Hi, I have just found your forum. My husband and I are planning our first trip to Disneyland with our 3 year old son in March. I am sure I will have lots of questions over the next few weeks, I hope I don't bug you all to much lol

My first one lol is.....

I have decided to go for an easyjet flight as it is the cheapest way I have found. The thing is the flight doesn't get in until 8.10pm so we would miss the shuttlebus, so I was looking at catching the TGV. I have priced it up on the raileurope website and it is £83 return. Seems a lot of a 12 minute ride! It also wants you to put in the time of train you want and I didn't want to do that incase our flight was delayed.

So I was wondering, do you think it would be the same price or even cheaper to just pay when I get to the train station rather than booking it in advance online? Has anyone else done this and do you think I would experience any problems paying on the day?

Also (because I'm a worrier!) if for some reason our flight was delayed by two hours we would miss the last train so does anyone know how easy it would be to get a taxi and how much roughly it would cost?

The cheapest way to book the TGV, as far as I know (and its what I always do) is to do it at least 10 days in advance, and specify which TGV train you'll be using. If you leave one hour between your arrival time of your plane, and the departure time of your TGV, you should have plenty time to catch it. Strictly speaking, your TGV ticket is only valid on the train you've specified, so if you doubt that you'll be in time for your TGV train, maybe a private shuttle would be the way to go. You can book a shared shuttle with rstransport (you may not have to share, I've done that before too :) ) for your journey between CDG and your DLP hotel, and then book the TGV journey back from DLP to CDG.

None of the methods of transfer between CDG and DLP are particularly cheap - the VEA is 17 euros per adult, per single journey (children is 13 euros), and takes about one hour.

I think with the cheapest TGV tickets you can re-book up until 24 hours before the journey free then there is a €10 charge on the day. I noticed the first class tickets weren't much more but my wife shattered that dream by saying it wasn't worth it for 12 minutes - she has a point :rotfl2:

We get in around 6.30pm on a Sunday and we're thinking of the TGV because it can work out cheaper than the shuttle and I've always to go on a TGV. They won't charge for our 3 year old if he sits on our knee - I think we can manage 12 minutes of that. He sat on my knee pretty much for all of The Princess and the Frog on Sunday!

We just got back yesterday, flew with Easyjet and used the TGV both to and from DLP, as we also landed too late for the shuttle. Think it was around £58 for both of us, which I'm sure was either cheaper or just about the same as the shuttle bus and much quicker. I was also concerned about booking a specific time in case of delays but we just booked a train for just over an hour after we landed, and had no problems at all using this service.

The train was a bit crowded when we got on but as it's only ten minutes we just stood at the doorway with our suitcases.

I've always just used the VEA, but this time I'm going to use ezyshuttle as it it is 60 euros per trip and still quicker than vea too:thumbsup2

Our wee boy will be 3 while we're there, our daughter is 4 just now so the TGV works out cheaper for us as he doesn't need a seat (under 4s can travel on your lap).

If we're all going to be standing at the door anyway, then we'll be fine!

Hi, I am also thinking of booking the tgv and note that a couple of you have said an hour between landing and getting the train is sufficient time. Has anyone arrived at terminal 2B? Would you think an hour ok from there? Also, is the train station easy to find? I can picture the scene already, DH will be severly stressed from the flight with 2 lo's and collecting the luggage and will be panicking about us missing the train (and getting annoyed at me trying not to laugh at him!)!

You are in the same terminal building as the TGV station if arriving at terminal 2B. Its very easy to find the station - you just follow the signs ahead of you for "TGV gare sncf" or something along those lines (it has a little picture of a train next to it). At CDG, a downward arrow on the overhead signs means go straight ahead ;).

Yes, one hour should be plenty time to catch your TGV if you are arriving at T2B. We arrived at T2 (can't remember the gate number) on our last trip (it was the Easyjet gate), and it took us 10-15 minutes to walk from there to the TGV platform.

I would fully recommend booking a private shuttle. The driver will meet you at your gate and take you straight to car. No messing around looking for trains etc, much less stressful than VEA especially with young children and they take you directly to your hotel. We use Ezyshuttle and they were fantastic. Provided car seat for DD and only cost 60 euro each way:thumbsup2

Hi, thanks for your replies. I think I've changed my mind and will go for a shared shuttle. We are due to arrive at the airport around 1740 and I'd thought about getting the 1900 tgv but I think it would be less stressful to get a shared shuttle and not have to worry about getting to the train station and then to the hotel. I wondered if the hotel buses might be busy at that time and also my kids might be a bit narky and hungry at that time. I seen a recommendation for a different company on another site and its on £75 return, cheaper than the tgv, even with it being free for under 4's, and the Disney coach. So thanks for putting the idea in my head Fifi Rose!!

p.s. I see from your details that you are in the City of Discovery, same here!

Thank you OP for this thread! It has answered most of my q's already! :goodvibes

We're flying to Paris this time, (Eurostar with Disney Express service last year) so transfers are all new to me! I like the idea of the train journey only being 10 minutes!!! The prices seem to be pretty similar for both EZShuttle or the TGV for the dates/times we need.

Hm, door to door service, or a super-fast train and a little walk back to the hotel with cases...and a 3 yr old??? The private transfer is getting more appealing as I think about it! :lmao:

I'm originally from there, but have been in Edinburgh since 1990. Almost made it back after a freezing swim in Perth (they had the outside pool bit open and it was foggy) on Wednesday but DD wanted to go to soft play...

Is ezyshuttle a shared or private shuttle? there will be 4 of us (2 adults+1 child+1 infant) and are we going to share the shuttle with anybody else?
