We're pretty new to the neighborhood...only been here eight months and don't really know all the neighbors yet, including the ones on our right. Today, they had some kind of party. Quite a few people over...nice get-together. All afternoon, it was quiet. At around 10:00, they decided they needed music...very LOUD music...and a sing-along with the very LOUD music! It's been going, non-stop since. Our bedroom is in the back of the house...perfect seat for the concert nextdoor! My DH has to work tomorrow...I wonder how they would like it if he blasted the speakers out the window, towards their house, at 6am? Thanks for listening!:D

I've got a pair next door to me also. Every year for the guy's birthday I think everyone who ever had their car repaired by him in the previous year must go to his birthday party. At 2 and 3 a.m. the music is blasting and they're jumping in the pool.  I wish he'd have a quiet birthday! And he's on the Board in our development!!!!

Ouch! I guess you can look at the bright side, that its not an every night thing. A couple Saturdays ago we had a similar situation. Our bedroom faces the back yard, which then turns into the back yards of other houses on another street. One of them had a party that got pretty loud around bedtime. I didnt really mind, since they dont usually do stuff like that, but their next door neighbor(an older guy) was up mowing his lawn at 8:30am! LOL! He must have been trying to get revenge. ;)

Oh Sharon I can sympathize with you as we're going through a similar situation! We've even spoken to the "family" and they still want to sit out (about 10 ft from our bedroom window) and laugh and chat it up until the wee hours. My DH works 12 hour shifts (days and nights) AND weekends and is up for day shift at 4:30 AM! Why can't people be more considerate of others?:(

Sammi, you should record their conversation and give them the tape...that might change their minds about sitting out and chatting all night :)

I know it can be annoying, but if they are otherwise good neighbors and they only do this once or twice a year, I'd probably cut them some slack. If, on the other hand, this is a weekly thing, then

This is why DH will not even consider EVER living in a subdivision. I grew up in one but have adjusted to "country" living.

P.S. Why is the theme song to "Green Acres" running through my head.

They have only had two parties, since we moved in, so I can't complain too much. I just don't know why they insist on playing the music so loud, especially that late. They finally called it quits about 1am...not too bad, I guess.

There are laws against that. You could always call the police. Some people in our neighborhood got fed up and called them on the 4th of July on my lovely neighbors. I was glad we were on vacation so they couldn't think we did it! (especially when the health department inspector I called shows up this week! UGH!)
