this is unreal. Are our children not safe in their own homes anymore? Apparently not. The father left the kitchen for a moment and when he returned, the little girl was gone- just like that.
It makes me want to lock DD in the house. I dont ever let her out of my sight when we are out. Now am I going to have to follow her from room to room too?
This is just so unbelievable and sad.

This is so very sad. I feel bad for the family. :( This is turning into a very sick world. It is a shame that people have to watch every move their child makes. :(

Thanks, d.kurz, but please don't come to any hasty conclusions;) ;) ;) ; members around here will start to think that you're some kind of "wacko":p :p

Of course,if this poor girl, who is just 1 year older than our son, had been found ALIVE, everyone would have thanked GOD for answering their prayers. Now that this child has been found DEAD, everyone is quick to take GOD off of the hook and blame "other forces"  .

I thought that our children had guardian angels looking after them; perhaps the ANGELS were on vacation with GOD:( :( :( :( :( .........

I just read..the family friend is a homeless man..they let sleep on the couch..

Maybe the parents should be arrested for child endangerment or something...How stupid can you be...

The homeless man was staying at the friends house with the father. Yes he is a horrible person but it sounds like these people knew him and thought he could be trusted. Are we now going to blame the father for needing to go to the bathrom? Put blame where it deserves to be on piece of garbage that did this.

LOL, d. kurz;);) ;) . I don't want to get you in "hot water" around here.

I "got started" 20 years ago when I saw an INNOCENT 7 year old child die of acute leukemia. The Senior doctor on the unit approached me, as I tried to secret my tears, and said, "It isn't for us to question. GOD wanted to take her now". I've been questioning ever since..........

He was a Homeless man.The father met him a few nights before ...they had been drinking...got to wonder where his head was!

if I was the mother in that situation...that DAD would be better off in JAIL then at home....

YES..blame the garbage that actually did it...but..you must be responsible with your children!!!!!!!!!!!

Very sad for the family. Will pray for them to have the strength to get through this trying time.

Perhaps GOD is on vacation in the Bahamas .....

Nope. He was right there by her side ready to take her home.

Interesting. I have seen quite a few people, young and old, die of cancer and other things and it has always had the opposite effect on me.

I am so disturbed by this as it is only 5 minutes from our home! Our children go to the Catholic grade school which is in Valley Park. It's a very small town! I just can't believe that this has happened. I had tears in my eyes when I heard about it today. Now I know why I kept hearing the helicopters flying around this morning. It's such an awful, horrific tragedy! :(

Tonight's local news reported that the alleged murderer's brother said that John Johnson was diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia and hadn't been taking his meds. I'm just so glad that they caught him immediately!

How true!!!

I'll say this again...it breaks my heart and terrifies me. I get alot of compliments from people saying "your girls are so cute," (as I'm sure all of you do too) particularly my youngest. It's terrible, I don't even want them saying it, because I don't want attention drawn to them. I just want to blend in and not stand out! Of course, my youngest is also miss personality ;) and will talk to anyone, anywhere, anytime! I keep saying she is going to be the politician in the family!:D I just keep praying (yes, this type of thing really shakes my faith too) and hoping we can get dd's raised!

Even though my oldest DS is 14 and taller than me (youngest is 12), I still had a long talk with them explaining that these things can still happen at their age!!!! Children at this age, young teens, are still as vulnerable as any child.

Please talk to your children, no matter what age!

This breaks my heart! Are our children safe anywhere?

Apparently, it was the fathers roommate and this guy that were drinking-NOT the father. The father was staying at the home of a friend with his family. Please don't place blame on the father. I'm sure he is going through his whole list of would have, could have should haves!

My thoughts and prayers are with the family !
