OK, first let me apologize. I know this has been covered like a million times, but I am still confused. DH and I have saved the money for this trip and it's in a savings account. We would really like to attempt to not put anything on our credit card (for this vacation). So, if we give the CR $1500 worth of travelers checks, can we still have room charging privileges, or do they have to be guaranteed with a credit card? Thanks so much for any help!

This is a great question! I'd love to hear the answer, too. Thanks for asking, AmyA! :D

In lieu of a credit card to provide room-charging ability ...

1) You can leave a cash deposit at check-in.
2) You can actually pre-pay the deposit prior to check-in.
3) Without a credit card, you can charge to the deposit amount.
4) Deposit can be cash, check, traveler cheque.

We always apply cash or traveler's checks for our room charges. You will not have to use a credit card if you don't want to. Last year, I signed over all of my traveler's checks and I charged against that balance. At the end of your stay, they will refund to you (in cash) any amount you still have in your balance. Kind of a nice way to let Disney hold your money during your stay, rather than carrying around large amounts of cash or traveler's checks.

REALLY! This is great news! I always hate carrying around too much cash or too many traveler's checks. I guess anyplace that could accept a credit card could accept the room/key card.:D

The only place you won't be able to use your room key to charge will be small street vendors - popcorn, ice cream bars, etc. Any place that uses a cash register for sales will be able to process your room card charge.

This will be our 4th year in a row to use this method - cash/traveler's checks - no credit card. It works great!!! We usually leave the room each morning with our room card and about $20 in cash. You can always stop at the front desk at any time and they'll print you out a list of your room charges and you'll know how much you have left to spend. It's as easy as that!

What we have done the last few years has worked out well too!

Before we leave, I mail our cc company a large payment, which will cover the room balance, rental cars, park passes, dinners, etc. This way I have minimal cash and travelors checks to carry with me, and I still earn the reward points on my cc. :):D:)
