**2010 Confirmed Snacks included in Dining Plan/add yours here**
________________________________________
UPDATED: 1/22/2011

Below are confirmed items that can be used as a snack credit when using the 2010 dining plan. If an item is not listed, it has not been confirmed as a snack option or I missed it on another thread.

All items which Disney considers Family size ie; large bags of chips, boxes of donuts, jars of dip, etc. are not longer included as a snack option.

There is no need to read though the following pages of this thread as the first page has all current updates.

If someone comes across a new item not shown, please post & I will add it to the OP.

***For those who are copying my thread to your own web site: I know I can not stop you from doing it but at least give credit to the person who did the work for the past 4 years***

jjohnson -- thanks for starting this thread again and keeping track of everything. I don't know where or how you find the time but it is greatly appreciated by everyone who's planning an upcoming trip.

That said, I have one small request. I've been working up the nerve to ask you this for over a year. Under the ITEMS NOT OFFERED AS A SNACK OPTION, please change "luchables" to "lunchables." That's it. That's all. Thank you. :)

Do you only want input for 2010? I was there in September 2009, and the jalapeño cheese pretzel at the Asia Slush Cart in AK was available for a snack credit--the Asia Slush Cart is the one to the right of the entrance to MJT and to the left of the EE gift shop, right? I forget the price but I assume it was $4.29 since the one at the cart in Africa is listed as $4.29.

Just got back from WDW Saturday night (1/23/10). A small gelato is considered a snack credit at CSR - and it's delicious! They have 10 flavors to choose from, we had mango, raspberry and chocolate hazelnut, yum!

No need to read it all just the OP. It contains all the updates from the thread.

Only 2010. AFAIK the stuffed pretzel is still available.

We are staying at BC in a couple of months, and I'm just wondering about the already prepared "to go" food in the refridgerated cases along the walls at BeachClub Marketplace. Are the containers of cut-up fruit, small salads, uncrustables, sodas/milks/cereals REALLY NOT ON the DDP as snacks?

I am flabbergasted to see only a few items listed as snacks, while at most other resorts, they are confirmed snacks. Anyone been to BC lately to check this out? Or have pics of the fridge cases showing DDP snack logo? PLEASE let me know!

There has to be more at the Refreshment Port at Epcot. I know the new empanadas aren't but the DDP logo is next to several of the items on there. I'll double-check this weekend if no one chimes in before then.

No, I don't think so. We ordered something and it was so busy, so I was looking for DP symbol and couldn't find it, but I noticed their license had a different operating name, so I asked. I was told they are not owned by Disney, and thus don't participate in DP. I really don't think it was owned by Landry's though.

Sorry, that's all the info she gave me, Tiger :)

What's the best way to have the snack list on hand during a vacation? Copy at a smaller % and carry on a paper, or into a file of some sort to open with a Blackberry or iphone? Pls let me know what works for all of you. I would love to have the snack list with me, but don't know the best way to do so.

What I do is first delete all the resorts that I know I'm not going to use them. Then change the font & seperate into 4 columns. It should all fit on one page.

When we were there last week, we copied the snack list -- and the menus of the restaurants we were considering -- into rich text files. We found a free app for iPod Touch that would display the text files. (It was called GoodReader Lite, also works for iPhone.) It worked great.

Updates for CSR, only muffins and biscuits are allowed as snack credits. We were all excited to get a danish or croissant (sp?) for breakfast, but since those were all over $4, we could not use those as snacks. They had a clear list posted of what could be used as a snack credit and danishes were not allowed. :-(

-Astrid

This is what I have on page 1. Are you saying that only muffins or biscuits are included now?

CORONADO SPRINGS
Yogurt parfait
Banana
Cereal
sm. milk
Muffin
Yogurt
Plain biscuit
cookies
Pecan roll
Apple Turnover
Cherry Turnover
Cinnamon roll
Cream Cheese Danish
Fruit cake
Croissant
Pastry
Uncrustables
French fries
egg roll
Ice Cream
Fruit Bars

I think the poster was talking about that small quick service place at CSR - when we were there in Sept. you could only choose from a few items. You could however get all the items you have on your list at the Peppermarket.

Arihillfarm - sorry if I'm wrong about what you were saying.

Does anyone have this list of snacks already saved in a small version? I would love a copy I could read on the plane and carry to the parks. :worship:

I tried to right click and save to my works program but it keeps saying to large to paste even if I only copy a few lines. Any suggestions?

Thanks to this thread I was able to use a snack credit for the sweet pretzel in Norway last week. YUM! At Goofy's in DTD we were only allowed to do the make-your-own marshmallow. However almost everything in the dairy case was allowed as a snack credit - lots of yummy choices!

At the end of the week we still had some snack credits leftover. I asked at the AKL gift shop if they had anything that counted as a snack credit and was handed an 8x10 sheet that listed everything that qualified. I picked up a 3oz. lollipop and 2 individual cookies (I think from minnie's bakeshop) to bring home.

We just returned from our trip (3/13-3/20). On our day at Epcot we got 3 ice cream cones at France/Crepes des Chefs de France. They were listed as being snacks on the DDP and had the DDP logo next to them on the sign. The person in line in front of us asked if they were on the DDP and were told yes. We ordered our ice cream and went on our merry way.

Later that night back at our resort DH was taking the reciepts from our day out of his wallet and noticed that our ice cream showed as being charged to our room instead of using 3 snack credits.

The next day we visited the concierge at our resort and were told that France/Crepes des Chefs de France was not on the DDP list. We explained that the logo was next to each of the snack items on the sign at the stand. The concierge credited our account to reverse the charges to our room and instead charge us 3 snack credits.

Anyway, not sure if it was just a goof up or what, but that's what happened to us!

Les Chefs de France is on the DDP, but it is a TS. Was it not at Boulangerie Patisserie? That is a CS with snack credit items. If it was, it is on the DDP. It must have been inadvertently incorrectly charged. I guess that brings us back to the good old advice of check your receipts. It does happen from time to time for whatever reason. :goodvibes

We were there the first week of March and were told only the make your own marshmallows were a snack credit. I asked at the register since it was not posted anywhere and I was curious to see if it had changed.

I thought it was pretty crummy of them not to have it posted anywhere near the make your own treat station, no prices by it either.

We were not on the ddp, paying out of pocket and I was not overjoyed that the cash price on the rice krispie treats with one dip, one topping, and one drizzle is now $5.....that really adds up with my DH and boys! :headache:

The Grab N Go section of the CBR food court had quite a few things as snack credits. I remember the bakery part having muffins, cinnamon rolls, etc. I also think (but am not 100% certain) that you could get yogurt and various kinds of fruits with your snack credit.

Just to be clear, the purple-white square markers you see on the menus posted here and everywhere in WDW indicate items which you may purchase with snack credits. (Snack credits being the focus of this thread)

If you are using CS(QS) meal credits, you may purchase items that are not marked for parts of your CS meal, so long as you choose only one entree item, one dessert item, and one beverage item for each meal/credit. The entree items are not generally marked with the purple-white square markers, simply because they are not valid snacks and are more than the max-$4 implied value of a snack credit.

Hi there! Both times my sweetie and I went to WDW and were on the QSDP, what we did to avoid having to check our receipts all the time (because really, you're on vacation! You don't want to have to look at receipts!) is we had the credit card added only to one of our KTTW card. That way, whenever we wanted to get a CS meal or a snack, we used my card. That way, it was 100% sure they wouldn't inavertantly charge a snack or a meal to our room. It's hard enough using up all those credits!

I didn't get a pic but the Yak and Yeti counter service location in AK offered fries as a snack option....why my daughter wanted fries with Honey Chicken and Rice I do not know but she did. I know there was more sodas, tea, water, coffee, mango pie, frozen lemonade, pork egg roll and fried rice and that's all I wrote down.

You can get green, white, or rooibos at the tea shop (Royal Anandapur Tea) in AK, and you can get jasmine or green at the tea shop (Joy of Tea) in China in Epcot. China has the green tea-mango frozen slushy too.

So that's the good news.

Bad news is, I don't recall either of these as accepting dining plan credits.

Hello,
I hope this hasn't been asked already and I just missed it, I don't mean to repeat questions but I've been looking at the wonderfully compiled list on the first page and am wondering are all of these items clearly labeled at the shops as being snack credits? I'm new to the dining plan and just want to be sure I've got things straight in my mind. I know that the brochure was quite vague, and really didn't list many snack options, but thanks to this thread I can see I have many more options, but I'm wondering if Disney makes it obvious, or if you need to be 'in the know' like all of you folks here seem to be. Thanks.:goodvibes

Yes most places it is clearly marked by the DDP symbol.

I have only glanced into the France bake shope and would like to know if it is clearly marked in there as well.

What is confusing for me is the DDP being marked could also mean it is a counter service item as well..so sometimes I do get confused even when it is marked?? Any thoughts?

Hi Disney*Dreaming and Mom Poppins!

I believe the purple DDP symbol on menus marks only drinks & goodies that are available for a Snack Credit, not QS Meal Credits.

Some of the menu pictures may help clarify or confirm that.

So I have tried to read through this plus a couple other threads and still can't tell whether I can use my SC for a breakfast item.

I would want to use the SC at the POR Riverside food court. I see they have things like muffins, bagels, etc. Are these a snack? How about oatmeal or cereal? I would be happy to purchase my milk or coffee to round out breakfast.

With all the desserts I'll be eating I don't think I will need to use the SC on anything sweet.

Thanks.

If you look at the first post, there is a compilation of all the snack credits that people have reported getting. The POR list includes: Fruit bowl, Yogurt parfait, cinnamon roll, Assorted Muffins, applesauce, 2 breadsticks w/marinara sauce, cup of soup, milk.

You can also generally get an overall sense by reading about offerings at other resorts. There are a few that are more inclusive and a few that are more restrictive. But, the resorts are generally similar.

If you find out more specific items for POR, I'm sure that others will appreciate it if you report them upon your return.

I will apologize in advance if this was answered in a previous page, but I was curious to know if they are still allowing candy apples as a snack option at places like the Main Street Confectionery?

Last year I know they were. I had gotten several of the plain candy apples as a snack option, but did not see it on your updated list. Also If you go on wdwinfo.com it says that MSC and Mrs.Potts are not valid for the dining plan. I vaguely remember going to Mrs.Potts last year and they weren't a participant, so was wondering if they added to the list this year. Thank you!!!

I know there are many places that even though snack options are 4$ and under they don't necessarily participate in the dining plan. Same with some considered quick service dining places at some of the parks.

MSC has never been listed as participating in the plan but they always have. I do not remember Mrs. Potts off hand but someone must have posted they were participating this year or it would not be listed.

Pipergirl: I'm confused. Based on the receipt it seems the soy milk was not a snack credit correct? and charged to your room.

Unless a place takes TS or QS credits they don't get officially listed as taking the dining plan. Thus, it's always a bit of a guess whether the snack credits will continue to work or begin working. (Hence why this thread is useful because it provides a method of keeping track of recent changes.)

I was at Starring Rolls on 5/27 and only the Candy Apples (not the fancy caramel or any others) WERE at snack credit. I believe they were $4.xx.

When dining on the Dining Plan, are desserts the same as snacks? For example if eating at Pizza Planet, I order pizza and salad, a Dasani water and a rice krispie treat, this is all considered a meal, correct? I won't get charged for a meal and a snack?

Ready2GoBack

That is correct. You get the meal, drink and dessert with the Meal Credit; no snack credit would be used.

Wow, a free trip. That would be awesome!!

I've noticed a couple of points that appear to be outdated on the front page list, but I didn't look through the posts.
We are at WDW, and the salad that can be ordered as a snack from the Pinocchio Village Hause in MK is now $2.99. It's a very nice little salad, BTW!
(Off topic: I ordered the large Mediterranean Salad for dinner here last night, and I was allowed to get fries as my "dessert".)
Wherever plain pretzels are sold in AK, they now offer *delicious* jalapeno and cheese pretzels as a snack. They are over $4.
If I notice anything else, I'll try to post.

Unless they've changed things recently I don't believe you can get the pizza and a salad. Usually you can only get the pizza. Unless it's sold as a combo (which I see it is at Pizza Planet-so you are good there.)

Wofgand Puck in DD allowed me to get a $5 bowl of soup as a snack, tonight. It was near closing, and we have been there daily. They remember us, so maybe it was just a fluke. It was a nice "snack", in any case!

I can't add anything in particular to this thread, but we just returned Monday night after an 11 night stay. All I can say is, ASK if you're not sure! So many times, things were included and snack/desserts were treated equally, etc., so it pays to ask! The CMs are much better about the plan then they were even last Oct. :thumbsup2 i.e. Kaki Gori doesn't have the symbol, but everything else on that menu does - we asked - and Kaki Gori IS on the plan. Who knows why they label some things and not others? :confused3 ASK!

P.S. The heat was sooo bad, we left 9 CS credits unused.

This is a southern side dish. The gravy is white (or milk based) with crumbled sausage. It can be used to accompany any meal - but is most popular for breakfast. I practically grew up on the stuff. Very good. Although Disney doesn't make it spicy enough from my taste - so I always add a few packets of black pepper. Try it. :thumbsup2

So bags of Mickey gummy heads or any prepacked Goofy's Candy are not included in the snack credits?

If it's packaged as a "single serving" it may be allowed, even if it's not on the list on post 1 of this thread. There are a number of gummy items that have been reported as acceptable for a snack credit. The list on page 1 is made up from menu photos like the one above from AK, and it's also from people reporting what they were allowed to use snack credits on - not an all-inclusive list. It does get updated whenever there's a new report of an item allowed or no longer allowed, and when people post menu pictures. So it could be the items you're asking about are allowed, just haven't been reported. Some prepackaged Goofy's Candy is allowed, I've seen it in displays near the registers at some stores. The trick is usually in how many "servings" the package is listed at. Some surprisingly small packages will say 2 servings...or "family pack."

Thanks for that, and yes from the UK ...... will get there in the end - easier to find out these things now, rather than wait until get there. So when it says "biscuit and gravy" the "gravy" part is the sauce, the "biscuit" is ???

So how do we know what is free dining for a counter service? is everything free or you just have to ask?

Thanks again - getting very excited now - booked over a year ago, and 8 of us, all family coming over.

As a Canadian, I'd argue that they taste like a greasy-butterless scone. As you can tell, I'm not a fan. Every WDW trip, my DW gets one early on because they look awfully scone-like. Then, she proceeds to grimace and complain and I remind her, "it's a biscuit, not a scone!" So, I think she has finally learned to only try them at all you can eat buffets, rather than paying for them separately.

bigAWL
07-03-2010, 09:39 AM
I'm no scone expert, but the ones I've had were a bit sweetened, and maybe had raisins or something baked in. Also they were a bit more dense than a US biscuit. And I believe what you would call a "biscuit" in the UK, we call a cookie.

In the US, a biscuit looks like a scone, but should be light and fluffy inside (though not as light as a croissant). Biscuits are also never sweet, but could be served with butter and honey. I pretty much only eat them with sausage gravy. I barely taste the biscuit itself.

annmarieda
07-03-2010, 10:55 AM
All this biscuits and gravy talk has me laughing. I think it is definitely a southern US thing. I am from the northwest. I love biscuits, but the gravy is gross to me. I think it starts as though you are going to make a sauce. Flour and butter (a rue) and doesn't really go much beyond it besides a bit of liquid (I think milk), salt, pepper and finally some sage seasoned sausage. (at least sage in the ones I have tried) As for the biscuit, it is kinda like a scone in that it is a dense roll. It is moister though..and yes it definitely can be greasy. (although shouldn't be overly so) The dough gets rolled out and folded on itself to hopefully create layers once cooked. As someone mentioned though, it is not at all like a croissant. (those layers are buttery and light). For me, a biscuit is better served with butter and honey. (or some jam) See, so much like you would eat a scone. I think a big difference in how they taste... the biscuit has a slight (very slight) bitter taste since it has baking powder/soda in it. (that kind of bitter)

I'm starting to think that everyone has had different versions of these things than I have since one of the reasons I don't like biscuits is because of how they manage to be both greasy and DRY at the same time, nothing like the lovely moisture of a scone.

Are Canadian scones different from others?

:rotfl: No, it is probably that the scones we get here are a bit different. They are crumbly and dry at most places. Now that I think about it though... at fair time... people line up (quite in Disney fashion) to get "good scones" from one particular bakery that only sell them at fairs. They are warm and moist... not dry and crumbly. And actually, now that I think about it...a wee bit like the biscuits I like to make. But... at most coffee shops, they are dry. Soak 'em in coffee dry.

I think this is quite funny how regionally things as simple as a scone or biscuit can be so different. :rotfl2:

You CAN make white/sawmill gravy this way. I often do when we don't have any sausage in the house or to accompany chicken fried steak whenever I make it. Since, to me, the sausage seems like over-kill in the gravy.

Thanks for the great list! You last updated it this month, but I'm going to tell you of my most recent experience, in case you haven't been at an All Star resort for a while.

When I was at All Star Sports on Jun 12th, the CM at the register showed me a sign that updated the snack credits for breakfast items. I don't remember all of them, but I did have to pay out of pocket for my oatmeal, which had been removed from the snack list the day before. Grits were still on the list, though. Also, my sister had ordered one biscuit and gravy for the snack item and the CM at her register took her order back and made them add another biscuit and gravy, because the new list added the full order, instead of just a single biscuit.
