View Full Version : Wizarding World of Harry Potter Super Bowl Ad UPDATE: Ad is leaked; watch it on blog

Wow, Universal really seems to be ramping up for the opening of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. There was the 3D map in this week's USAToday, new photos of the castle released, and they also will have a new Super Bowl ad.

Anyone see this in the NY Times? Remember Universal Orlando's last Super Bowl Ad? Last year they gave away a free theme park ticket! Yeah, somehow I don't think they will be doing that for the Wizarding World of Harry Potter.

Is the "Wizarding World of Harry Potter" at Universal an additional "land" or is it a theme park all it's own? I was under the impression that it was a "land" but a friend has been insisting that it's a theme park. :wizard:

Its definitely an Island at Islands of Adventure and not a whole theme park

Can't wait!( check out my signature and photo) Wish there were a definitive date though. We're planning for the first week in June; hopefully it will be open then!

I'm interested to see the ad. I agree that it would be nice if it lives up to all of the hype. What we could see of the progress during our early January visit sure did look like Hogwarts.

Thanks for posting Dave and CorEy. Our family will be checking it out the weekend of June 18th - 21st. I've already booked a room on-site to beat the rush after the Super Bowl ad.

I wonder if this was a real leak or an on purpose leak by Universal? Usually the Super Bowl ads are kept under wraps until the Super Bowl, there is buzz out, but you usually don't see the whole commercial. Maybe there will be more than one?

I just watched the commerical and there was nothing special about it. I know many people are huge fans of the special effects when they fly on the broomsticks in the movie but I feel like it always looks a little cheesy to me. I am not a huge harry potter fan so maybe that is why I am missing the appeal. that being said Universal is doing something right because we have not gone to the studios in over 5 years but we do intend on going to universal this october to check all the new attractions out. I too hope its worth the hype only time will tell.

Islands of Adventure just re-themed the Lost Continent area. The Fire and Ice coaster is going to be the same but with a new dragon name, and the Flying Unicorn kiddie coaster has Hippogriffs as a theme. Other than that, the rest of it seems to be built from scratch.

I thought the ad looked pretty cheesy, too. I hope the Super Bowl ad is a little better, if this isn't the same ad!

Universal have been show ads in the UK for The Wizarding World of Harry Potter :)
