Hi, I have been reading, and reading, and reading all of these threads on this site, and you have all given me so much information with out even knowing it. I received my sunshine today. My new camera. I live in Oklahoma and we are in the middle of an Ice storm and all I can think about is that maybe I will be able to take some great pics with my new camera! It came with the standard 18-55mm lens and I have a 58mm wide angle lens with the micro lens. I start a "How to learn your camera" class on Tuesday, but I can't wait that long. Do some of you think you can give me a little advise on what settings would be best to shoot outside in the white snow and ice. The storm will not end until tomorrow afternoon so I do have some time to read the manual and read more on this board unless we lose power. Hope you can help me, you all have the most amazing pictures... my goal is to at least be able to put up some pics on this board.

I'm in Norman and hope to grab some shots tomorrow. Too, um, precipitous to go outside today. That said, I still have my little Canon S3 from college, so I've nothin' for ya tips wise.

We'll be down at WDW for the holidays, too!! Haven't narrowed down our dates yet.

Yes we will be there on Dec 8th -15th. I am so glad to see another Disney friend so close. We went last Dec and it was wonderful. I am hoping to have my camera figured out by then. Have a great time tomorrow.

I live right off Sunnylane and 19th street in Moore, probably about 8 miles from you? I am taking a class from Coggins Photography here in Moore. He helps you learn your own camera, he really only does Canon. I am just a mom and Disney freak that wants to take better pictures of both. LOL:banana:

Glad to see some more great Oklahomans out on the DIS. Are you snowed in where you are?

Me too, It has been snowing so hard all day that I haven't been able to go out yet. I hope that it stops soon and I can go outside and get some pics.

No, I just did it from my front porch. :laughing: I tried to do it from the back, but the snow was pelting me in the face. :rotfl: Will have to try those pics later.

Try pre-setting the white balance when you go out....just a thought from another new guy to the DSLR world.

Actually, those don't look too yellow, considering your light source. I imagine if you get some of the snow now, you'll find your balance to be better. You can always correct with your processing software, too.

Thanks, I think my problem was I had it on a auto setting. I think it is going to stop snowing soon and and I go take some during the daylight. Have a great day!

I work for Norman Schools at the elementary level. I actually teach pre-k at FUMC Moore, though. Small world!

The crew is nearly caught up with the house; they've been building in this CRAP. The walk was Friday and and they were at one point several hours behind with the build. I'll see if I can find out if this week is Norman.

That is so funny, I have gotten several calls this morning, thinking they are coming to my house. I live right outside of the norman city line and I happen to have a daughter that is totally Deaf and Blind. I wish they would come to my house and build something for her that would be so cool! Maybe next time lol. If I don't see some sunshine soon I am going to forget what it looks like. If someone finds my lost sunshine, could you send me a picture of it HAHA:rotfl2:

Our 'reveal' is Wednesday, so I guess they'll be in your neck of the woods on Thursday - a week after ours started. the company i'm with is involved with the project, and we didn't find out our family until that day. (it was between just a few) I don't know if the family knew ahead of time or not.

My daughter's name is Timber and she has been such a gift from GOD! She makes you grateful for every moment you have and taking nothing for granted. She is the reason that we visit Disney every year. Disney is truly a magical place for her too. Hope you have a wonderful day tomorrow.
