View Full Version : Refillable Mugs?

I was just looking over the Disney website on whats included in each of the dining plans. I noticed that the QS plan clearly includes a refillable mug for drinks at the resort. The Deluxe plan clearly states you get a refillable mug. The regular Disney Dining plan that includes 1 TS and 1 QS per day does not mention the refillable mug. I thought when I signed up for the trip it was there but not now.

Can anyone confirm that the "free" refillable mug is still part of all dining plans?

The refillable mug has never been included in the basic DDP. The basic DDP is the most popular DDP, so I guess Disney didn't think they needed to include it. It is included in the counter service plan and the DxDDP. It makes the price look more reasonable.:rotfl: At least that's the normal consensus when this topic is brought up.

Yes, aubriee's sure that refillable mugs have never been included in the basic Dining Plan :teeth:

Nope, no mug with the regular DDP. :sad1:

No mug comes with the basic plan, it's always been that way.

:confused3:rotfl:Not sure what you meant by this comment, but yes, I'm sure a mug has never been included with the basic DDP. I go to WDW several times a year and have been getting the DDP (either the basic DDP or the DxDDP) every since they first started offering them. The mug has never been included with the basic DDP.

No mug comes with the basic plan, it's always been that way.

Thanks for verifying the facts Nala!

Oh, just in case somebody came along and quoted you and said, "Are you sure?" :rotfl2: That's almost as likely to happen as not.

I'll be on the DDxP plan. Can you tell me if the mugs will be there at checkin or do I go to the CS area and get the mugs from there?

You will need to go buy the mugs. You will have 1 "mug credit" on your key to the world card for every person in your party. Works just like a snack credit.

I think the reason they added the mug to QS and Deluxe instead of Basic was simply to increase the value. Deluxe you pay a large fee to "get it all" so to speak, and with the QS plan, they needed to add some more value to quantify the high cost for the plan (ad mug or lower price?).

Just a thought.... :)

Me and DW have gone now 5 times with the regular DDP and never had the mug included, but we always bought the mug because it is a good value if you are staying a week or more, and we need our 2 cups of coffee every morning.:surfweb:

Soda, coffee, tea (hot or iced), filtered water, hot chocolate, possibly lemonade or punch, maybe an energy drink. No milk and no juices.

I too can verify the mug was not included in the regualr plan. (just had to throu that in thre for overkill :goodvibes )

But i am in a bit of shock over the next statement - that Each person get thier own mug :scared1:

I see the error of my ways now, but the way I read it was that our family would get one mug (our first time on QSSP) :lmao: yea, looking back, how silly

the reaon that scares me is beacuse DH comes down after the kids and I arrive, and we are forced to make 2 seperate ressies, instead of just adding him at a later date, so we will get a total of SEVEN MUGS!!! :rotfl2:

wow, we really make out! we get two of every coupon and promotion going and now SEVEN MUGS!!

guess we'll be making a lot of trips to the potty :scared:

I've heard that the mugs are now smaller...I guess that won't bug me too much since I've never had one, but does someone have a picture of the mug?

:lmao:

(A mug of the mug?)

I would just like to know if they are collectables, changed every year, different according to the resort, etc??

TDC Nala

They used to be different according to the resort. For the past couple of years they've been generic mugs at all resorts, with a design related to whatever resortwide promotion Disney's been putting on. In 2008 it was Year of a Million Dreams, last year they switched to Celebrate Today. They're still selling Celebrate Today mugs at all resorts.

Awesome, thanks! That sounds like there may be a chance that if you buy the QSDP at one resort, then you can refill the mug at another resort, if they are all alike?

(as an aside, we had to add one day to the front of our reservation, and decided to stay that first day at a different resort -- crazy, I know -- but we're still debating if we want to buy the QSDP for that first day...)

RE: Juice.

We have had juice available for refillable mugs over the years at All Star Resorts, Pop and Contemporary. It's been a few years since we've gotten mugs, so not sure if that's still the case, but at one time, and still may be, a few resorts have offered apple juice for refillable mug.

I emailed WDW last year to inquire and express my concern that they only offered pop (we don't drink it, nor coffee), and they said only a few resorts have chosen to offer juice, so that would lead me to believe that some still do. They said it's something that they are always taking guest feedback on.

Good to know, I will be sure to mention it during our trip next week - we do not do soda or coffee either and would like to see apple juice as a choice
thanks

You are welcome - like I said, not sure if it's still the case, as during our July trip, no mugs for us. But it can't hurt to check.

Happy drinking, Tiger :)

I've heard that the mugs are now smaller...Nope. Same twelve ounces they've been for several years (comparing my Dixie Landings mug with my 2008 OKW mug).

There is no more juice on the drink station at Pop Century. There was a report that there is no juice at the Contemporary. I'd guess all the juice was removed from the drink stations.

At the risk of sounding dumb.... they only offer coffee and soda for the mug refills? :confused3 We will be staying at WL, can we take our mug to another resort and refill it?

I was excited to hear that we could get coffee!! :lovestruc And, yes, I had the same question (but maybe didn't phrase it well) -- since we'll be swapping resorts and then buying the QSDP AGAIN at the new resort, will the other mug still be fillable at the new resort from the plan bought at the original resort?

I assume we'll end up with a grand total of 8 mugs on us (4 people, 2 dining plans)!

The official policy, as stated on the mugs, is that they are good for refills at the resort your are staying for length of stay.

However, it is inconsistent and CM's may tell you differently. When we got our in December, the CM made a point of telling me we could use them at any resort during our stay (if we were planning on visiting them to see Xmas decorations).

We visited both the Poly and WL and I asked about it and whether I could fill them up since I was staying at BLT, and both times, I was told to go ahead and do it. I would not have done it without asking but as long as I got the go ahead, I figured I was fine.

I can't believe they did that - I guess my email was just lipservice then...?

This is so frustrating as we don't drink pop, nor coffee, so no refillable mugs for us at this point.

Thanks for that update - like I said, we didn't get any refillable mugs in July, but my email was sent right before that, so maybe 6 months ago?

I don't get Disney's ideas sometimes...Tiger :confused3

It is really unfortunate that more parents dont request juice? Sad fact is, many parents allow their children to drink soda and coffee. A real shame.

In the early fall when we usually go, it is quite hot, so we drink the sport drinks and have found lemonaide, which isn't much better than soda I know, but some have a fruit punch as well - I know still not good, but it usually has some Vit C or something.

Have a great trip!

Thanks - well, everyone knows how much Americans love their soda!:rotfl2:

I'm sure pop syrup is much cheaper than juice, so that's why they do it. It's probably all about money for Disney, as most everything else is.

Frustrating, but we just bring our own juice boxes, or buy our own juice at the grocery store. We drive and are DVC, so we have our fridge. I feel badly for the many families who aren't able to do this though, and are stuck with having no choice but to use snack credits for juice/milk, or paying for them with cash.

No milk and no juice. You can get tea. Hot or iced tea is usually available. As was mentioned, many of the drink stations now have lemonade, fruit punch (I don't think it's the real fruit kind though) and Powerade.
