View Full Version : The $200 bottle of glue!

This morning, I ran out to the local ACM (with my 40% off coupon!) for a bottle of the Scotch Quick Dry adhesive Z2H and I love. We've pretty much used up our last bottle on swaps and I need more to keep going. That's REALLY all I went for.
Well...I did get my glue -- the shelf sticker said $3.99, but it rang in at 4.49...same old story with my ACM, but I didn't complain....
Because they were having a clearance on their Sizzix dies! I have a Cuttlebug, but know how to use the Sizzix dies in it - thanks to Google and YouTube.
I was going to take a picture of my haul, but SOME people may see some of these items in their Valentine's gifts, Easter baskets, etc..... :rotfl2: so I won't put a photo up! A huge collection of dies were marked down to between $1 and $5. I spent (gulp!) $190 on dies - the regular price would have totalled $651. (Of course, none of us would EVER pay full price for the dies...!...but my savings was 70.8% off. That's in my "too good to pass up deal" territory!) I got regular Sizzix dies, Bigz (regular and 3D ones), Sizzlits (singles, sets, and the 12" long strip ones), and Sizzix paper stacks. I also grabbed the long skinny extender plates to use on the Cuttlebug for the long die strips - they were 40% off this week. There were many many more dies and sets I didn't get that they had - couple of alpha sets, lots of Christmas and Halloween dies, paper doll types, and baby ones. (This was in Somerville, MA, if anyone sort-of-local wants to check it out.)
Ok - so I guess I'm officially off the wagon - in fact, I think the Ban Wagon ran over me! DH just thinks it is funny and wants to see what I make from them.

Good for you!!! Not really off the wagon, as it left you behind in the dust, but i like your DH's reasoning - think of all you 'll make with them!!! Seeing as how you are so disciplined with your spending and saving, you are easily absolved!!! :thumbsup2

And how does all this mayhem and foolishness help you simplify????
Can you tell I'm watching Clean House??
;)Gosh darn it all...i hate when glue doesn't ring up at the right price...

Yes, Miss Niecy, I can tell!
Ummmmm...I'll get back to you about your first question!
Got it!
I told DH that I was now all set for VD, Easter, Mother's Day, etc. and didn't have to shop (much). He inquired sweetly, "Exactly up to what year... 2015?" Such a guy!

Snicker, that's my kind of glue!
But now I'm stamping my foot and whining! "Why doesn't my ACM have those good prices like yours?" :sad1:

I KNOW!!!! (channeling Craig Ferguson) Love it! :lovestruc
Actually, we just lopped a day off our CKC-Manchester hotel stay - saving about $150. Playing with all these fun new toys - and my spendy glue! - will be much more fun than giving that money to the Radisson just to sleep...ya know?
As I use a bit of financial sleight-of-hand among the budget envelopes to cover my crazy little spree of today...:rolleyes1...wish me luck!

I LOVE CLEAN HOUSE!!! But I really want to see them organize and still let the crafty girls keep ALL their stuff. I mean, making the scrapbooker condense to like 1 tote? You know she went out the very next day and rebought everything AT FULL PRICE!!!
Anyway, I think if it falls into the "too good to pass up" category, and your DH is OK with it, then that wagon driver just might want to consider pulling over for a bit till you can catch up again... :teeth:
and yay :yay: for your DH! A true crafty hubber! Mine is the same way  But then again, I support all his hobbies too, and his have been WAY more expensive than mine!

To which my response to Niecy would be, um no! I purge my stuff quite often so it's someone else's turn!

Yeah, no crafter would ever call the stash "foolishness and mayhem... "
Miss Niecy Nash needs a hobbie just so she can relate...
You would *nevah* see my crafty stuff out on the tarp for pricing... But I do have to purge a bit. DH *helped* last weekend, and my things are in a big pile now.. sigh... but tomorrow is another day (channeling my inner Scarlet)...

Oh, DH knows not to touch my stuff, evah! He'd come home to a house void of all his things.

Ok - I'll see what I can do - but you gotta keep quiet about it to you-know-who! (You know, the one whose inheritance I'm spending!) Camera seems to be on the blink, too - ugh.
I kept thinking of you as I was tossing these into my basket today..."Look they're only five bucks. FIVE BUCKS!"
This ACM usually doesn't have great clearances, although this WAS the one I got lucky at last year with the Stickles. :rolleyes1 The manager said this was all her stock, but there were strange address-type stickers on a few of the package backs that said they were from the ACM in Manchester, NH. ???

Not working so great!

Which one were you at Woburn or Everett ... just wondering which one I might hit tomorrow?
Oh and you shouldn't worry about an inheritance. I've always joked with my parents as long as you don't leave me any debt, I'm happy! :D

Somerville - in Assembly Square (formerly mall, now...not sure!...shopping center?) It is less than a mile from the Mike's in Everett. (That's pretty much just over the bridge and around the corner.) Don't know if the Woburn ACM has the same deal going on... The two stores don't usually seem to be in sync with clearance items, but I'd be curious...
Holly - Mr. Crockett not thrilled with the idea...I'm SHOCKED! Driving about a hundred miles round trip to scrap shop...what's not to like???? (Good luck!)

That's the one I meant when I said Everett. I may swing by Woburn tomorrow. We shall see.

So I don't swear. Ever.
But tonight, after I heard what she did, I called my mom a beesh. (Literally "beesh," even in my rage I still didn't really swear.)
(Am I allowed to say that on the boards?)

So maybe I WON'T be sharing all the new toys...!
Forgot to mention - a biggie. If any of you do go to grab some of these, watch carefully when you check out. These were marked down considerably from the clearance prices in the store computer and virtually NONE of them rang up correctly with the clearance price stickers on the item.

I had that same prob with the prices at m's yesterday.
So mr Crockett won't take me for a drive up there to get some.
I don't know why. It would make me so happy!
Behave z2h !!!!!

While, thank heavens!
Z2H and I hit the Dream yard sale this a.m. (LSS) - only spent a tiny bit and got stuff to finish off my swaps (DITs and AYMs). I did get a Sizzix (can't imagine why I'd need one of these!):lmao: and the system converter and plates, seven dies, etc. for $15. It duplicates our Cuttlebug, but for $15.....couldn't leave it there. I can always resell it if we decide not to keep it.
There was an ATG gun for $10 - it KILLED me not to grab it, but we already have three...:rolleyes1

OHHHHH, I really want an ATG gun!
Congrats on all the good finds!
