View Full Version : Pay OOP for CRT dinner when on DDP?

Hi everyone...If you have the regular DP, would you use 2 TS credits on CRT dinner buffet, or would you pay OOP? I'm trying to see what makes the most sense...if you did use 2 TS credits, would you just go ahead and pay OOP for another night's meal? Assuming we would like TS every night, which we would. Thanks!

We choose to pay for CRT breakfast OOP. I'm not sure about lunch or dinner as we've never booked those. In MY opinion, it's not a good use of credits. We pay for it OOP when we book and then we use the credits for other meals. We use the DDP. If we did the DxDP then we'd use credits. Again, this is just what my family chooses to do... :)

CRT is not a buffet, it's a fixed price meal ordered off a menu.

Paying OOP for a 2 TS meal is USUALLY more cost effective, unless you have DxDDP.
BUT: If doing so is going to leave you with extra credits that you have to try and spend, then I would say rather use the credits. Saving credits only to have to try and figure out how to use them "because you feel you have to" isn't cost effective either. You would be best looking at your plans for the whole trip and seeing which is the best option for you. Things like arrival/departure times or maybe having a meal offsite during your trip can put a whole different swing on what would ordinarily appear to make sense.

But wouldn't it be more cost effective to use the 2 TS credits for CRT and pay OOP for a less expensive TS dinner?

I would depend on what your other meals are. For the most part breakfasts are cheaper, so if you have a TS breakfast scheduled, you might rahter pay OOP for that. We paid OOP for CRT last year for dinner, but only becuase we had everything scheduled and at the last minute was able to snag a reservation and I didn't want to change anything else.

After crunching the numbers for my upcoming May trip, when it comes to the dining plan, it isn't very cost effective to use 2 TS credits on a single meal. It also isn't cost effective to use 1 TS on breakfast.

I agree about not using 2TS for a single meal, but I think its totally cost effective to use a TS for a character b-fast.

^^^ How do you figure this? :confused3 IMHO, if you are on the DxDDP it would make more sense to do a 2 TS dinner.

I think you both are saying the same thing

I recently figured this one out for us as well. We are on the dining plus. If you consider you have to eat dinner anyway and use one credit, then think of it like this.....when you arrive (if staying on property)....you will have 1 quick service and one table sevice for that day (same for check out day). We are using our quick service for our dinner since we wilh have already eaten lunch on the road. That way you still have the table service credit unused that you can "put" with your normal dinner credit for the CRT, giving you a total of 2 credits to use. Not sure if I said that right, but it finally made sense to me, so no OOP (for us at least).....but this is the only 2 credit meal we are doing, otherwise it wouldn't make sense for us to have the dining plus.
Hope this helps :)

I guess it depends on what other TS meals you plan on doing. On our previous visits, we paid for CRT lunch OOP. Both times we chose additional dinners. This time, we are adding a couple breakfasts, so are using the 2TS credits for CRT and paying OOP for Boma and Donal's Safari breakfast, as it is cheaper for us that way.

Pearly Swan, it may have been the way I worded it, but I was actually saying the same as you. :goodvibes Since the DxDDP leaves you with so many credits, often people who opt for that plan intend doing 2TS meals. I will work on my English. :rotfl2:

We have DDP, and I paid oop for CRT breakfast. BUT-- it will be me, dd2, and Dh going to WDW, and he is not going with us to CRT, one of my friends is meeting us there. (she is a CM, so she gets in the parks free). Before I planned our breakfast, we were going to use our credits to eat dinner at CRT, and just pay oop for a breakfast buffet later in the week. It was 90 bucks for 2, plus a 2 year old just for breakfast. I think if you are trying to save money, it would be better to use your credits, and pay opp for one more meal. I guess if you plan on eating at more of the expensive TS places, it would be better to pay out of pocket.

We are paying OOP for CRT lunch...when I did my numbers using 2 TS was not as cost effective as paying OOP.
