knows that the show, win or lose (and probably BECAUSE she lost), has been an amazing launching pad for her. She is back in Rochester for a bit and I had a chance to hang out with her and talk about her experience when she came to spend time with my LGBTQ youth at a "Day of Silence" rally we held here on April 16th. She couldn't give me any spoilers about what happened (even though at that point she had already filmed the reunion show even), but she has an amazing attitude about her experience and she has gained so much visibility around the country and so many opportunities have opened up for her. She is in the cast of RuPaul's "Drag U" (which they started promoting last night during the finale and reunion show and are already promoting on Logo's website) and unconfirmed rumors are out there that there are talks about other future TV appearances----both on Logo shows and on mainstream network shows. Obviously Entertainment Weekly loved her....but she's the darling of Sirius Radio, the Feast of Fun guys and a bunch of other amazing LGBT and mainstream media outlets. She has bookings in the next several months all over the country which is amazing for her....and when I spoke to her, she and her partner are considering moving out to the L.A. area permanently because so many doors have opened up for her. It's really incredible to see her star finally on the rise because she has been one of the hardest working queens in our area for a long time----very active, always putting herself out there, very supportive of the community. It's nice to see her rewarded so....
....and I love that I can say I knew her when!! :thumbsup2

I had never heard of Tyra before and I live in Orlando, but she doesn't perform at the Parliament House so I wasn't surprised. I'm sure that now the final episode has run all the gay mags and directories in Orlando will be promoting her and the club she performs out (Pulse I think is the club...).

Oh, and I'm so happy Pandora Boxx won Miss Congenialty. Her Drag Race dress for the reunion show was fabulous!

Yeah, Tyra performs at Pulse. I've been there a few times, and they just a had a big rehab. It's a good place, and more laid back than you would expect since it's a mostly younger crowd than P-House

Yeah, the young crowd is what keeps me away from most of the smaller bars. I like Wylde's because it's nice and (usually) quiet. Usually there on underwear night. I hit the PH whenever there's a show or celeb performing at the Footlights Theater.

Yup, Mike was right.
I was kind of disappointed in the Reunion Show too. But oh well. I'm very happy for Pandora and agree that being on the show was probably the best thing that could happen for her career.
Oh well, 'til next season. I'll have to look for Drag U.

P.S.
IMHO Santino is a weenie. Again, this wasn't Project Runway!

Yeah, actually that was one of my other major disappointments----I wish Pandora (or anyone) would have pointed out to Santino (and Ru) that this was a DRAG competition, NOT a fashion competition-----there are are already plenty of fashion reality shows on TV that are marginally successful. Drag is supposed to be about PERFORMANCE, not about being a runway model or having the most "fashion sense." On another blog I was following about this show on another site someone else pointed out that there are tons of fierce amazing fabulous famous and successful queens who don't have the kind of "fashion sense" or "sense of style" that would have pleased Santino probably (think LypSynka, Lady Bunny, Hedda Lettuce, etc.) but are amazing because they are good performers and entertaining----which someone like Pandora had in spades over Tyra Sanchez. Or even look at last year's cast and the way that Santino constantly attacked and went after Chanel----who is arguably one of the most gorgeous queens in the history of queens and a fierce performer but he was never able to look past her clothing. BAH----I'm really hoping they decide to cut his sorry behind before season 3 and find a judge who actually knows something about DRAG!!

I always thought it was spelled "kai-kai"
oh..and by the way....*GAG* (there's needs to be an emoticon of "dry heaving"......the notion of anything related to Santino's adult desires would be an excellent use of such an emoticon! :lmao:)

It probably is spelled Kai-Kai. And I agree with the *GAG*
Santino is well on his way to being a creepy old man.

Well he's already a creepy middle aged man and he was probably a creepy young man....heck, he was probably a creepy child! (And doesn't he always look like he kinda smells, too? Like you wouldn't wanna be stuck in the back seat on a long road trip with him? :rotfl2:)

Absolutely agree about Santino. I really, really dislike that nasty bugger.
As for Pandora, I'm still miffed that she didn't win. :snooty:

Once again, the Project RunGay boys have summed up my feelings perfectly.
Here's their recap of the finale and reunion: http://tomandlorenzo2.blogspot.com/2010/04/rpdr-s2-finalereunion.html
A couple of highlights:
We're going to repeat something that's been all over the twitterverse and commentverse today: We would pay good money to see Jujubee or Pandora perform. We can't imagine why anyone would pay to see Tyra. What exactly would she do, anyway? Wear outfits? That's not drag. That's modeling.
Commenting on JuJuBee's reaction to getting kicked in the eye with a stiletto:
"Do I look fine? If I look fine I'll keep going."
That right there is exactly why she should have won. That could be the Drag Queen Credo.
I hope RuPaul reads their blog and takes it to heart, because the boys NAILED it!
