I'm 99.9% sure we will be on this one as well! We initially booked a holiday cruise but we are moving it! It will be me, my hubby, our two boys 7 & 8, and my mother as she was very jealous after listening to the stories we just came home with! We are very excited about the new ship!

Add us to the list. We just got off our first cruise and loved it, so scheduled another one onboard. Right now, it's just us - me (Stacy), husband (John), DD (Amanda) 9 at time of cruise and DD (Katie) 7 at cruise time. We're trying to find friends or someone to come with us so we can share the fun. It looks like mid-West fest so far. We're from MN, too, and are tying this into fall break (MEA in my day). Can't wait to sail again and I'm looking forward to being at Castaway Cay when the water isn't frigid! Now that it's official and we have our room assignment, I have to get another trip calculator going. I just deleted our other one because it made me sad to see how many days it had been since we got home.:sad2:

We have our room assignment but cannot remember what it is right off the top of my head. We are at the back of the ship (which I have never been before). We have a veranda though which I think will be cool right off the very back of the ship. It is category 6.
The girls are super excited about the new kids areas (as am I). I need to think of good fish extender gifts as well this time. The girls love doing the fish extenders.
We have been in October before and the water is great!!! Only last year did we have 1 day that the weather was a bit chilly high 60's, but it was still sunny and beautiful.

My wife and I split our honeymoon in October between DCL and WDW and we had beautiful weather, mid 80's and sun the entire time on the Cruise. That was the 14th-18th of October.
The only time the weather was bad was the last day we were in the parks before going home. As for the storms the ships can generally move around to avoid them, or lessen the impact from what I have read.

Our last cruise was in early November. Hurricane season was still going on. You never know when severe weather can happen. The ship tracks things like that and let you know in advance if they will be leaving from a different port. We had perfect weather when we went in November. I looked a lot at the Weatherchannel website to track the weather.

October is at the tail end of hurricane season, so still possible to get one, but not as likely as earlier in the season. They say that boats are one of the safest places to be if there's a hurricane because they can move. We took out separate trip insurance and did it within the 21 day window after putting our deposit down on the cruise, so we got the "cancel for any reason" coverage.
I've heard a lot of great things about cruising in October. The weather's generally good, warm water, cheaper rates :thumbsup2

Can we join in the fun? Another MN family here!! :goodvibes
This cruise will be a mother/daughter trip for us. It will be me and my three daughters (15, 13, and 12 at the time). We are leaving the boys at home! We are Platinum CC members so we have sailed the MAGIC and WONDER many times....but we can't wait for the DREAM! We splurged and booked a category V concierge stateroom. Then, we will be staying on board for the three night cruise on Oct 20th....we'll be moving to an inside stateroom for that leg of the cruise (had to be reasonable at some point!).
We are looking forward to planning with all of you and eventually meeting up in person!!!!

While we live in AL, DH and I were both born up north so we're right in keeping with the Midwest "theme." ;)
This will be our 3rd cruise and second for our kids. We've booked a Cat 11 room this time. Hoping we won't miss the verandah too much!

Just wanted to say I've already posted to this board and our group is getting larger there will be approx 40 coming on this cruise with us now. Thank goodness not all in one cabin.
Don't worry about the Hurricanes we lived through Hannah, Ike and Gustav in 2008 and we will all have a dream of a time together on this one. Hurricanes or not. Disney takes care of you all the way in a very classy way.:cool1:
Looking forward to watching this board build as many more people join in.

For the FE we might have to split up the cabins into groups of 10 if it gets too large. We will have to play it by ear. Buying for 10 cabins is easier than buying for a large group and easier on the wallet

We are Barry and Teresa will be traveling with our DS (24). Doing a b2b on the Wonder, so won't have to move or pack when we get back to Orlando. You probably won't see us on often for a while because we are leaving Friday for the eastbound transatlantic from Spain, 14 days on the Wonder. :yay: We have taken both a Oct and Nov cruise. The Oct one went great last year, but when we took one in earyl Nov 08, wouldn't you know it, a hurricane in the Atlantic. :scared1: Was scheluded on a eastern, and it got changed to a modified western, not our desire. I don't need to see Mexico again, thats all we did. We look forward to meeting you next year. Does anyone know if there is a Pirate party pirate: on the shorter cruises like on the 7 day ones.

Thanks for the welcome Kirsten :goodvibes - after about 25 emails back and forth to Dreams Unlimited we're now booked on the b2b Oct 16 and Oct 20th. It was a struggle to find a stateroom we were happy with! - we wanted inside (to get the virtual porthole) that wasn't a connecting room and wasn't next to an elevator! After about 20 staterooms already being taken we chose 7521.
I'm soooo excited that I want to start packing:rotfl:

Firstly, thanks for the welcome :goodvibes and secondly..
absolutely! - you're more than welcome to come and see the porthole:goodvibes. We cruised inside before and it was fine, and last time we got one of the SPH rooms so had a "free window". We wanted inside this time just for the virtual porthole. Its 11b cat. I wonder how many insiders will be offered upgrades to outside though... 13 months to go and LOTS of the cabins we wanted were already booked up. We couldnt get any of our choices in 10a or 11a. About 20 cabin numbers later our TA finally found one we all liked! I wonder how many people will REFUSE the upgrade, having purposely booked inside for the virtuals. It'll be interesting when the Dream finally sets sail to see how Disney handles it. There are far fewer insides on the Dream than the Magic so I'll be looking at those first few sailings with interest! If we were offered an upgrade I'm not sure what I'd do, I know it would be crazy to turn it down, but I soooo want to see Nemo swim by and the star fish wave at me:lmao:...yes, I'm THAT sad!:lmao:

On our last cruise we also did our first FE exchange and it was amazing! We can't wait to do it again...only this time we will be much more prepared. Our son (who was 6) was so excited every time we returned to our room to see if he got any more gifts. It was just one of those extras that made the trip so "Wonder"ful...:cool1:

We will be decorating our door. The last cruise we did was the first time we did anything with our door and we had a lot of fun doing it. We did the Mickey Captain’s hat for our porthole decoration. Plus we added some personalized magnets to our door. We received some new magnets as FE gifts, so we will add them to our door decoration collection. We definitely see this as something that will evolve over time and over multiple cruises… we’ll just keep adding to our door…
It’s kind of scary already knowing that our next cruise will simply be our “next” cruise… and not our last… We have definitely been bitten by the DCL bug!

Welcome aboard!
Well, we have done RC and Carnival before and liked both of them. We really expected a big "WOW" factor from Disney. Neither my husband or I were overly impressed, we thought it was pretty much the same as the other boats, activities were the same, bingo was the same etc.....
My oldest LOVED it, he is 13 and really wanted to do another Disney. My 2 little ones, 6 & 8 loved it also however; they would be equally happy on the other lines.
So....we have very good friends traveling on this cruise. They have a son that hangs with my oldest. Then, other friends decided to cruise with us, have never cruised, and wanted to do Disney.
Don't get me wrong, I am a Disney freak, I am just not sure that DCL is worth the premium price. So, I will give it one more try. I will say, I am going on the Oasis or Allure of the Seas in the very near future !
I LOVED the Dis meet and the FE group. THis alone was enough for me to say Ok to everyone!

Who has the special needs? Disney are usually excellent with that, I'm sure there is a medical form you need to fill in. My son has a severe nut allergy so we always have to complete one for his dietary needs. Ask on the cruise forum if you have specific questions - everyone on here is very helpful and some have been cruising for years so have all the answers :goodvibes This will be our 3rd Disney cruise so we're still novices!

I got a paper in the mail telling me my dining and show time. We are on the 6 dining and 9 show.
We got our letter on Saturday too! We have the early dinner at 6 and the late show at 9. It was interesting to read about how they want to try to do the shows this time... with a set show time for everybody. I wonder if that is just a suggested time, or is it like dinner and that it IS your assigned showing...

I am not too happy about our dinner and show times. We got a 5pm show and a 8ish dinner. One of the reasons I chose late dinner was so we don't have to rush from excursions. But with a 5pm show time we certainly will have to pick the earlier excursion. I wonder if you can go to switch it on the first day? Although when I called all they could offer me was a 7pm show and 9pm dinner.

Our information came in the mail yesterday as well. 5pm show with 6pm dinner. Will probably work out well for our group with a 3, 4, and 5 year old in the mix... Would have preferred dinner then show but at the same time don't want to have to rush through dinner to get to a 7:00 show, and I know my DD (4) will not make it all the way through a 9:00 show...

My oldest son (16) has autism. He is high functioning, but really nervous in new situations. He is really excited about the video games, but not much else appeals to him. Thankfully he has a sister that can go to the teen club with him and help him out if he needs it.
He is developmentally like a 10 year old. I don't know what kind of rules they have if he would like to go with his younger brothers and sister to the tween or even oceaneer lab/club. It may be something we just have to go and see what will happen. He may just spend most of his time watching disney movies in the cabin or theater. (He is now on his third time of watching "beauty and the beast" today.)
Does the ship feel really crowded? If so, are there places other than the stateroom that are less crowded, but still able to take part in the action? My son has a hard time and gets very agitated in crowds. I'm also a little worried about the dining if it feels too crowded.

So have you been looking for FE gifts?
Karen Mouse
12-11-2010, 09:00 AM
Havent thought of FE gifts yet... doing the back to back cruises, I'll have two lots of FE gifts to organise and pack, so whatever I choose it will be small in size due to room in the suitcases! On our last cruise we set a Ģ limit so people could gauge what to spend on everyone and it was one gift per room rather than buying sperate mini gifts for each individual etc. What does everyone think to that idea?
tinkmom2
12-11-2010, 11:19 AM
For me I like giving little gifts but I give out a gift bag. Some like to give one gift but I like to do a whole bunch. If we have a large number of cabins we will be seperating it out into groups so we don't have to spend a lot of money. Maybe 10 cabins per group depending on the number of cabins we have. I like the idea of spending as much or as little as you want.
What I've done in the past is sent the gifts to the hotel so I only have to carry a box onto the ship. I learned the hard way on my first cruise that I do not want to be assembling gifts on the ship.
We will be at WDW a week before and I will I have too many clothes crammed into my suitcase and need room for rum cakes and rum lol! You can also send your FE's to the ship directly. The address is in the FAQ section of the cruise forum. I don't know if the Dreams address is in there yet.

I need to think of a good Fishextender gift this year. My girls love doing this. I would however suggest that we cut the sign up to 30 or 60days before the cruise. My last one so many people signed up at the end that it was overwhelming to get my stuff done.
I agree we have to figure out a cut off date and agree on it. That way we can get the list made and split up if need be. :thumbsup2

Hi guys. We are on the Oct 16-20 Dream Cruise. This is our 3rd cruise (we sailed wonder in 09 and 10) We LOVE the thread Motto of "Once upon a Dream..." But I just wanted to say we just came up with our "Family" motto for this one...."Dare to Dream...." and here is why........
Our family is myself (Mom) husband and our 7 year old Son Connor. Our son recently started having some medical issues like seizures, balance, motor control and coordination issues. After lots of tests, they did an MRI. Three weeks ago we were told our son has Chiari Malformation and will require Neuro surgery in the very near future to fix it....Then this past Tuesday he broke his foot, is now in cast and wheel chair.....now just as we thought how much more can we handle, we got a call every parent dreads the very next day (wed)...our son has multiple masses in the frontal part of his brain. They are unsure exactly at this moment what exactly it is, says it "May not" be cancer~~not sure at this point, possible Leukodystrophy, MS or ????? Just said that by the way it looked, it didnt look great.
Needless to say we are a wreck. We look at the forum everyday and always look forward to the next cruise...it gets us through our daily normal work, money and other stress...but this year we are Daring to Dream that OUR dream will come true and this Nightmare will end with our son being healthy and happy again.
We have an appt at Vanderbilt University with a Pediatric neurosurgeon on Jan 24th. Please keep us in your prayers and dare to dream with us.........

Well welcome! And my prayers are with you!
Both my children had surgeries at a very young age. My oldest was under 1 and had a cyst in her bladder and kidney reflux. Luckily she was born with two uerters on one side and they just had to rewire her plumbing. She was at childrens for a week the first time. The second time she had a day surgery. She's now 11 and doing fine.
My youngest would have get high fevers and have seizures on me. This happened to us about 10 times. I had to call the ambulance a few times. It was finally determined she needed her tonsils out and eventually her adnoids and tubes in her ears. Today she is fine.
So just remember to come her when you are feeling down and we will try our best to cheer you up!

Your guys are in my thoughts.
Now that the Dream is in Florida and I more excited than ever to go!!! Is anyone going to try for Remy's?? I think we will pass, $75 per person is just a little too high for us. I would however love a Cabana, I am already working on my husband to approve that purchase but I have a feeling it will be a no.

I think we are actually going to spring for Remy's. We always wanted to try a multi-course restaurant and never have when we've been down at WDW. We might not got to Palo's though. Although I want to try the brunch I think one special dinner will be enough.
I want to do a cabanna too but am looking for someone to split the cost with us. $499 is a bit too much for us. I guess we will just have to "rough" it on the family beach lol
It's a trade off. We really want to to the Dolphin Encounter as a birthday present for my dd. That's going to be around $500.00 by itself.
I couldn't help but think when I looked at the new Dream videos "Here's our new home!" and I got a bit teary!

I dont think we'll do Remys either... we've done Palo brunch and dinner on both our previous cruises so will probably save the $$$ and spend it in the gift shop instead!;) We wont be getting a cabana either - on both of our previous cruises we didnt get to the adult beach so this time our son will be spending an hour in the kids club and we're heading there for a bit of peace!

I didn't care for Nutrisystem. I sold most of my food on Ebay lol! I have tried e-diets, Jenny Craig, and more diets than I like to admit but I Weight Watchers has been the only one that worked. I like to cook my own food.
I was really surprised I didn't gain any weight on my last two cruises. We were so busy walking around and being active I think that helped balance it out. Portion control really helped too.

I think WW is great but I just needed something a little more structured this time around. Neither one of us has a lot of weight to lose and NS is working. I couldn't be on it for very long though. I'm hoping for 2 months max. My biggest concern will be keeping it off before the cruise!

All the pix recent cruisers are posting is driving me insane!!!
Praying no more financial emergencies arise...in the past 2 months we've had to put top braces on our older 2 kids teeth(medically necessary and will be making payments on them for the next 16 months---YIKES!!!) and just paid over $1600 to fix my hubby's truck(which we thankfully were able to pay for with the reimbursement check from our dental insurance for the kids braces)! Along with a bunch of smaller issues here and there.

On the budget board a bit back they were saying if you buy the Disney gift cards at Sam's they were offering an extra $10 per $100.00 in gift cards you buy. I am not sure if that is still going on or not? I am going to prepay my shipboard account like I have the last two times. I know I spent over $700 with pictures, tips, and no excursions. This time we plan on the extra expense of Remy and the dolphin encounter. So it looks like my check will be going directly to Disney as it's the smaller one.

There was talk of doing the Fish extender list about 2 months before the cruise but I would love to start one sooner we put alot of time and thought into ours and I don't know about anyone else but the last month before the cruise is very chaotic and with a larger ship that mean more people on the FE list. The 2 that we did just listed the names and cabin number but we did meet on the ship before the life jacket drill incase there were any changes which I thought was a good ideal. Our kids get really excited when they see other kids there own ages going on the cruise too.:thumbsup2

I don't have a copy of what the list looked like on my previous cruise. I wil have to search my other computer. This is what we had on the list on my previous cruises Names, cabin numbers, ages, Disname, contact email (in case you want to keep in contact), birthdays or special events, and food allergies. The cabins were according to location and deck. We included a map with ours.
We also met in the atruim for our Dismeet. You can check it out in my trip report in my signature.

If anybody is making a list, It will be me Misty 35, my husband Jeff 50 and our daughter Kaitlynn 4. We are celebrating our 5th year anniversary, Our daughters 4th b-day and my husbands 50th b-day. We are in room 10574. This will be our 2nd cruise.
We would like to do the FE exchange if anybody is making that list as well.
I think the lists should be done earlier and have the cut off date when final payments are due. It is so hectic towards the end of the wait.

I was not trying to be a stick in the mud. I just know from experience I had to redo our list several times and ours was done about 1 month out. It can get really confusing with all the dropping and adding especially since we are so far out. Also there are some GTY cabins that will not have numbers til the end.
What we've done in past cruises is divide the list into groups of 10 if it gets too big. That would keep cost down. I know one person was saying they would have over 40 people coming.
Maybe posting a note saying you are taking names will help? I have seen others do it in the other forums or even posting another note here?
Here's our info
Pat (DH 43) Claire(DD, Birthday 6 Oct 19th) Cassie (DD,12) Chirs (DM 38) cabin 6610 this is our 3rd DCL cruise.

We plan to arrive on the evening of the 9th(we're driviving) and may do the parks Tues-Fri/Sat(3-4 days mixed amongst those dates)...not sure yet depends on finances. We may do a YES program to get discounted tix.
We've never been to US and were thinking of going there but there's no way we can afford to stay onsite and I'm not gonna go to US w/o fotl access. We'll do US another year when our youngest is a little older...maybe in Nov. 2012 or May 2013.

There are only 2 snow days built into our school calendar, which is ridiculous! They have used up those 2 days and 2 more already. They are calling for a another storm Tues. & Wed. PA state law says they can not go to school later than June 30th. So I guess if we keep having snow days they will be in school until then :scared1:

Is so sad today. My 11 y.o. sons beloved cat Stripey passed away suddenly. I was woken up this morning to my ds crying and yelling Stripey's dead. He was acting fine last night, like his normal kitty self. We have other beloved cats in our home too but Stripey was my son's and I feel so sad right now.
We rescued him almost 4 years ago after our elderly cat had passed away and my son was crying every night in bed for 3 months. He took out eldest cat's passing harder than everyone else. Stripey immediatly took to Richie and "knew" he was his cat. He would meow outside his bedroom door every morning at 6:45 to wake him up fot school. He was only 7-8 years old. We have 2 other cats who are 15 and 16 and are not the healthiest looking! Stripey was so young compared to them and was so strong!

We had to let my oldest cat go to heaven a few years back and I was the one that had to go to the vet. She was so dehydrated. I knew it was the best thing for her but the death was just like using a human and took me some time to get over.

It's on my controller that no longer works. I just used a spread sheet in Microsoft works. I put the Diser name, cabin number(had it according to cabin and deck) kids names, adults names and ages, birthdays or special events, food allergies, and emails so we could all keep in contact and to send out the sheet when it's complete.

Are you going to do this for this cruise how about a list on the dis boards? so the rest of us can see who all joins and the kids that will be on there too. How about all of us work together someone does the list on the dis boards someone does a more detailed list to be sent out by email (the final) list. and someone keeping a separate list so we don't miss anyone. That way one person isn't responible for the whole list, emails, coordination of meeting each other and etc... which by the sounds of it the list will be very long. What everyone think?
tinkmom2
01-24-2011, 10:01 AM
I think one person should be in charge of the list and we should have only one because it gets really confusing. What we did is had the emails so everyone got a copy and then posted notices on the Dis to make sure everyone is included.
As I stated previously we are going to have a lot of people either dropping or adding this cruise which can lead to a lot of confusion with the list. I will try to look through the emails and see if I can make something up to get us started.
If you all want to PM me with your info(need cabin number, who(ages), allergies, special events etc.. and emails I will see what I can do. :) I can add you as a GTY room is you don't know your cabin number:thumbsup2

Yes I have heard you can. I was considering sharing with somebody. I hear the cabanas only hold 7 but I have also heard of people paying additional for an extra person. I am not sure how much the cost goes up with a extra person. From what I read the cost could be split between two staterooms. I might call DCL to find out more. I also haven't checked out the cabana thread lately.
We also want to go on the Dolphin encounter in Nassau and that's gonna be a chunk of change too plus Remys.....

Ok I am confused too. :confused3 People were asking me to do it too lol Well we now both have a list started lol! Going back through the chats there are a lot of people that haven't checked in since the begining and several GTY rooms (guarntee rooms.) This is probably how the list is going to look for some time:) So love just keep up the list like you are doing:banana:

I had started it last week or so I think when one of the other dis'ers had asked if anyone was keeping track! It actually might be a good idea to have 2 of us keeping the list for now, in case one of us misses someone-lol! Always good to have a back up :rotfl:

Does anyone know if you can share a cabana with someone else?
I called DCL directly this AM and they said you can share the cabana with other people. You are allowed 6 people and then the cost is $50/pp after the 6. They also said it would go on one persons shipboard account and each would have to work out payment between eachother. So if there are 8 in the total party you are looking at a cost of $300/per family. :thumbsup2

My husband said no to conceirge then he said no to the cabana but if I can get the cost down I am doing it. I will feel exclusive one way or another.:woohoo:

I am still trying to talk my DH into it. The cost for each of our familes will be $300 each if we split it. We are still discussing if it's worth it to us. I will get back to you:) Maybe it will be my anniversary present if I can talk him into it:rotfl:

I think we should have people get their FE stuff in order in lists but I really enjoy participating with people that are active. While I understand people cannot and do not want to have a little mini chat room I like to know who my stuff is from.
I agree, I would like to know to also. I wouldn't mind being in a chat room talking about our cruise. Talk about getting excited that would really do it:woohoo: Have no ideal how or where to start a chat room thou.:chat: Let me know if anyone wants to try.

We just booked this sailing as well! Watched prices for Dream Cruises for awhile and scored one night when a guaranteed inside opened up all of a sudden, and then when I was booking it I took too long and it was gone..i was so bummed.... Then a few hours later it showed back up, so I scored! We got 2 adults guaranteed inside for $1277! The best part was that our anniversary is October 16th and my bday is October 18th, so it was the perfect sailing for me to find a good deal on. Now, I just hope we can go, still mulling over the details. We just got back from a big trip in December where we went on the Podcast cruise, which was our first Disney Cruise and we loved it... Hopeing we get to sail with you guys!
please add us to the fe list and if we cancel I promise I will let you know to take our names off of it:
Adam and Jessica (2 adults) still in guarentee status
p.s. saw the cabanas in december, man they looked great! especially the piece of beach right in front of them it was great...too steep for us though

Welcome!! Is anyone else getting sick of the negative threads about the Dream!!! Ugh I am, they need to stop bringing me down about my trip. I was all stressing out about our room because we have a white veranda and I think my husband was about to punch me. I almost changed it and he told me not to do anything. We are on the very back of the ship so then I started stressing about getting seasick. Ugh. Everything was fine until all the people started complaining. So I took a chill pill and am trying to relax. I am sure our balcony and room will be just fine. :cloud9:

Relax:) It will be the best vacation ever! Besides booking the cabana the first thing I am doing when I get on board is getting the free sea sickness pills from guest services :lmao:
We should all have a room tour. I am curious to see the virtual porthole staterooms. They look awesome! Does your room have the extended verandah?
