For our march trip we are staying 3 nights in OKW before moving to BLT.

We did not get the HH section.

Wondering where would be a good section to request. Would like a nice view and somewhere near a pool would be great.

Looking forward to checking out the resort!

Thanks

We like buildings 45 and 46 best....GREAT view of the canal and an easy walk to the South Point pool and hot tub. We also like building 55 right next to the pool. Next to that, we like the buildings close to the Miller's Road bus stop as well.

It may also depend upon what size unit you're in. In general, at OKW, a studio is a studio is a studio, though I agree with Diane's building suggestions for better views.

One bedroom and larger units had a design change during construction, so it may make a difference depending upon the demographics of your traveling party. In bldgs 11 to 29 there is one entrance t the bathroom - through the master bedroom. In bldgs 30 to 64 there are two entrances to the bathroom, through the master bedroom and through the laundry room. So if you have someone on the pull out couch, you may want a higher numbered building.

We have a studio.

How is the turtle pond section? Saw pics on allears and the kids playground and pool looked nicer than south point, but could just be the pics. Although from the map didn't look like it had any good views of golf course or the canal.

We have stayed in Turtle Pond area several times...twice in a studio. We found it to be a very noisy area. I suspect that is because of the larger pool area. FYI, MOST OKW studios will have very little view, since most are hemmed in with foliage.

We were in a one bdrm in bldg 44 earlier this month. There was a lot of bus noise. For that area, bldgs 32, 33, 36 and 37 are quieter, and yet fairly convenient to the pool.

Turtle Pond is my favorite section. My favorite was building 37, we had both a golf course view and a pond view. Building 43 was also nice, it had a big pond view. We liked the pond views because alot of birds, ducks, rabbits hung out there.

Pond view from a studio??? Which one?

We were in building 42 one year, literally steps from the Turtle Pond pool. Couldn't beat it for convenience to the pool, and it was very quiet. DH is so sensitive to noise when he sleeps, yet he found it quiet. The only negative was that it was a relatively long walk to the bus stop.

This map might help.

As you can see, some buildings are fairly close to the roadway. Since all studios at OKW are on the outside ends of the buildings, there are some studios that are going to have some noise issues with the roadway. I will say also that some studios in buildings 55 and 56 do get pool noise as well. Nothing but quiet and nice views at 45 and 46. Building 16 has great views too and is close to both Miller's Road AND the Hospitality House yet is not in the HH booking catagory.

only got one nice view at Old turtle road - it was building 39 and had a 2-bedroom instead of studio (my normal)

when had studio in that area - had a view of the air conditioning and the hill (golf course above it)

miller road got some nice views!

penincular road - stayed there once and it was a nice view and a bigger studio than normal. it was next to the golf course

I agree, Pat, I like the Miller's Road views as well. Lots of nice sunrise views there too.

You make those 2 buildings, 45 and 46, sound so nice, dianeschlicht, that I really hope we get one of those someday. However, whenever I've requested specific locations at other resorts, I seem to end up as far away as possible. So I think we'll just wait and hope.

We were in Building 27 in 2008. It had a view of the golf course from the balcony and we could see the lighthouse every time we stepped out the front door. We did not use the bus stop near our building since it was the first stop and we had to ride around the whole resort before we went anywhere. It was just a short walk across the bridge to Hospitality House to board the bus at the last stop, then we were on our way to the parks. On the way back home at night, we did get off at the first stop which was close to our building. I would take any of the buildings across from the marina and pool.

Have fun!

Actually, when I make requests, that is what I usually request, and every time I have requested it, I've gotten it. OKW is good that way....especially if you just request buildings.

Our first stay at OKW was in 55; I had requested to be near South Point pool and bus stop. It was perfect. Our 2BD had a water view, my kids liked watching the boats come and go, and the pool was just a hop, skip, and a jump away. It's a nice bus stop, too; you can almost always get a seat in the morning.

Can someone tell me about the counter service @ OKW?

Are there little packets of sugar there to grab, ketchup, etc.?

LOL, well, in 12 years of OKW ownership, I have only gone to the counter service place once, and that was to accompany a guest who wanted to pick up something on their get away day! It's not much of a counter service, but I don't mind, because I'm not much of a counter service person either. I would assume those things would be available though.

So from what I gather, being in a studio I have no chance of a view other than foliage. Oh well. It is only 3 days then we move to BLT MKV.

I don't know about there, but in the parks, some places to grab sugar, creamer, etc. are Main Street Bakery and Casey's Hot Dogs; in Epcot, Sunshine Seasons. Can you tell I've run out of coffee creamer before?

1) How do you know you didn't get HH?
2) They don't assign rooms until 3-4 days ahead of arrival.
3) If, that.
4) MANY rooms are not assigned until actual check-in.

HH is a separate booking category and we did not ask for it nor does our reservation state HH.

I have seen you make this comment on several threads, and I find it amazing that you seem to never go back and read the responses that tell you about the booking catagory.
