I am in the midst of closing on my first DVC resale contract. I have a cash ressie in a few weeks. Assuming closing is done by the time I go to WDW and assuming I dont get my DVC ID card (which I hear can take upto 30 days after closing) can I still get a discounted AP? Is there a way they can check to see I am a DVC member when I am trying to buy the ticket?

If you are in the system, you can go to the Preview Center @ SSR and get a membership card.

When I got my AP renewal last month, they took my card and keyed my member # into the computer. So they need the number, I guess to verify that you are still a member.

Our November 09 trip I had a Will Call voucher, but forgot my membership card at home. The CM was able to call MS and verify I was a member. I would have been out of luck if MS was closed.

Most of the time. Last year, I'd forgotten my DVC card at the hotel (dumb me,I know). Guest Services at AK was very nice about looking things up. Took a few minutes, but fortunately no one else was waiting. Can't guarantee that will happen. But,boy, did I count my blessings and thank the CM profusely.

Before I got my blue cards, I had a temp card. I also took a copy of my front page of my contract with my name, address, and number on it. I had no problem getting my (our) APs. As others have said, they do have to key in your membership number during the transaction.
