Hi all :)
We're a couple from the U.K and absolutely LOVE Florida, taking our 4th trip in 4 years in May 2010 ;) We'll no doubt be back in 2011 and we're wondering if any couples here have had a ceremony in Florida?
We would LOVE to start arranging, but not too sure where to start.
Any hints and tips would be fab! :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Rob and Scott had theirs at Disney, if you search you can find the "Big Fat Gay Wedding" thread somewhere in here :thumbsup2

You are aware that it will be a commitment ceremony only, not a legal or binding wedding? FL is one of the states that do not allow gay marriage.

Congratulations!
You'll allow me a little chuckle, please? We have dear, dear friends in the UK (south England) who are after us to go THERE, for the same reason! :teeth:
If you don't want your ceremony at WDW, there is a lovely little beach cottage place on Cocoa Beach owned by "family." It would be a lovely place too, and not nearly as costly as WDW.

Welcome and Congratulations!
You've already been directed to my planning journal/trip report/rambling nonsense thread, so you know that we had our Big Fat Gay Disney Wedding at WDW. Totally worth it, and if we had the chance to do it over, we would. If it's what you want, I completely recommend it! It's awesome!
If you've got any questions, let us know, this group is great at helping each other with stuff like that.
Also, check out the Wedding and Honeymoon forum here on the DIS. It's a great resource, and I got a lot of great information and ideas from the DisBrides over there.

my darling and i are getting married at disney dec 28th, its not that expensive - the escape wedding is all inclusive minus what you wear and is only about 5k . considering most weddings cost 35 on average, its not bad. and you can always get the license in mass and then drive to FL for the ceremony. thats what we plan to do :D

They're from the UK, so I'd imagine that they'd do the legal "Union" that they've got available there first and have the "Wedding" at Disney.
Escape Weddings are a super option if you've got 18 guests or fewer!:thumbsup2
Even when you decide to go with a bigger guest list, the Disney option isn't neccessarily the most expensive option. We had 90 guests, premium ceremony and reception locations and an full buffet dinner with an open bar and still came in below the national average for a 75-100 wedding.
Plus all of our guests are still raving about it. We constantly get "it was the best wedding we've ever been to" comments from friends and family who were there. Most of them stayed for at least a mini-vacation and some even stayed for more than a week and really took advantage of the special room rates we had for our guests.
Every way we've looked at it before and after, it really was the best way to go.

You could have the ceremony in EPCOT, either at the Canada or Norway pavilion, since in both of those countries same-sex marriage is legal. :)
Congrats to you both!

I know you can do those sorts of things, because a couple I know had their reception in the American pavilion.
You'll have to have it after hours of course, but it would be cool!
