We just came from our annual derby and it is so much fun. They haven't had the Powder Puff heat in a while or I just might try it.
I could get in there with the guys, but I'd feel silly being the only person needing a step ladder to get into my car. lol
It was a pretty dry track tonight so the cars were going pretty fast. There were lots of cars knocked out of the ring. One car was dangling like a see-saw over the logs. lol
Anyone else like them?

Have you ever been able to be in one? My dh did one year and I was a nervous wreck. He's usually the pit crew for a friend of ours.
When his car caught fire I went nuts. lol Well, as nuts as mild mannered me would get. ;)
NO ...I like to watch them though..If i had the chance to be in one, I would...:) ...

Most county fairs have them. I'm sure KY has some somewhere. :)
At any rate, we usually have a car in Hendricks county fair derby every year. It's in Danville, IN.
We usually have 2 or 3 of them a year, but i never know about them until its too late...Hope to take dd's to one this year ..:)

I've taken my girls since they were babies. I usually had to go home early, but oh well.
I think my daughter will be in it next year. I'm freaking, but she'll have a blast.

Glad you had a good time and the weather actually cooperated with you!
Do you ever go to the combine or other farm implement derbys?

Claudia, I've been to tracker pulls, but derbys? I can't say that I have. What are they like?

I went to one and the next meet I was in one.... What a hoot. I did pretty good, outta 10 cars I held on for 4th place (which got nothing, but the thrill)
Nothing like going full steam BACKWARDS and plowing into someone.
BTW I have never told my hubby this.... he thinks I am a great driver.....and I want to keep it that way! :)

The only farm implement derby that I have seen was a combine derby. Those big things can't go very fast and it was a bit boring.
Kinda like watching sumo wrestling on wheels.

I love them.
I really want to see a School Bus Race/Derby or the boat trailer race/derby. They have them at the New Smyrna Speedway close to Orlando. They never seem to be happening when I'm in town though.

Love em...
We used to have a car....a team effort with a bunch of friends (DH was the mechanic, I was responsible for the paint job :p ) We did endurance/demo races though....usually 100 lap races with 100 or more cars on the track at once. Riverside Park in Agawam, MA had an awesome figure-8 track before Six Flags bought them out and ripped out the track :( We also raced at Waterford Speedway in CT.
Riverside had the school bus derbys....they were a riot, like a bunch of lumbering dinosaurs out there

LOL
I can't imagine school bus derbys. Sheesh, when the middle is crushed beyond repair, cut off the damaged part and weld the two ends together. lol Oh my that would be fun!!!

I enjoy them! Need to take a break from the opera once in a while.... ;)
During Fall Fair time, lots of nearby towns have them. We try to get to at least one, they're fun! :)
You go Laurabearz!!

We just had our county fair. They had Demolition derby Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights, with a Saturday matinee. I was working the gate where the cars came in. DS went with his grandparents 2 nights. A woman won the whole thing. They announced that next year the Saturday matinee would be mini vans. Should draw the ladies. LOL
